100% agree. The Certate 8k and above are the exact same drag system as the Saltiga which is just as loud. Pretty sure this SW CErtate is 5/k size which is slightly more tamed than its larger siblings

Decibel levels don’t lie big dog. The Diawa* was higher on the EQ. Now, as I stated. Was it the best sounding/sexiest sounding drag… maybe not. It has a somewhat “ hollow” sound/resonance. But if this was a test of pure decibels. Shimano looses. As a Diawa* fan boy most of my life. I agree the Shimano has a “better “sound, especially under load. The (Cerate?? )Diawa* has a somewhat concerning sound when under heavy load… almost like you broke something. Even though you didn’t, and it’s basically a tank.

Ehhhhhhhh! In correct my Aussie or South African angling friend . The loudest one was the 3rd reel… a Diana. Registered decibels alone were higher, according to the equalizer, even with not the best sound. Now, was it the best/sexiest sounding drag clicker…. Maybe not…

Twinpower's body is half plastic. Why oh why did Shimano ever do that? To save a few grams? The Certate SW still takes the cake here. The 6k Certate SW's drag isn't as loud as 8k and up. Not sure what model you were turning in this video

@@wilsonnguyen2026 I've got the Certate LT 5k. It doesn't sound like that. In fact all LT reels have a crap drag sound. I know because I'm a Daiwa guy that owns over 30 Daiwa reels from low to high range. The SW has the new drag system like the Saltiga reels which sounds like a ratchet. The 5/6k SW Certates have a smaller spool so it doesn't echo as reels 8k and above do. I suspect this is a 5/6k Sw size not the LT because the LT doesn't even come close to being that loud. If you compare an 8k or larger Twinpower to Certate SW, the Certates are louder.

That was a Certate 6000. Weird that TP SW has more plastic parts, but it's still heavier than the Certate SW. We have another video coming where we weigh the high end Shimanos & Daiwas.

The click on the Shimanos echos louder because it sits under the spool. Where as the high end Daiwas sits under the drag knob.

@Team Kingies - Fishing Crew yeah I suspected it was a 6k sw. The LT only has max 5k size which is actually about a 3k size compared to normal sizing. The 8k certate sw and above are louder than the twinpower though. In regards to weight the only twinpower lighter than the certate sw is the 8k size. Even though I'm a daiwa guy, I do admire the aesthetics of the twinpower over the certate sw. The cuts in the spool are freaking sexy, but overall the sw certate is a better built reel and feels a lot more solid with less play. I'd always choose functionality over looks

Loudness doesn't equate to anything of quality or preformance. If you are creating youtube videos louder the better for your viewers to hear it. Most recording setups don't pickup the drag noise.
I used to like when they have that rining noise to the drag, like a chime. You probably could do a spring upgrade to make it louder 😂.
