I don't understand why people get so freaked out about wind on motorbikes, you're on a motorbike the wind is part of the experience. In my experience a little bit of wind protection, that causes the wind to gust and buffet around the small area of protection, is worse than no 'protection' at all as you have a smooth laminar flow of air over the whole of your torso
The air pressure on your torso on a unfair edge bike, especially an upright means at speed you need to hold on, this means you end up with wobbles and wheelies, a basic lack of control.... fairings are a good idea over and above just rider comfort.
First time I don’t understand how you could mess up a first ride. Complaining about the torque on low rpm while riding with the full safety electronics on. Put it in sport, take off the anti wheelie system and you’ll see. Also as few others mentioned, testing a hyper motard on the highway 🤦♂️. SP doesn’t provide an exhaust: it’s optional. You also forgot that SP provides better wheels.
Yep, i turned off the anti wheelie system, the bike literally power wheelie from 1st to 3rd gear (I'm not great at stunts so that's pretty much it). This bike is sick fun on the road, i'll take this over any supersport liter bikes :))
Chase I love you man but riding a bike build for the twisties on the highway, talking about cops here and there while you are behaving perfectly. Those first rides get boring really quick. Take a bike to the twisties, ride it like its supposed to be ridden and then make your conclusion, this is how I felt about the KTM 690 SMCR review also btw.
Not sure how long they let him test ride it but iirc he said the mountains are a 2 hour ride to the mountains so maybe that's why? I remember him saying in a couple first rides that he wa ta to take it to the mountains but it's too far, so maybe they only give him like an hour?
Then why is he reviewing bikes like this? Huh bacon whip? “Chase” is good name for him, it’s more like a verb because that’s what he’s constantly doing when riding with other people.
Im 20 years old and live in Macedonia ( its a small country in Eastern Europe, particularly Balkans). On 17th of August 2008,my brother which was a avid lover of bikes crashed his Aprilia SR50R (only a 50cc bike) and almost lost his life, which made me hate every kind of motorcycles and i swore i would never get on one again.11 years later, and obviously far more mature, I realized that if ridden correctly and obviously knowing your limits significantly lowers the chance of dropping.I soon began watching Chase which made me fall in love with bikes and I couldn't stop thinking about them.I am getting a bike this year thanks to you Chase.Thank you for bringing me to this family, ride safe brothers! (Sorry for any potential spelling mistakes as english is not my maternal language)
Welcome to the first video after hitting 1 MILLION SUBS! If this gets 100 likes I'll beg Mountain to let me ride an SP model! Also, a huge shout out to SimpliSafe for sponsoring this video! Make sure to check them out if you're looking for a security system for your home: simplisafe.com/chase . That way I can keep getting sponsors and eventually buy one of these! (I mean let's be real it would be the SP model but you get what I mean right? ....right?)
First of all congrats on the one million! Appart from sp model I'd like to see you on a tuono (esspacially in comparison to the super Duke, let's see what's your dream bike after that ;) ). I think there is no first ride on the channel :)
Normally find your reviews really on target but thought you were just in a pissy mood for this one. The Hyper is an amazing bike to ride - beautifully tuned for street performance. Just so eager and fun. Super agile. Great braking. A real riders bike. Easily one of the best bikes I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned a few.
Chase one thing i think you missed about supermoto type bikes over the years is that they are designed in such a way that it is easy to influence the weight balance of the bike by sliding back and forth on the seat: Sitting further back in anticipation of a corner helps keep the weight balance shifted rearward allowing the front tire and suspension to steer the bike with greater effectiveness. Sitting forward on the seat is best left for rapid acceleration, especially upon corner exit. There’s a reason the seat is so thin and smooth and the riding position so high up. It all lends a hand to a more active riding style.
Good review! I own one, the SP model, what you say about the torque and the power it is true but only because the bike comes restricted from factory, the redline is at 6000rpm. After the first 1000km dealer service it becomes another bike. You have to test drive one after that.
