- Lolololol I changed my contour routine again 🙃🥲. Listen, if you know me at all you know I change my contour routine like every 3 seconds because I love to experiment! Maybe the PERFECT routine is out there and I have yet to find it. But there are a few techniques and tips that are always here to stay. I absolutely love the way you describe and explain everything. It makes it so easy to understand and visualize. My face shape is similar but not exact so when you describe why you do something it helps me understand maybe I would do it a different way for different features on my face. ❤️
I was super snatched in the face when I was much younger but my face is getting rounder and less defined as I'm getting older and now I have no idea where any of my makeup placement is meant to go 😅 This is really helpful, thank you so much for all the information, Alex!

I shape my face a bit. I don’t go too cool but I will use darker colours in areas that I want to recede. I love listening to “The Artist Alex” explaining contouring. Thank you

Another TH-camr recommended DRMTLGY sunscreen color corrector for the eyes and it’s an amazing product. It protects, conceals and colour corrects. Thank you for this tutorial. To all the women with fuller faces - embrace it because we lose volume/fat as we age.
Honestly, I am offering myself up as a guinea pig/demonstration example of a middle-aged woman who needs to learn how to contour (if one wants to) a round, slightly pudgy face. :grin: I loved watching this video but I have NO idea how to correctly contour my own face since I have a much different shape than you have. But! Quite a few of my friends have similar face shapes and I'm sure there's lots of us middle-aged roundish faced ladies out there. :)

Honestly I admire anyone’s patience and dedication to do all this! I have always loved makeup but I was young and a punk, so it was creative and fun. Now it just feels like hard work, and not really enjoyable anymore.

Question: Can you apply powder contour with a Sponge? Whenever I use a face-brush(blush, foundation, contour, ect), I end up making my Roseaca flare up...
Can you do a video on how to UNDERLINE your lip??? Convincingly. I can't find ANYTHING. Everything is JUST about OVERlining. I have a really fat bottom lip though and I HATE IT. I don't want huge lips. I think smaller bottom lips are just more attractive but I can't figure out how to minimise mine convincingly. Concealer tends to crack or just wear off by the end of the day and foundation isn't opaque enough to make a difference
M opinion I to over emphasise your top lip. May work?
I find this quite funny in a sense , because your face is in pretty good normal porportion . Its just that we are so used to seeing surgically enhanced or procedure enhanced that we think our cheeks aren't full enough , my face is wide etc
All different shaped faces are normal , we need to compare our faces back in the 60's before filler , botox , buckle fat removal , implants , brow lifts , coloured contacts to create the perfect sky blue eye .
I mean contour away because you want to be more snatched maybe , but not because you have imperfections .
Sis, I have a tiny nose and every single frontal camera makes me look like a caricature hahaha
My face is so puffy and round and I hate it. I’m working thru some medical issues and my face has changed in a lot to me in 3(ish) years. I’ve had to rapidly find out new ways to enjoy makeup to enjoy myself. It’s been difficult, but I will try some of these techniques!

I'm realizing we have a very similar facial structure (down to the deeper tear troughs) and as I am getting older, I feel like my face is getting wider and weirdly rounder too. It's wild - I thought I was supposed to lose volume in my face as I got older, but alas. Appreciate you and these videos!

Question!! how do you not ruin your lip combo when you do glam for a dinner/meal?? i feel like i do all this work to contour w the lip liner, then top it with a gloss or stain or oil and even if i dont have a meal it starts to get all messed up 😖😖

I'm gonna be devil's advocate here... you do not have a round face, but after contouring you do too my looking at you.... Your nose is very narrow, your cheek bones are high up, n beautiful!! We all see ourselves differently than others.. you are beautiful the way you are. I have a very round face, n wide nose, but the way i see myself, n others see me is soo different, not in a bad way just differently... I ❤your videos!!! Just remember as we (age)get older, the makeup technics keep changing.. I am always trying different contouring,bronzing etc... but ultimately my face shape will almost always be round, (but) just older.. Thx Alex
BEGGING for drugstore summer proof makeup. It’s hard enough for me to find makeup that doesn’t smudge on my eyes and in the south in the SUMMER it’s so much more difficult. My issue is because im oily, waterproof makeup doesn’t seem to work on me because my oily skin breaks it down. Girl HELP ME

