The proper ball position solves 99% of issues. For a right-handed golfer, playing the ball center to a little left of center helps you hit down on it, automatically and get it up in the air. Playing the ball off your left heel for a driver helps you to hit up on it, automatically. It's all in the fundamentals. I love this man's explanation and visualization. He's a fantastic teacher!!!
Being able to hit my 3 wood has got me out of a lot of trouble. If I’m short or wide from the tee on par 5s, the 3 wood is my rescue club as it has the distance to get close enough to the green to have a reasonable chance of getting on in reg. When I don’t hit it well, it becomes a huge liability. Now I know what I’ve been doing wrong! Trying to hit it like a driver. Great vid.
Alex ... I paused the video and went to the basement net ... bang!!! About 5 balls into the session, started pounding 4W and compressing the golf ball. I'll have to see how this translates into the course when spring opening happens! Thank you, sir.
My 3 wood is EASILY the worst club in my bag. I've never understood how it's supposed to work. Until today! Looking forward to trying all this out on the range this weekend.
3 wood is always what I practice at range. It’s gotten a lot better this year when I put ball I center of stance instead of toward lead foot like my driver.
Confidence building video. Simple, easy to follow instructions. I've struggled with my 3 wood to the point of giving up on it. It goes back in the bag for Sunday and I'll let you know how i get on!
Thanks Alex. This is the one part of my game I really struggle with. Hardly ever use fairway wood and opt for 5/6 iron instead as normally top it. Thanks again 👍
Great video. Have been working on getting some more distance with the driver and my 3 wood has suffered with consistency. Too many tops and very thin shots. First 3 tips were things I was working on with my driver that I feel I have wrongly incorporated into the 3 wood. Had some success early on as I was turning it over and getting some draw spin and run that I liked, but not having a consistent strike has been horrible. Looking forward to getting out and correcting those things. Before it just felt like my grip was too strong and causing the issue. Thanks!!
@@AlexElliottGolf will be sim for a bit until snow melts here in Canada. A new sim with instructor just opened near me. Did someone win the Calloway Paradyms?
Thanks Alex, simplicity really does work. I am a great fan of my Wilson launchpad 3 wood and hybrid, these are my go to clubs when starting a par 5 or 4.
Played a round today. My fairway woods and long irons are the most inconsistent. Hit some nice crispy ones but had quite a few fat shots that lost me yardage. Just realized wow.... I was trying to smoke them like my driver today NO WONDER LOL! Thanks Alex.
I'm hoping this is the cure for my fairway wood woes. My game has been progressing nicely lately with the glaring exception of my fairway and my hybrid off the deck.
Most amateur golfers would do well to replace 3 woods with 4 woods and 5 woods. We simply do not possess the swing speed to elevate a traditional 3 wood.
I own both. My 3-wood is great from the tee while I very rarely use it from the deck, just with an exceptionaly friendly lie. Why should I keep my 5-wood in my bag when the distance and precision it provides roughly compare to the 3-wood?
@@grandpagolfsimple answer to keeping a 5 wood… the angle of decent is much steeper than a 3 wood. So if you’re playing second shot into a green, you want the ball to stop, rather than roll out like a 3 wood. I’d say you’re better off keeping a 5 wood than a 3 wood for that reason alone. If you’re an 8 handicap or less, you need a 3 wood, the rest of us, not so much. A 5 and either 7 or 9 would be a wiser decision
Thanks Alex . I use my 5 hybrid because I’m more consistent with it but I can’t get the distances 3 wood can give you also I’m struggling with my 4 hybrid if the fairway it’s so frustrating
Alex, love your lessons! Do you have vodeos for a brand new golfer? Aomeone qho jas never hit a ball? I need aome as my wife is just starting, everyone seems to uave more advamced vodeos. Thanks
Alex. 2 Q’s 1) looks like your club head is slightly open, is this better than square ? 2) To help hit down on wood should I set my eyes ahead of the ball, like I do with my irons ??
Excellent simplistic coaching. I’ve a new 5 wood in my bag, only hit it on the range off a mat so far and hope these tips will enable me to grow in confidence off the fairway. Thanks Alex 🎉
lol don't squeeze the shaft try that and when it hits the ball it shakes or reveberate or it even twist offf your finger. also it will change the flex of your shaft.
I'm not sure if all your followers are beginer golfers, it seems that way if I look at the stupid comments. This is definitely not a "new" method, it's always been like that! Hit down on everything except driver! #BestTipEver #EasyAsThat
I used to toggle between good driver but poor long irons or good irons poor driver , easy fix ditch the driver and have one swing for all clubs , use shallow tee of tee for longer clubs
*Let me help you get your fairway woods performing better. These are key clubs that will help on long par 4’s and par 5’s*

EXCELLENT, EASY TO FOLLOW.
ONE OF YOUR MOST HELPFUL VIDEOS.
Thank you.
This is the best fairway wood video that I have ever seen, great job as usual.
Wow, thank you!
Great lesson Alex, 5 awesome points! This will definitely keep my 3-wood from being the worst club in my bag!
man these videos are so easy to understand this is the only channel i watch
thank you!!