Agree with you guys. Talk so much Ssssssss and doesn't know anything about bikes especially the hypermotard. Dude this bike is not a Touring or a race bike maybe you want a scooter looks like you
You have to learn the Hypermotards. It takes longer than a day for us regular riders. Once you do that, the ride becomes as special as it looks. Almost forgot to mention, if you don’t get aggressive, you’re not going to vibe with this bike. Twist the throttle hard in 2nd through 4th. When you make it justtt to the back side of the power band, THEN up shift. Get over the handlebars to stabilize the bike under full throttle. Stay in the corners for as long as possible. Enjoy, and do watch out for 1st gear. She bites.
Thats my bike! - And ure right after the break in period they reprogram the bike and it becomes way nicer like its a different bike. - Suspension needs to be ajusted to your'e weight. Also for the torque they choose to put it at 7K rpm, the whole bike like's high rpm not the low. Hope this helps
Chase, with a new bike... tires have to be scrubbed, brakes have to bed in, the engine is breaking in, as well as the electronic aides all affect the bikes performance and handling, you never seem to take any of these things into account. This bike with a couple of thousand miles on it could feel totally different. I always remember you would do nothing but talk about a new bikes rear brake pedal being too low for the first 5 minutes of every video, Mountain Motorsports must have figured that out and adjusted it up before you ride them now. 😂😂😂
This would require riders to actually learn, actually become knowledgeable, actually get savvy, actually advance in their riding careers. No. TH-cam views, hits, popularity isn't actually about that.
Dude, congrats on the 1 million views. Job well done. That being said, your review is s***!. This is a hypermotard not a highway Cruiser for a putz Rider. Get a life and peel off of Highway 41 on to some of the back roads and ride the bike the way it was designed to be then let us know what you think of it if you can manage not to fall off.
agreed. I rode a comparable bike (with less power but same mindset) and let me tell you, if I only rode it slowly I would think it was shit. The fuelling was clunky at half throttle, the suspension was soft under braking, and the engine itself was very rumbly and felt uneasy as if something was wrong.. But when I actually started to get comfortable on it and rode it much more aggressively, it came to life and every drawback suddenly turned into positives. The soft suspension made it super playful and extremely lively in corners and forgiving towards all kinds of punishment. The engine didn't like steady speeds, but was incredibly rev happy and loved rapid acceleration and deceleration, and would cope with wide open throttle at any given moment without hesitation. Its uneasy feel was replaced by a willingness to ride hard consistently and always act predictably under hard riding, and the brakes were perfectly in sync with the soft suspension to get optimal brake feel and grip under hard braking regardless of it being in corners or straights, the whole bike would just soak it up and push you out the corner with a huge smile on your face. If you ever rode it slowly, or conservatively, it would probably feel like the bike was faulty or not well adusted.. But under spirited riding, it became a true animal with perfect synergy between all its performance aspects. I imagine the hypermotard is a similar kind of animal, something you have to punch with a stick to wake it up, but then it also delivers the thrills you'd expect from it.
I just picked up a 950 sp last weekend. It’s a hooligan machine. It likes to be ripped on. It’s purely made to have as much fun as possible from point A to point B. (Previously I had an fz10). I’d say that this new one is wayyy more refined if you ride it like she likes.
DJLimez honestly. There is nothing I would change about it really. I love everything about it. I put on a few aftermarket things, but out of the box it’s a blast. Always in the power band. Especially on the streets.
Bought a new base model Hyper 950 a month ago. Regarding the suspension it felt much like you're describing it in the vid. In my case, the factory setup was really weird, e.g. the shock preload was set to the extreme highest position, resulting in a very nervous, unstable behavior in corners. Once i adjusted the suspension, it handles quite plush now. I agree with many of your points. Commuting in thick traffic or riding on highways at higher speeds is not was this bike is intended for. Flying around the twisties though with the upright seating position will bring constant smiles. Oh and it helps being tall, i'm 6' 8, that bike was built for me.
This bike is really responsive to the rider input. I have the SP model and before that I had an R6 and a FZ-09. The Hypermotard scared me at first but then I realized that I was the problem. You need to be smooth with the bike and then it's really rewarding! I hope your gonna test the SP version, ride safe!
