JKM has the best golf channel on the internet by far. Excellent and clear advice. Also has great hair.
Might be one of the best golf teaching videos I've ever seen. Thank you Jonathan.
Just learning to play golf, and love your clear, well thought out explanations! I also appreciate the slow motion visuals. It is very frustrating and unhelpful to me to have someone explain something and then do it full speed. It happens too quickly for me to be able to appreciate it.
Ah the old reverse pivot or negative weight shift. This is maybe the number one problem you'll see with a lot of high handicappers. Big distance killer and big reason for fat shots. Great lesson here that everyone should see. Nicely explained.
Thanks very much Jonathan for devoting more time to this critical part of the golf swing.
Still my all time fav coach here! Perfect info! 100% true
Jonathan very simple to understand. You are a huge help for me.. all your videos are clear and easy to follow 👍🏼
you have a gift of explaining the golf swing very concise and easy to understand thanks for posting
You are a great creative teacher Jonathan. Really great videos!!
Very good stuff here. It's addressing one of my main issues at the moment. The visuals with the circles really help illustrate what a proper finish looks like.
Thanks Jonathan for posting another great video. Your explanations are always clear. I love applying your lessons on the golf course and seeing myself improve. Ty!!!
Excellent explanation and demonstration of weight shifting on down swing. It works.
Very good visual . The comparison side by side is great . Thank you
Exactly my problem and I’m trying to sort this out. I sky my irons and lose vital distances. Thanks for your clear teaching.
You make great and relevant videos, thank you. Keep up the good work!
Great video to show how to get the upper center forward along with the lower center. Thanks.
Great video I wish I would have learn this when I first started playing golf ! Definitely gave me a better understanding of the golf swing thanks buddy
Hi Jonathan, thanks a lot. I have been watching your videos.... you are so great to explain everything so clear and details to the point.😊..... great instructor.
Jonathan, you are the best TH-cam golf teacher out there. Thank you!
Wow i have exactly that problem & i tend to fall off balance after contact as well...so i need to focus on a more complete transition vs pelvis onlt. Great video!
Thanks for showing me that move that why I been slice my driver sometimes hanging back and hit it high right occasionally and not getting thru the shot well yes sir your a great coach
JKM is the best on TH-cam! He’s giving the golf cheat code!
That is a great tip for golf swing. It is awesome for golfers. Thanks
Thank you for pointing out the true issue and the clear explanation! Learning a lot from your videos.
Great video, I really enjoy your content. Easy to follow, excellent instruction.
Great lesson. Helped me tremendously. My hips were finishing but my shoulder was hanging back a bit. With the proper balanced finish, my dispersion rates have tightened up very nicely. Thank you for the lesson!
Really like your style and presentation, you have helped me a lot. The best instructor on TH-cam!!👍⛳
Hi Jonathan. Just wanted to drop a note of thanks. Great channel. Great content. I really appreciate the well thought out videos.
Great Jonathan,
Thank you for advise,
Tony
Very good explanation and demonstration of the proper weight shift during a golf swing. It's technically correct relative to engineering dynamics of bodies in motion....Thanks a lot Kim...I will try to adapt this to my golf swing and hope to gain some distance...Cheers!!!
Great explanation for those of us with weight shift issues.
I've been watching a few golf videos to try and improve my game. This channel and another one by Paul Wilson have some of the best and easiest to understand lessons. Only complaint I have is that I'm left-handed and the lessons often speak of specific left shoulder or right leg movements instead of trail shoulder and lead leg, which is less confusing for me since I have to try and reverse whatever they say when using the word left or right.
Very clear message, thank you from germany
Watched a lot of videos and they only focus on the hips going forward. Appreciate your explanation that the shoulder too should move forward. Great teaching!
Your recommendation on getting the left shoulder and left knee orientation prior to impact is good to focus on-will try it out. This should prevent premature tilting back of the upper body and spine.
I've learn so much from you Jonathan. Your instruction is one of the clearest on TH-cam. While I shift my weight, how come my left glute hurts after a while? Am I shifting too much weight onto my left leg before impact or am I really that weak?
Top stuff,very clearly explained.
Thia is probably my worst swing fault, Thank you for a simple concept and drill to use.
Thank you for this tip, Jonathan.
Good good. Thanks Johnathan.
One of the nicest looking swings I think I’ve ever seen
My new favorite teacher.
I struggle with this problem which causes me to chuck my shots. Thanks for the great tips.
Thank for the great lesson. I alway have the same problem to hold my balance because of over swing. I am in Korea now and someday I would like to see you in Korea. Have a nice day
"stay centered", "turn in a barrel", "do not sway".. these are a few of the instructions from the past. Following these ideas makes weight shift very hard to accomplish. It is the buggaboo of many trying to make solid contact. Very good lesson young man.
Yes. Lots of confusing golf instruction both past and present.
Absolutely Red. It was 30 years before someone told me left-shift was really important (and I am SFH!) Yet those pros 30 years ago were top players too...did they not do it? Did they not feel it?! Did they not see it in top pros?! Puzzling!
Excellent video. very well explained a nd practical drills
Johnathan great lessons.
Mu dude I have been trying to work on this and somuch info out there. This is a great video and well explained as always. Still getting settled. Once I am will hit u up.
Great video! I tend to have that issue where I am a bit slidey, and don’t get my upper body across enough into impact.
I noticed the sense of downward movement in the last drill.
I think I’ll try experimenting with a feeling of the right hip moving downward - I think that will help
Good tips. Thanks a lot!
