This is the best contour video I've seen. Everyone uses contours that are way too bronzed. I've always used grey toned brown eyeshaws and people call me crazy! Lol. Thank you for proving me right! Lol

Robert Welsh omg I can’t believe you replied! I’ve only just found you and I’ve subscribed, I’m binge watching your videos! You remind me of the wonderful Wayne Goss, you both have a very classic and elegant approach to makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of Jeffree star, but as a 41year old with a disability I’d look a right plum with bright pink eyes and blinding highlighter every day 😆

Contour, highlight, bronzer. I've never done it that way, but I will now. Thank you! And I'm surprised how small of a brush you use to contour. Basically, you're doing everything different than Instagramers and it's so helpful!
It makes sense though. Every time I try to contour with a bigger brush, I feel like it takes up half my face.

You are the only beauty channel i pay attention to i am tired of "beauty gurus" its all just a bunch of stupid drama and people looking insane trying to ruin each others careers! anyway your videos have actually helped me so much! i was trying to do my concealer the way jeffree * was doing it and i ended up using an entire tube of concealer in like 2 weeks and...then i caught on...i was using twice the product and then..guess what u buy more! i absolutely love his concealer and i will always buy his products but i cannot afford to go through it so quickly!
I love how on instagram we throw out the concept of accentuate the positive and minimize the less desirable and just assume everyone has the same face shape and pack it all on the way models have done in a photoshoot or on a runway-- yes makeup has trends! But, you know tailor the trends to your needs not make your needs fit the trend. Thanks Robert you tell people what I've been telling my clients for... ugh 25 years. Which is amazing because I'm only 32! (not factual)

I learned a ton from you here! Thank you so much James. I've never done contouring or highlighting before because I was so afraid it would make my face look like a skeleton instead and seeing how a lot of women in real life have their contours so obvious, it looked like they wipe a dark brown color on the sides of their face. For me, makeup and shading should be subtle and meant to enhance the natural features rather than change the appearance to look like someone so different.
I followed this tutorial yesterday and it looked bomb! Didn't have the exact shade I wanted, but the cool and ashy tones look so much better and create a real shadow. I am learning so much! :)

I've been watching you for a few weeks and really love your personality, professionalism, wit and you are so knowledgeable. I'm learning so much. I can not figure out a good contour color for myself and don't have a lot of "greyish" shadows. I'm fair (kinda the shade of uncooked chicken) and cool toned. I don't even have a Sephora or Ulta near by to try so I have to order online, any suggestions please 💜
Oh my god! I learned how to do my makeup from drawing portraits of people and I don’t want to hype myself up but I always thought it was decent for a high schooler’s makeup, I always did these techniques included the grey toned brown. And then I started watching beauty gurus and I felt like I was wrong and I started doing my makeup like them and I didn’t like it. I forgot about this, thank you! :)

You just saved me from wasting a ton of money on a Viseart contour -bronzer kit , cause I realized I have a perfect grey makeup forever shadow which is super patchy on the eyes but works well as a contour color. Plus this tip with bending head works great. I finally got it.

I have a VERY square face and medium olive skin. I've never known the "right" shape to follow since everyone was contouring the same shape. While picking the color will still be challenging for me, I think this will help a lot. Thanks so much.