Wow 1mil. Hard to believe how long i have been with this channel and how far its come. The yellow sv on the parking garage roof the dramatic scooter intro from chasein3d, multiple bike thefts, the first radio silence, the white truck and i still have my bring back holly tee, that all felt like yesterday. Keep going strong man and hope youtube doesnt screw you we dont wanna see a vid titled "im working at a golf course again" 😂😂
Was your TC too high? Usually if that's high it saps that raw power feeling also fresh ducatis tend to feel sluggish at first. My monster 1200 felt slow for the first few miles
Well in my opinion those bikes fit much more into countries like Italy, Austria, Germany and so on. They‘re just not made for those long sweeping , high speed corners and wide roads they‘re made for mountain passes and tight twisty roads.
@@Jajeweet That's probably a more accurate description. As with everything, they start bleeding into each other. Sort of like the name "Multistrada" implies ADV bike, but it's really not in it's base form.
bought 1 , apply arrow decat, arrow pro race exhaust , evotech protection , ducabike steering damper and god damn this bike is amazing although seat foam little bit hard for me
I own that bike. Its pretty brilliant. Turn the wheelie control off and the tc all the way off its absolutely insane. Mine has 2200 miles on it and the suspension is broken in and it handles really well when pushed hard it has to be ridden aggressively and its much better when pushed .Just saying
Chase you can measure your inseam with a simple tape measure in your garage. Start with a pair of pants you already have that fit you well and lay them flat on the floor. Carefully measure the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg. This number is your inseam.
So, after watching this, I went to my llocal Ducati Dealer (I've been looking at this tbike) and took one for a test drive, and well, Even in crapy winter weather (no snow on road, a bit of ice in a couple of places, but stay away from bridges, and it was okay, bright sunny day), and the two of the things you commented on, I have to say, I rode the RVE (which is aa graffiti cool paint) and the SP, and the SP has FANTASTIC suspension, and myself being an ohlins kinda fan boy, It was perfect, and I believe it has a bit of higher travel? It may be me. But the RVE/regular suspension, I did tweak it a bit to make it harder (I'm a big guy tying to loose weight, 60lbs so far!), but anyway, once I dialed it in before on the parkinglot (and I could have probably done a better job) but it felt really good on the road, and even on crapy pot-holy roads. I LOVE the engine! was able to take it on a windy road (dealer not far from a little canyon) and it is great there! Put some Contiattack SM tires, or maybe even some Michelin Anakee and take it carving!. I'm picking one up. I think I want the SP with the grafitty paint, but I coudl live and be happy with the regular suspension. I do have a Honda CB1000R that I take on long rides, daily type stuff, but I would totally drive this around town, and make it a track/weekend ride bike (canyons, track days, etc). I could go touring with it (Took a 390 adventure on a 9 hour ride before) and yeah, think I'm buying this bike. OC
I've been trying to look where the hell the drone is during his ride, guess it has some sorta invisibility mode. Keep up the good work though, I'll love to have a bike like that
Well done Sir, and yes was 1 of the 1st thinks I did Wind Screen. I think it is the height and why all the wind. Have a SP and I know what you mean about Being planted on Bike, and SP the same no planting, suspension does not help the feeling being planted. Is a machine that will take many rides to get accustomed to as been my case. And agree as well with those front Breembo brakes, just a mysterious feel to them. Tight windy canyons is where this machine comes to Life.
Hey chase, I was watching this video with my 1 year old son, he said "wow!" and pointed to the bike and accidently hit thumbs down. Don't worry I changed it to a thumbs up!
as for rider modes: I'd rename Urban as "Rain" mode (which is what it is, its about either 75% or 57hp, and full intervention. TOuring is what I'd call "urban" or road", and sport is good. :)
Think you should have got the Ducati dealership to check the suspension and set up out as this bike is amazing to ride and the handling is the best thing about it.
What size jeans do you wear? The second set of digits is your inseam. Please ride the sp, I’m curious to see how much of a difference the upgrades make to the ride quality.