Hi! Can you talk about setting and finishing powders? Like which formulas look for, which ones work well with flash photography and which ones don't, which ones to use on different areas of the face, which brands you recommend etc. Products are so expensive, I really don't know where to start. I just use pressed powder for everything but I don't think it looks anywhere near as good as yours. I don't know what you used, but it TRANSFORMED your makeup at the end. LOVE your videos, thank you for such good content! ❤❤❤❤
Alex, I have a sunscreen recommendation for you! I have the same problem as you do where chemical sunscreens sting my eyes no matter what. about a week ago I bought the haruharu wonder black rice mineral sunscreen, and for me it replaces the cetaphil sheer mineral liquid sunscreen that I'd been using. the cetaphil sunscreen wasn't perfect but it was the best I could find, and I prefer the haruharu one, since it's spf 50+ instead of spf 50, doesn't make my face so shiny, and isn't oily and runny like the cetaphil. I got mine from amazon (it's also sold on yesstyle) for about $12, which is great as I'd been paying about $15 for the cetaphil sunscreen in stores. love u and ur videos!!!

Wonderful. I find myself not contouring at all AND wanting to put my blush lower.....yes you heard it...lower than the current trend lately which is blushing very high. Does blushing high really create a youthful look???? I don't know. I work with kids and their natural flush tends to be in the hollow of the cheeks and a bit on the apples. Hmmmmm. Oddly enough that lower blush application is sooooooo lovely. Wondering when that trend will return.
I'd be interested to see how you would contour when you have extra buccal fat (I call it the chipmunk effect) especially when you're almost 40 like me and everything is very slowly submitting to gravity 😅

I love to watch you doing contour but I can't stand it on myself. My face is already too sharp and gaunt cause I'm skinny af 🥲. I'd love the opposite -that is to make my cheeks appear more chubby and my face a bit shorter but whatevs...

I wonder how many people are overdoing the nose makeup because of tye fish eye effect of most smartphone front camera lenses. What do you think? Should we do our makeup for how we actually look in real life or how we would look in the front camera?

i have a baby face but I also have a pretty strong jawline so "standard/Instagram" cheek contouring makes me look sick or manly 😫
When I do my makeup recently… because I am 49 yrs old, with dry skin, I do my prep, clean, hydrated skin first of all. But I do my concealer, my cream contour and blush, because I have freckle’s across my nose and like seeing them. Then I lightly apply foundation to my face to balance out my complexion. I find it makes me use less product, and I don’t get weighed down with extra product to my skin than needed.
I'd love if you could make a video for big nose contour. I just can't seem to find anything that looks right. I don't necessarily care about making it smaller because it is what it is but I'd like to make it cute. 🥺 The side profile is tragic. 😩
I have a very narrow and long face with almost no volume anywhere and it's impossible to find a contour routine for myself. Any narrow faced people with the same problem?

Hey I've looked at many different you tube tutorial s on contouring but have yet to find one that works for me. My problem is that I have a round forehead . So should I even be doing contour on my face at all.😢😢
6:25 I’m only here so contouring hasn’t started yet so may be saying something you’re going to do, but you are currently talking about your cheeks being flat (which is stunning as is your whole face) but have you tried curving the contour around that area to create that roundness. May delete if that’s what you’re about to do 😂 it’s fun to play with face shape.

I feel like for your face shape its important to keep the blush placement away from the mid cheek and only in the area where you did your contour to add extra lift and definition.

21:40 thanks for the laugh line crease. Been doing the concealer on that area as I have prominent laugh lines but on the while line and then they crease. 😔
THIS is a contour tutorial that people should follow and not in order to actually contour the same way as you do BUT to hear you analyzing your face shape and thus adjusting your contouring as to what one wants to achieve.
I sometimes wear my La girl corrector and nothing else. It blends so nicely into my under eye area

Dude my face shape has that slightly more forward nose (but not large) and chin more backwards, it's one of my biggest insecurities. Thanks for the inspiration! Contouring is art! I also have light visual weight face - i think - I would love to see the differences on those two!
You can fix it using mouth tape when you sleep. Look into it.

I can’t ever get the jawline contour right. 98% of the time it’s too dark or I blend it away. My color in all honesty probably is too dark. Thanks for the video
If your color is too dark try mixing it with a little foundation to get the right contrast! 🙌🏼
