The reason why the IMZ Daiwa reel cost more is because it also has Bluetooth technology built in the reel. It’s just not available to use in the US as of now. Daiwa has an entire app to measure all types of information from your reel to use in conjunction with your smartphone. It’s just not been released in the United States as of now.

@@theINQBS Eh, i dunno about that. I've used a few different baitcasters, from cheap $20 ones that are near impossible to cast without a lot weight, to average reels around $60-$80, as well as diawa tatulas and a shimano slx dc, and i can say down that the one i would choose for distance and ease of use would be the slx dc. It isn't placebo, they aren't even my reels, but i've used a bunch of different reels and that was the best. Less birdnests, further and more effortless casts, etc. Sure, you can use any reel pretty well when it's dialed in properly, but quality makes a difference and gives more margin for user error. A shakespeare walmart combo won't come close to the performance of a good daiwa or shimano on a decent rod, not to mention better build quality most of the time.
If you watched the rest of the test he ended up pulling just as hard on the diawa. It just never backlashed. I see what you were saying though bc I thought the same thing at first until I continued watchin and saw that he started pulling just as hard on it.
Absolutely LOVE this video Jon! I've been watching your DC JDM gear reviews and showcases since you started doing them! It is so cool to see two amazing products go head to head like this and I love that you are showing your followers just how cool fishing reels can be! As a gear head myself I just wanted to point out one thing in case some of the viewers had more questions or might be unaware to this. When it comes to SHIMANO DC technology, not all DC reels are created equal, far from it actually. There are various levels of the DC system (IDC4, IDC5, 4x8 DC & 4x8 DC MD), and they are included on various quality levels of reels (Slx, curado, metanium, antares etc...).The Antares DC MD has the 4x8 MD (monster drive) tune DC braking system, whereas something like the Antares DC (non MD) has the standard 4x8 DC braking system. The 4x8 braking system allows for up to 32 different possibilities when it comes to adjusting your DC brakes. The Antares MD like you stated perfectly in your video is designed for bigger fish and therefore bigger baits so the adjustments are more (beefed up) I guess you could say. Then there are reels on the north american market like the Metanium DC 2024 that has the IDC5 technology, which is definitely more finesse oriented or in our case (bass oriented). I believe that the IDC5 has like 15 or 16 settings with one of them being considered an automatic mode. Then there is the absolute most basic of the bunch the IDC4 which could be found in the SLX and Curado and Ive seen that braking system, although being the most basic, cast 1/2oz frogs up to 45-50yds. I am excited to see where the Daiwa Intelligent Magforce brake system Technology goes and I think that regardless of which brand anyone choses that most would be blown away with how great these products are. Once again great video, loved every second of it! KFNS 😎🙏🏼
I am a fan of Daiwa because they have a good customer service in Europe they replace my reel , he was making weird noises and the handle was not spinning free ,with the new and improved version of the reel !! Now it's my favourite carp fishing reels these babies can cast crazy far away !!100 grams lead for 100 metres without pushing the rod to much !!
Bought my Daiwa IMZ Limit Breaker a couple months back. It’s absolutely astonishing!!! Although you need to redo this competition when Daiwa un-geolocks there Bluetooth software for the U.S.

Ive been waiting for this video to come out! I knew JB was gonna get the Limitbreaker at some point. I think the Limitbreaker is the better reel for the coolness factor and what it means for shaking up the DC reel game.
Thanks for the lekka vid Jon B. Another banger as always. I'm a Shimano fanboy but that Daiwa looks awesome! My only concern is having to charge the reel. I do fishing/camping trips for a week at a time in places where there is no electricity. Is that reel going to shut off after a day or two and then just sit there looking pretty?
I have one Shimano reel that I use for musky fishing, the Tranx 400 or 4000 it's called that I have never backlashed it. I use 80 pound Power Pro line on it and big heavy lures.
I know it’s not your style but Loongze has a UL BFS casting reel that’s very similar to both Shimano DC and Daiwas LB. It has different color lights with certain kind of braking but also have an app for a multitude of fine tuning the braking. I’ve seen posts that you fine tune a certain lure and save it as a file when you want to cast that same lure again at a later time.
That Daiwa Limit Breaker is sick! Absolutely badass and the technology of the future. You have to use it on your next Trip to South America or wherever you go for huge fish. 👍🏼
I bought a Japanese model Shimano scorpion a few years ago, it broke and the repair cost was right at the price of a brand new one. I fixed it myself with a lew's spring. 🤫
I think both of these reels do DC in a way that already reflects what each brand prioritizes in their design. Limitbreaker is a true evolution of Daiwa’s analog braking system philosophies. The Magforce Z and SV systems in Daiwa reels offer spool speed dependent and immediate mechanical rotor braking (respectively) that make them feel a lot less susceptible to backlash when a wind randomly picks up or you throw a different lure weight. My experience with shimano has been that of needing to spend a little more time dialing something in/committing to a setting, but you really do get max distance. I love Daiwa but the Antares DC MD seems to also be an INCREDIBLE reel.
How do they do skipping a jig ? Would love to see that. Would really show the quality of the breaking system skipping around some docks if they can backlash that will show it.