Compared to the Desert Sled and the Tenere 700 you think the Hypermotard 950 with the 20mm lower seat could feel lower than those bikes? Which one you think better on tarmac the Hypermotard 950 or the Tenere 700?
Tire pressure bro---Did you check the tire pressure? I've never seen a dealer set it correctly on delivery. My brand new HD soft tail slim was off about 12 psi in each wheel.
hey chase, you are tippy toeing the hypermotard? how tall are you? i want that bike too, but i am only 5'6" that's why i am guessing if it is a good bike for me? thanks dude.
I'm taking delivery of the base model next week, but I'm getting conflicting reports on whether the base has slide control or only the SP. Can you please find out?
Simple safe is legit. Easy and effective. Check the fees for your local 911 service. False alarms can be expensive depending on where u live. 911 service is optional.
Hi Chase, can I recommend you a bike? I am 100% with you on how the Ducati Hypermotard feels. I tried the previous version of it and it definitelly lacked that low band torque and the playfulnes/flickability that it's name implies. Then I tried this actual version and I have to admit it got better but it still does not live to it's name. For me, coming from the MX world, it doesn't have what a jumping lady needs. Hahahaha If I can suggest you a bike, please go and try the Husqvarna FE-501. I think that one is going to give you what you want. It is 100% street legal but I would probably change it's tires if you plan to use it only on tarmac. I would love to see a video of you trying it and knowing your opinion. :)
It would cost you WAY more to get a regular 950 and upgrade Ohlins later than it would be to just buy the SP Note: would the suspension maybe adjusted to a heftier than chase guy? (somebody like, oh, Me? aproaching the 300lb weight class?) (wish me luck on diet guys) BUt I've actually went from 300lb to about 260 over the past year, and I had to adjust the suspension on my Enduro and road bike. (all my bikes)
Oh damn the hypermotard has the V4 dash, awesome! Check out the aprilia Dorsoduro. But yea the 1290 ktm is a better bike in my own opinion. Great review man.
@@oneonlyxram In the wallet :( remember that horrible black lc4? My then gf almost broke up with me because of that money pit. If that shitty fucking duke did something right was show me that the hoe wasn't loyal and then I dumped both her and the piece of shit bike.
So for the last few rides I've been wondering, how do you get the further camera angles when you ride? Is it a drone or something because there's never a consistent car in the other lane.
He does two first rides on the same route. First time is the one you watch with his voice. The follow car shots are the second ride thats just for those shots. He has someone drive in front of him with a camera on a gyro thats attached to the back of his jeep
Chase! How do you connect the sena Momentum and a sena 30k together? I have both and I'm trying to use the 30k on a passenger helmet but I cant find any info on how to pair the two
Your first ride videos are top dog when it comes to quality.... but can I recommend doing older/unique/cheap bikes? All of your first rides are now brand new and up-market. I understand why from a business perspective, but the trade off is your first rides get boring unless you're actually interested I the bike. Just my 2 cents, love the videos either way.
Man I am seriously thinking about getting a super motto bike next. I just got a grom to stunt and play with ( TRY TOO 😂 ) . Love your videos man keep it up. Maybe one day my videos be as good as yours!
This is a GREAT bike for people who want a second bike, don't know it would be a great bike for those who live with a daily bike... Or maybe if you can afford a cheaper bike to ride around? Like a MT-07 or cheaper like? but No, this is for the guy who may have a touring bike or commuting bike, maybe even an adventure bike, and wants a bike to to carve the canyons, maybe go to the track on weekends and surprise some folks? Not sure what the chances of this are, but I'd like to see a review of this on the mountains. I'd have to adjust brakes though.... Don't think that is right based on other DUcatis I riden (ex girlfirned had a V4 and then a Monster 1200 and then a V4 Streetfighter, and well, those had nice brakes. Test drove the neweish / new 698 Hypermotard? That was fun, andconsidering my experience with supermotos was a Husky 701 SM and a Honda CRF450RX converted to supermoto (and also a Husky FE501S converted to have supermoto like wheels... but that was kinda weird, since it was mostly an enduro/dual sport). I'd go with the Ohlins, b/c it will usually be cheaper to go for the upgrade (especially if you're financing it?) as if you were to get Ohlins on your own. I put some on my CB1000R black edition, and those cost me a prety penny. I was comparing the price of the bikes like a Yammy R1 and R1M, and it would be about the same to buy bike, and then get Ohlins as it would to just buy R1M, and well, you do get other stuff on the R1M. Maybe theR1M is a bit more, but not much. Something like MT-10 SP, ALWAYS go for the SP just for Ohlins!

