  • Jeep Renegade is a small SUV made in cooperation with Fiat. Underneath the Renegade shares a lot of components with the 500X. At first glance it’s hard to imagine what the boxy Jeep and sleek Fiat can have in common.
The name Renegade first appeared on a Jeep in the early 1970s. It was a trim level on the CJ - the Wrangler’s father. The Renegade returned in the mid 1990s for the YJ Wrangler trim. And then in the early naughties the KJ Cherokee or Liberty also had the Renegade trim.
After the Cherokee there was also the Renegade concept with a hybrid drivetrain (as of recent several Jeeps are available as PHEVs), and in 2014 we got this - the Jeep Renegade BU.
The test car is the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. It not only gets AWD, but also the better kind of AWD with simulated low range and rock crawl mode. The Trailhawk also has better off road angles than other Renegades. The approach, break-over and departure angles for the Trailhawk are 30, 34, and 24 degrees respectively, whereas the more city oriented models get about 20, 25 and 21 degrees.
The Trailhawk can wade in water up to 48 cm deep, although in the manual it says if there’s a current, it’s best to keep it down to 22 cm. The ground clearance is 21 cm.
How is the small Jeep off-road?
    ↔ Jeep Renegade Trailhawk dimensions:
    ✔ length: 4236 mm
    ✔ width: 1805 mm
    ✔ height: 1697 mm
    ✔ wheelbase: 2570 mm
    ✔ boot/trunk: 351 L
💲 Jeep Renegade starting price: 21 000 euro
💲 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk price as tested: 38 000 euro

Is it perfect no, but... It has proper off road capabilities unlike all of its competitors and yes it looks different then most cars on the road and I think for that reason it's a great car
It was made for modification in mind and it is relatively easy to do so as a result
But spot on review of this car

I totally agree with you... I have a Renegade Trailhawk too and it is a very capable offroader... Just put some proper tires under there and some good driving skills are the secret to compete with even the big sis Wrangler.....

The exterior of the car is lovely but the interior, at least for me, is kind of a let down. This handle for the passenger is so unnecessary and looks like an afterthought. Most buyers will be using this for a daily drive to the store, school and so on, not to drive on top of a desert dune or a mountainous terrain. That is why the interior need to be a little more refined, especially in that price range.

It's a Jeep, and it has to retain some of the off-road character. There's always the Fiat 500X for the more city-oriented buyer.

Great review and spot on. I'm shocked you achieved fuel economy numbers even that high. Here in the States, economy is no better than 10l/100 km. I think the Fiat 500X is better in every way.

It's a press car. 2-liter diesel. Also US highway implies 70 mph? In Poland it's up to 87 mph.

Not a great review for a car that doesnt deserve it...I've had a 2020 Limited model with 2.0 litre diesel 9 speed auto and 4x4 system for 4 months now and think its a great car...Economy is reading 37.5mpg for mostly city driving when I get on the motorway it averages around 50 mpg...Ride quality is good, i have bridgestone summer tyres...Interior quality is ok but full heated leather seats and heated steering wheel...the uconnect 8.4 system is excellent...havent had a chance to test the 4x4 modes yet...price wise it can be expensive if you spec it out but my car is basically a trailhawk without the under body skid plates and I paid £22k...New...

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

So it's basically not a Trailhawk, because it has a different AWD system :)

    • @MarekDrives

And the approach, breakover, and departure angles. That's what makes the Trailhawk, and that's what adds up to the price (and yes, it's overpriced regardless of the trim).

Worst review of the Renegade TH I've seen. There are tons of reviews that put the Jeep Renegade TH to its places. And it competes with Wranglers in those reviews. Plus, you don't go off road with stock street all season tires like you did in this review. 100% unreliable review at best.

    • @MarekDrives