This is absolutely the best instruction I ever seen in TH-cam. Thank you for making fairway wood fun to hit for me 🎉
I’ve Been carrying a new 5wood around and never used until I stared using these tips and got great results. Thanks Alex

Loveeee this great work!!
No mumbo jumbo. Excellent tutorial yet simple to understand ❤
Thank you! Ive felt like the only guy alive that couldnt hit a 7wood. Thrilled to get out there now
Great advice, thanks so much Alex

How did it go?
Great advice and tips! Thanks
Keep The video's coming Alex ! watch them all, Shame your not nearer south lol !! Would have a lesson. All the best, Nik.
Thanks, will do!
Great video as I hit irons really well & struggle with all woods , I’ve dropped driver for a strong 3 wood & will now be hitting it like an iron 👍
We all need help with that club . Great tips Alex. Will definitely put it to work
Alex you make your driver and fairway woods swing look so simple. You’re just a golf genius! 😳👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Great instruction, and easy to understand.
I have been waiting on this video Alex thank you
Love to hear it Rob! I hope this one helps you
Thanks Alex. This is the one part of my game I really struggle with. Hardly ever use fairway wood and opt for 5/6 iron instead as normally top it. Thanks again 👍
Great vídeo .
I agree. I'm not long off the tee but I've always been good with the fairway woods 😊
Great one for fairway woods thanks again Alex 👍
Cheers Alex ‘ great advice ⛳️
Loving your lessons. You make everything seems so easy. Can’t wait to try on the course
😊
appreciate it
Plan on playing Friday. Good tips.

This is the video I wanted!!! Can’t wait to get at it on the course with this new information
Love to hear that Jeremy. When are you getting out?

Excellent Video, well explained and executed
Thank you kindly!
Thanks for this helpful video and just in time to try out my new 7 wood.
Good stuff, thank you 👏 Corroborates, in one vlog, what tips we've slowly been amassing (mostly through error) over 9 months.

This will be a great reset for you kres!! I hope it helps you
Yes! Its funny how you can get better at golf but then slip and forget the basics lol!@@AlexElliottGolf
Hi Alex would I use this same technique with my hybrids 3,4,5,6
What are your thoughts on a little forward shaft lean? I find it helps a bit with fitting down and compression.
Is it the same principle off the tee, good video.😊
Great video Alex. One question. So do I hover my fairway woods at set up like my irons? Thanks.
Love your video's, could you show me and others when do you release your wrists on the down swing please.
Yesss video coming
up on this real all soon!
I'm hoping this is the cure for my fairway wood woes. My game has been progressing nicely lately with the glaring exception of my fairway and my hybrid off the deck.
Well done alex 👏 😊
Than you Roy!!
Thanks Alex, my fairway woods are a disaster...maybe this will fix the issue I'm having.
I hope it does!!!
Thanks Alex, will give this a go, had a mare with em at range trying same as my driver 👍 would you say this method for hybrids ??
Yeah for sure!!
Alex Do You put Your hands on the Grip Slightly Forward Like an Iron???
Yeah

Alex. 2 Q’s 1) looks like your club head is slightly open, is this better than square ? 2) To help hit down on wood should I set my eyes ahead of the ball, like I do with my irons ??
Hi! I will try and cover this in an upcoming video 🙌🏼
very clearly said
Is the same tip apply when hitting off the deck with tee
No this would change for this approach, i will try and cover this in another video
Good lesson, & you are using a great golf ball ! Love Vice !
Excellent simplistic coaching. I’ve a new 5 wood in my bag, only hit it on the range off a mat so far and hope these tips will enable me to grow in confidence off the fairway. Thanks Alex 🎉
Love that dub a what 5 wood did you go for???
Mizuno STZ 220 .. looked at the X but the Z performed as well for me and has adjustable loft sleeve.
Alex what length fairway wood shaft do you recommend?
Hi! I will try and cover this in an upcoming video 🙌🏼
Great vid thanks. You dont mention weight distribution Looking at point 2 am I correct in saying 50 /50
Yes for this case
Does this work with Hybrids ? I have Cleveland hy3 and just don't get any consistency
Yes please try it!!
Oh I will ,👍
Can you do a slow motion, so I can see at the top where the face of the wood is ?
Thsnks
For sure! I will try and cover this in another video for you🙌🏼
I'm just a weekend golfer. I hit my 3 wood straighter and longer than my driver.
so i assume that you would hit down with hybrids too?
yeah
Did you say hit down while teed up as well with fairway woods?
Yeah
Good lesson, Alex Now; can you stop the rain in California so I can go practice it?
I will try 😂
i tell myself to replace the ball with the club when using a wood. use the bounce of the fairway wood lol.
lol don't squeeze the shaft try that
and when it hits the ball it shakes
or reveberate or it even twist offf your finger.
also it will change the flex of your shaft.
Can I be your mid handicap tester

Change your tag to moaner then get a life😂

This is a new method for fairway woods
