  • In this video I will be talking about the effects of bad tempo and rhythm and how this can affect your swing sequence. This is a topic that everyone hears about but dont really pay much attention to because it is not very technical. However, your tempo can definitely improve the quality of your contact and improve distance.

    Jonathan, I am most TH-cam taught golfer, never been taught by any instructor in person. I have viewed many TH-cam golf coaching. You are one of the best technically. Keep up the work and I liked very much!

    Honestly, this guy is amazing. I have spent thousands on in person instruction over the years and watching some of the video are better time spent. He explains things so well. He has a cause and effect type of instruction. Most instructors will be like “keep your head steady” without giving you reasons why this is happening. Good stuff bro keep it up. !

    Greetings from Florida. Amazing instruction. I’ve watched hours of online lessons and you are, by far, a much better instructor. Thanks for keeping it simple and getting straight to the point without all the hoopla and showing off that other instructors tend to do. Keep up the good work and keep ‘em coming.

    Jonathan is so easy to understand, and what he talks about makes so much sense! I took one online lesson from him, went to the practice range for about an hour, implementing what we discussed, and shot my best nine holes of my life! One over par! Three birdies! I did ruin it on the back nine because I went back to old habits but that’s a very difficult thing to do is to build new muscle memory that sticks. I’m super excited about continuing to work with Jonathan !

    Jonathan, I put into place your forearm drill for the first time yesterday and the results were immediate. I’m a 67 year old golfer that places to an 8 index and my consistent miss would be a fade, push or slice.
    I thought that I would snap hook all of my shots with your crossover drill, but was I wrong. Best ball striking day in a long time, with drives that were routinely straight and long. 250+.
    Keep up your informational lessons.

    The "Orange Whip" is the same type of tempo training aid as your 7 iron, but it's a driver. I used it for a few years. It helped me a bit. No magic cure for learning tempo. But the Orange Whip has a heavy club head and also forces you to feel the club drop into the proper swing plane as well as giving you a feel for tempo. Great video add usual. You are an excellent instructor.

    This is such a timely video ☝🏻
    I have been trying to swing SLOWER, and have gotten some better results lately.
    I think I, like most others, SWING FASTER (HARDER) than we should in an effort to get more clubhead SPEED and distance. But, I think you want that speed at impact OR just after impact.
    I also find my swing SPEEDS UP as I get further into the round. I really have to focus on it to remain in balance.
    I need to harness my inner Hideki Matsuyama and think about a slight pause at the top.
    Great video 👍🏻
    Keep up the good work.

    Just today first time out in NY for the '23 season, i was hacking around as usual. On the 10th hole while taking a practice swing, I got a twinge in my right hip, so i slowed everything down and swung very easy. The funny thing is it felt so good, and i began hitting nice straight shots. Night & day. I have the Orange whip but you cannot use it the range like the lag shot.

    You have by far the most relevant and effective golf teaching videos. Your drills to help ingrain the instruction are fantastic. I ordered the gForce club to help with my tempo. But your discount code doesn’t work. You may want to research. Thanks again for improving my swing and game!

    Tempo is a topic of great importance in my mind & one rarely covered, so this is a timely excellent vid. I find that my tempo is related to how far back I take the club on the takeaway. Sometimes I take the club too far back & the results are not always good. A shorter swing seems to suit me, maybe because it slows down my downswing, which has always been a problem.

    Jonathan, in the pic for your backswing video it looks like you are reallly bending the shaft at the first move down with an iron. Are you that strong, or is your timing so perfect or did you use a soft almost whippy shaft to stress that key move?

    I just bought the lag club which is suppose to do the same thing. It took me a little while to be able to hit it. What is the difference with this club compared to the lag club?

    • @gforcegolf
      @gforcegolf ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Pamela, GFORCE is a standard weight club, transition from swing training and regular club is much easier, quicker and realistic because it is just like a regular golf club, apart from the shaft which gives you instant feedback and you can swing flat out. Others on the market are much heavier versions of the original 2016 GFORCE model. Swinging anything heavier requires a completely different force to swing it, so when you switch back to a regular club its like swinging a pool noodle. I reduced the weight for that reason, thanks

    Do you want a 1:1 ratio? I've always heard 3:1 is ideal. Sorry if i misheard you i'm just curious.
    Your videos are awesome. I've taught myself off your golf videos. i'm down to a single digit handicap in two years. I owe it to your guidance. I appreciate the videos please keep them coming!!

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 1:1 ratio would just be a feel for those who have a quick transition into the downswing. This feel would tend to smooth out their transition

    Why can’t golf instructors understand tempo vs rhythm? Good rhythm is much more important than the tempo. Many pros have quick tempos but pros have rhythm around 3:1 backswing:downswing
