Thank you for covering the mechanics. I will definitely put the suggestions into practice. Nothing kills a round than hitting a nice drive on a par 5, be in the middle of the fairway and then topping your second shot. This will help.

Dude, thank you so much! Played in high school, shot high 70s. Tore my rotator cuff at 20 and never could get my swing back with my drive and especially my fairway woods. My swing was still fluid but your small tips have my 180 yard drives going 235 now and my wood top is gone. Smashing them 205-215 clean now. Keep doing what you're doing!

WOW, this is fabulous ... I very often top my long fairway hybrids and my husband tell me .."you're falling back on your shot ... weight your front foot" which doesn't always help, I feel unbalanced over my shot. This explanation tells me everything!! I do exactly that, swing to steep, now i know how to fix it ! Thank you so much, I'm golfing with friends this week (good golfers) and now I won't be topping and feeling embarrassed like a beginner (which Im not). Great explanation, I have subscribed :)

Niklaus would lift his left heel off the ground at the end of his backswing and start the downswing by planting his left heel. What I see here is pretty much the same thing but with slightly less left heel elevation. A popular theme in golf instruction these days is to use the ground for power, this is not new. Look at Sam Snead's bow-legged squat, then post up on the left leg as he hit it on screws. (persimmon drivers had screws in the face, hence the expression) You are the best personality of any youtube golf instructor and one of the best. Thank you.

I hope your still Teaching. The slinging action was the key to my breakthrough in striking the golf ball. I found this "action" some years ago and it changed my game. Still can't putt for shite... effortless power emanates from this simple swing. Applies to all clubs. Thanks for reinforcing the good things in my swing. It is a natural motion once you feel the face strike the ball. (Watch Bobby Jones., Ben Hogan who almost lost his career early on due to hooking, grip change slightly "weak" saved his legacy) Thanks again.

Great channel, one of your "driver" videos ACTUALLY helped me a lot, I didn't realize I was coming over the top on my down swing AND that was causing me to drive terribly. Added probably 20+ yards on my carry (on like a 30 year old driver, probably double if I had a fancy driver), most drives are dead straight even when I swing a little harder (used to result in a massive/dangerous slice), and the fun factor went way up, feels more like a good ole baseball swing more than a chipping swing now, love it, thank you :)

Danny Maude your video is exactly how I hit the ball!!!
I always described my golf swing as a sweeper, like I was sweeping the floor at home.
Now I know my problem and I am using your exercises to correct my swing.
Being left handed sure makes it difficult.
    Thanks again mr. Maude

Thank you so much. I’ve been hitting the ball solid I mean really solid for the past month but can’t improve my scoring because if the second shot factor. That second shot on a par five can make or break you and right now I have zilch of confidence in my fairway woods. I top them so bad I can sometimes come close in catching them when they pop up. So now I lay two hitting three and am no where near the green. This I’m sure will improve my scoring. I can’t wait till tomorrow. Golf with my buddies. Thanks for the tip!

I just watched the video on Monday about hitting the ball first then the turf. It explained what I was doing wrong so well. Well, you hit it straight down the fairway 300 yards with this one as well. Explaining perfectly what is wrong, and then how to fix it. I’ve watched many videos on fixing golf swing problems, and yours are really the most down to earth addressing my issues. Thanks for teaching down to my level. Many videos don’t address these very well.

I literally have all of the problems you describe. I've been a chronic topper of my fairway woods since forever, actually hybrids too in recent years. I avoid hitting fairway woods on the course. I know I'm static at impact, no rotation. My alignment was off, too. I stand up through impact and flick at it with my head flying up. It's sad. You're video was amazing. I'll start aiming more left, coming down from the inside, and rotating through the ball while trying to hit it off the top of the club. I'll try all this and master it. Thank you!

  • @artzukowski2672

Excellent video Danny. I finally realized that my tops and low on the face, (including and most frustrating with the driver) is the result of starting down over the top. I just assumed previously that I was just coming out of my spine angle early because of my aging back. I now realize that I must work on rotation. What would you advise on how to actually get the club on a better plane coming down vs. throwing from the top?
If you ever go to Florida or Massachusetts to instruct, let me know!

The key is to feel the shallow hitting position I talk about in this video (point 2) and let your body cleverly work out naturally how to get there, what type of swing is created?? your body will work it out

Danny - in a driver video you did that I watched recently you had the lead arm coming back across the body much higher and the swing path much steeper. Is this shot off the fairway meant to be a lower swing plane then? More around your body?

The difference between professionals and amateurs is a professional is much more aware of what they are doing and thus able to make improvements quickly.
As a professional we too suffer from inconsistency but are able to solve problems quicker.
We do this because we have a greater feel of the swing.
The first thing to begin improving this feel is by learning to shape shots right to left and left to right. This will help you feel what a closed club face feels like and an open one. I you can do this it will help you square the club face quicker should it tend to open too much causing a slice or close too much causing a hook