You have the perfect swing brother!
excellent video thank you!
Great lesson! One other thing to note, is that you need to begin the weight shift as you reach the top of your backswing. In other words, the downswing is triggered by the lower body and core, not the arms.
Thank you J.
Great visuals and tips. This is currently what I seem to be struggling with in my golf swing at the moment so thanks for sharing and opening my eyes a little more to my issue. Only thing I think you could also throw in there is the fact that if you do not shift your upper body forward with the hips in unison, you won't even really have a complete finish with your eyes, hips and trail knee facing your target.
Exactly. I understand the logic of shifting your weight but I can't get it to occur smoothly like he does it. I had the same issue when I took boxing classes. I couldn't get my hips in the punches and therefore I lost out on power.
Superb…..would like to see a tip on how to avoid a sway forward, and to insure the hips open.
Thank you so much!!!!
Another Golftech instructor video stresses finishing with the upper body tilting back with the chest upwards. Your instruction makes more sense and feels better. Thanks Jonathan
He's really good at explaining. I went to a GolfTec instructor for lessons and $500 later and I still couldn't make reasonable contact with the ball. The guy I had just told me obvious things about what I need to do but never really gave me workable drills to actually learn to do those things.
Stance width must be very important to keep good balance? Thank you, excellent instruction. I’ve learned a lot.
great teaching point
Good video. I feel like you should do the next video explaining the importance of opening your hips with the weight shift. I struggled majorly earlier this summer with sliding because I kept thinking “just get your weight to the left”. Yes get your weight to the left but just as, if not more important, is turning your hips and dropping your left butt check back to create room for the swing. Sliding leads to its own set of frustrating problems.
Brian & JKM,
Totally identify with what Brian is saying here. I don’t fall back but also don’t rotate through so that my belt buckle faces the target. Therefore my extension thru the ball is not very good, folding up a bit after impact. Would love to see a follow up video on that.
JKM, love your content as well as your methodology ! You have a gift imo.
Regards, Steve
This is where I'm at. I had a not so good instructor a couple of years ago through Golf Tec and he made it seem like you just slide to the left but that feels awkward and throws me off balance. Have you found any videos that illustrate this?
@@areddishfish4402 - I’ve seen a couple recently on the “bump” that good players make as they complete their backswing.
JKM May have covered. Have also seen such topic on Athletic Golf Motion (I think).
Great advice again
It is me!!!! Thanks. And more often I incorrectly revert the upper part with wedges, no matter set 80/20 up. Any cure or a new vid on weight transfer with short irons?
I have that exact problem. But, when I do try and shift my weight to the lead side, (right handed), I tend to pull the ball left.
Thank You 😁.
Great explanation
This guy is the goat
Excellent Video Topics.
Much appreciated
What is the triger move by the time you are in transition between backswing to downswing to help you think about moving forward , Like pushing with the right foot or let yourself fall thowars the target that will give the kick start to help remind or promote the shift of your weigth forward ? Thanks
You mentioned during this excellent instruction that it is about iron swing. Can you or did you make a similar instruction on driver and weight shift?
Excellent as always, Jonathan! This is definitely a problem I have. When I do make good contact, I seem to push the ball out left (I'm left handed). Could this be why?
I’m left-handed too. This is definitely one reason. I recorded myself earlier when hitting and I saw that this was what I was doing. In doing so, it will either create fat shots and/or slices to the left because it opens up the club face. But with these drills, we’ll fix this!! 💪🏾💪🏾
Thank you!
King, love it😭🔥
Thanks!
Slow motion is good, Thanks
Great video, but I'm still unclear about one thing: How exactly should I accomplish the weight/pressure shift? Is it mainly the feet doing the work, or the hips (or both)? How much of it is the trail foot pushing the body forward? Thanks.
You need to discuss integration of the translation to forward weight load with the rotation of the hips, arms, club, and upper body.
Boom! Very good
Sweet swing
👍
What does swaying forward look like as opposed to this weight shift?
Awesome video. Subscribed and shared
great video can you do same with driver?
Thank you
Quick tip for anyone who struggles with their upper body trailing behind. Ensure your lead arm is straight.
A straight lead arm means you’re applying downward pressure, causing the arm to effectively act as a pendulum. This forces the lead shoulder to stay connected, on plane, and to shift with your hips.
I have been seeing a lot of golfers actually load their back foot prior to loading the front foot prior to starting the down swing. This is like throwing a baseball, which makes sense to me. This is contrary to your early loading of the front foot. I have had success following your approach but I feel like I am leaving a lot of speed on the table. What do you think.
Can you do a video about being across the line with driver and how to fix it
excellent
Do you use this same weight shift as well when using a driver?
Wondering if a closed stance would promote a easier weight shift? For me it seems to create more weight on my left side at address.
As u said move upper and lower body moves forward but then head moves too and head supposed to stay behind not forward. Look at any pro his head is always leaning back pulling upper body back.
🎉🎉🎉you are the bestest
What about the driver, is it the same wieght shift transition?
Do you make the same move with driver
Does this apply to drivers as well?
How are you pushing off back leg
This can get many slicers forward lunging at the ball and ahead of it at impact too soon
Hi Johnathan, are you still teaching the stack and tilt swing.
Yes I can among other variations
😊
golf
i also think people OVERestimate the shift needed. It's only a few inches of forward shift in the downswing needed
Isn't that the reverse C that looks like Johnny Miller?