I don't understand the purpose of the hypermotard or the multistrada. What niche do they fill?
They are completely different bikes lol. Hypermotard is just a light naked bike. Good for non-highway commuting and stuff.
Think Supermoto but with a big engine. Multistrada is something different. Sport Touring. Enduro model more ADV focused.
@@l_speed8797 Nahh the 701/690 is a supermoto with a big engine. This is just a naked with slightly taller suspension
Best bike I have ever ridden, but it was a very tall bike for me.
Congratulations on 1 mil chase
Maybe the Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) is on too high and that's why it's limited in low down torque?
bought 1 , apply arrow decat, arrow pro race exhaust , evotech protection , ducabike steering damper and god damn this bike is amazing although seat foam little bit hard for me
You definitely should do a sp next to get a good comparison.
so what happend to the first ride with the bobber did i miss something?
Pls do a CBR650R 2019 first ride Chase! thank you
Was it a brand new 0 mile bike? I’m wondering if the brakes didnt bed in til mid ride and thats why the brakes suddenly started working well.
I own that bike. Its pretty brilliant. Turn the wheelie control off and the tc all the way off its absolutely insane. Mine has 2200 miles on it and the suspension is broken in and it handles really well when pushed hard it has to be ridden aggressively and its much better when pushed .Just saying
Damn, bro was on his period for this ride for sure.
OC
Leg cramping is definitely user issues. Bike has so much room.
This. Im 6"3 and I'm cramped on a monster 821. But I've tested the hyper 950 and it has so much room.
Should do a Suzuki dr-z400sm first ride please.
Do a first ride on a 2020 BMW S1000RR. Great video as always. keep up the great work!!
Just picked an sp up, amazing
RicViperMoto cool! How is it?
I've been trying to look where the hell the drone is during his ride, guess it has some sorta invisibility mode. Keep up the good work though, I'll love to have a bike like that
Lol I'm pretty sure he does one ride around where he does the talking and then meets up with Heather to do the cinematic shots
Shhhhh, don't tell them the secrets. lol
Nothing to do with bike set up its the reviewer who just doesn’t know how to ride it
What size jeans do you wear? The second set of digits is your inseam. Please ride the sp, I’m curious to see how much of a difference the upgrades make to the ride quality.
Compared to the Desert Sled and the Tenere 700 you think the Hypermotard 950 with the 20mm lower seat could feel lower than those bikes? Which one you think better on tarmac the Hypermotard 950 or the Tenere 700?
Tire pressure bro---Did you check the tire pressure? I've never seen a dealer set it correctly on delivery. My brand new HD soft tail slim was off about 12 psi in each wheel.
Congratulations on 1 million
Hello, is this bike good for a bit longer rides like 300-400km per day?
What camera do you use for your bike videos other then a GoPro.
hey chase, you are tippy toeing the hypermotard? how tall are you? i want that bike too, but i am only 5'6" that's why i am guessing if it is a good bike for me? thanks dude.
I'm taking delivery of the base model next week, but I'm getting conflicting reports on whether the base has slide control or only the SP. Can you please find out?
It has and it works just hard to do in my opinion. (Got 5600km on the base 950)
@@stefanrachman6376 Why is it hard? Tell me more.
I want one should I get it? Chase
Always been one of my fav to watch
Simple safe is legit. Easy and effective. Check the fees for your local 911 service. False alarms can be expensive depending on where u live. 911 service is optional.
It think there is some wind shield type of things u can put on those
I thought about this bike but scared about that ECU issue
Franks bettas what’s the eco issue on this bike ?
Congrats for 1 mil subs maaaan
Congratulations on 1 million subscribers chase!
Congress on the million bro
And congrats on hitting 1 million
heard theres been a small recall on the 950 sp . not a biggie but still
Bro, I’m still geeking after seeing your merch on 44Teeth.
Whatcha mean?
Barron was flexing one off your t shirts
chaseontwowheels big ole c2w helmet logo T-shirt on full display worn by the Baron von Grumble himself in their latest video.
can you do next the aprilia Dorsoduro 900 pls
Beautiful bike! Now I’m curious about the SP, bring it!!😁
congrats on 1M subs!
Hahahaha
If I can suggest you a bike, please go and try the Husqvarna FE-501. I think that one is going to give you what you want. It is 100% street legal but I would probably change it's tires if you plan to use it only on tarmac. I would love to see a video of you trying it and knowing your opinion. :)
It would cost you WAY more to get a regular 950 and upgrade Ohlins later than it would be to just buy the SP
Note: would the suspension maybe adjusted to a heftier than chase guy? (somebody like, oh, Me? aproaching the 300lb weight class?) (wish me luck on diet guys) BUt I've actually went from 300lb to about 260 over the past year, and I had to adjust the suspension on my Enduro and road bike. (all my bikes)
Could you do a MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR Firelli first ride? Or the f4 MV Agusta - Would be a heel of a first ride..!
Congrats for the 1 million 🙌
Oh damn the hypermotard has the V4 dash, awesome! Check out the aprilia Dorsoduro. But yea the 1290 ktm is a better bike in my own opinion. Great review man.
The Ktm is never the better bike
@@gamwpanagia haha show me on the doll where KTM touched you...😆
@@oneonlyxram In the wallet :( remember that horrible black lc4? My then gf almost broke up with me because of that money pit. If that shitty fucking duke did something right was show me that the hoe wasn't loyal and then I dumped both her and the piece of shit bike.
Do a first ride of the SP please.
That explains alot. The continuity of the clips is almost perfect.
Do mountain motors let you ride bikes that are up for sale as new? I hope they discount bikes a lot after that.
He doesn't go that far lol
Chase! How do you connect the sena Momentum and a sena 30k together? I have both and I'm trying to use the 30k on a passenger helmet but I cant find any info on how to pair the two
Video starts at 4:57
Your first ride videos are top dog when it comes to quality.... but can I recommend doing older/unique/cheap bikes? All of your first rides are now brand new and up-market. I understand why from a business perspective, but the trade off is your first rides get boring unless you're actually interested I the bike. Just my 2 cents, love the videos either way.
owns pants... and a ruler... JUST MEASURE THE INSEAM...
would love so see a first ride of the new 2020 s1000rr
Would the bike fit someone who's 5'9? Or is it a bit too tall?
The guy in the video is 5'9
Chase can you get the 2019 Yamaha yz 125 there or do you have to go to a different dealership?
Most 125s aren't really offered in the US market.
6:54 I thought i only got cramps 😂 I started stretching before rides . I always had cramp legs 😂
Who is taking these 3rd person clips of you ?!
many, I won't say all of other think this bike is fun to ride and all the positive comment on this bike, and there's this video
Chase, i reaally love this bike, but i'm 5'7 do you think I can ride one of those? Help meeeee
I think you can, you can adjust the suspension. I am also 5'7 but don't own a bike
Jay thanks!
Did you end up getting it? If you did how do you like it?
congrats on one million!
Thanks. I’m so satisfied with the honest review.
How tall are you and what inseam?
Man I am seriously thinking about getting a super motto bike next. I just got a grom to stunt and play with ( TRY TOO 😂 ) . Love your videos man keep it up. Maybe one day my videos be as good as yours!
they fix their electronic foibles?
Yes, the SP maybe different
Dude awesome video review. Very detailed and helps potential buyers
If you have ever ridden w/ Chase you would know that he turns your bike off at lights.
You didn't mention what size engine horsepower torque etc
