- This film was shot on the Sony FX6 in five countries across Africa over six weeks. It was an incredible feat for our 3-person crew. The intention was to create a passion piece that represented the values of our production company Grafton Create on a new cinema-line camera:
1. Be willing to take risks
2. Capture what we feel, not just what we see
3. Nature is our canvas. Always
4. Pleasure is in the adventure

Hey everyone, hope you enjoyed the film. I see a few comments asking what lenses were used.
Here they are.
- Sony 14mm f1.8
- Sony 35mm f1.4
- Sony 50mm f1.2
- Sony 200-600mm f5.6
Changing lenses must have been some serious production, considering wind and sand conditions. Thanks for the share!
were the lenses all GM?

Would love to hear/see more about your color grading process! Seeing what you're squeezing out of that Sony sensor is stunning!
why İstanbul footages in ''the africas'' video?
I don't think the typical viewer realizes how much work goes into something like this. Subbed, because this was not only beautifully shot by both ground and air teams but because I can appreciate the lengths your team went through to produce this. Bravo
I completely agree and same reason I Subbed.
True
And the underwater shots with the dolphins, ugh... unreal
Everyone realizes how much work this is!
everybody know
As a documentary filmmaker in Ethiopia, I have dedicated a significant amount of time to my craft. However, witnessing this masterpiece has ignited a renewed sense of creativity within me. I am deeply inspired and salute the creators for their outstanding work. From Ethiopia, I extend my heartfelt appreciation and admiration. Keep it coming, please.
Now that's the spirit solider
Honestly. This is not about the camera. I understand that the FX6 is awesome. But to shoot this and edit this takes real talent. The amount of work, creativity and dedication you guys put into this is amazing and can be done by only few creators. Bravo. Keep doing this and growing. I am not sure what you guys aim for. But if you bring more user friendly content in this quality. It will blow up. NO one is doing it. Hats off to you guys. Everyone who participated in making this video.
you think this was look as captivating with panasonic camera? it wouldn't.
Nothing to do with it
As an Ethiopian , I want to say thank you for brining attention to an aspect of my country and by extension my continent that is seldom noted. It's nice to celebrate the beauty of these places for a change, especially when it's the prevalent poverty that usually takes center stage.
You are welcome cuh.
@@BristolBerg nuh buh tuh duh
Hopefully the Grand Renaissance Dam will bring wealth to your country.
ELLIOT... this is EXCEPTIONAL... a masterpiece really! Knowing those landscapes and knowing this camera, I can only imagine how much it took to create this. Yes, you have talent but something like this takes immense commitment, well done dude you can be proud!
This should be submitted to Oscars and other international awards. Remarkable film making.
Nice showcase video, but absolutely has NOTHING to do with filmmaking.
Thank you. These hivemind "filmmaker" community of idiots swarming everything...@@jangdi.
Epic, keep up the good work
Phenomenal work mate!! Incredible quality. Doesn’t get much better than this🎉
Some of the most beautiful visuals I’ve ever seen!!! Love how you blend sound, movement & colour together to form a really rhythmic and immersive film ⚡️Love it dude!
My man, appriciate this so much coming from you!!!
As an Ethiopian and a videographer I felt both emotions of the shots, edits and the gears as well as the places. Such an exquisite and magnificent masterpiece. Thank you.
I'm Ethiopian 🇪🇹 I dont have words to explain your great job bro! Thank for your inspiration bro you are Guinness!!
It's great seeing my country like this some of the mostly beautiful places and creatures in Ethiopia. Even places and people that represent my religion. Thank you ❤.. that was beautiful
Brother it has been years since I saw a video like this, it remembers me of the essence of the 2017 vibe, when the travel and landscape were on the top of the greatest videos, talking not just about the filmmaking of this piece, but of the conscious behind the edit timeline, the moments of the music. How well you blend the behind the scenes footage with all the beauty of nature is simply perfect!
I'm absolutely speechless! Those Emotions, Colors, Cuts, Shots.. how do I list everything!!?? I just don't have any words to express what I'm feeling right now!! This is SO DAMN GOOD!!❤❤❤
Genuinely felt emotional after watching this. The efforts taken, the cinematography, the MUSIC, the story..... EPIC!!!
This is ridiculously good! Incredible work brother!
thanks mate, great team effort
Jaw dropping is an absolutely inadequate term to described what I just witnessed. Unbelievable work.
One of the best cinematic videos I think I've EVER seen. The amount of effort put into this is just crazy! I hope there's more! Subbed.
I feel like I haven't seen a piece of art in the video world like this in a while. This was inspiring!
This is essentially an entire season of Our Planet packed into 6 minutes. Stuff like this pushes me to get better at my craft everyday. The commitment, skill and patience to get this done...oooff!! Take a bow.
And take my sub :)
This is on another level unlike any other cinematic shots I’ve seen! I am blown away by such artistry! 😭
How you articulated the footage with the Behind The Scenes is just incredible! This gave me goosebumps, congratulations for this masterpiece
The flow of this video feels so different yet so refreshing! Seeing those FPV shots in there is just the cherry on top! Really great work!
The Lalibella shots sent chills down my spine, this is some of the best creative work I've ever seen.
By far the best cinematic video with FX6🔥🔥 Big kudos to cinematographer, editor, colorist, sound engineer
Beautiful world, beautiful people, breathtaking shot. In some of the scenes i forget to take a breath for a while. In the scene you were running with joy I could feel as i was there. The details the sand, the breeze, I could literally feel it as if i were there. I don’t have enough words to express how i feel right now and soo grateful for this beautiful world we live in. Just bravo!! I’m glad i came across this video. Thank you for this moment.
Great video! I was in Ethiopia a while back, what an incredible place! Lalibela, Afar, Danakil, you made me remember good times! The trip to Erta Ale, such an amazing place! Congratulations.
Beautiful land, beautiful people, and beautifully shot and edited. Incredible work Elliot!
wow! just wow! the color grading, the sound design, the editing and shooting skills! i am speachless!
I always thought a 2 minutes video takes exactly two minutes to create, or a 5 minutes video requires only five minutes. Not knowing anything about cameras and wanting to tell stories here on TH-cam somehow got me started, and it was then and only then that I realised I was wrong the whole time. I can not thank this team enough for all the time they invested in putting this masterpiece together.
Holy coww dude! This is so insane. You absolutely killed this! Some of the highest quality and cleanest looking shots out of Africa that I've seen. Big sub!
This is incredible! The whole flow of the video and the visuals are the highest level! Love it bro!
thanks so much josh
Elliot I don't think you understans how mesmerized, impressed and inspired I am.
I can't even begin to explain my awe to your colorgrading, composition and cinematography. You are the PINNACLE of an example of how ONE (or a few) person/people with a travel friendly light setup can create mind-boggling hollywood material that surpasses teams of 10-20-30 people and productions with double digit thousands of dollars of gear and camera.
If one day I have 25% of the skills and knowledge you have I'll be contempt.
This is the type of content and quality I've dreamt of being able to make for nearly 6 years.
It's my dream to have a drone I can strap my camera to. Capturing beautiful shots like this in an FPV style is immaculate. Incredible piloting for the drone shots, something the Mini 2 can never produce even in FPV mode. Great editing as well, it tells a story and that's what filmmaking is. Great job showcasing not what the camera can do, but what you can do. Love my fellow creatives.
All I can say is thank you for all your dedication and time put into this project. I was in awe of every shot and the editing you did. What a time to be able to watch art like this. Keep Going
I just keep coming to back watch this masterpiece every now and then
These kind of films will be played to people living in 2100. Incredible capture of the world! I often forget how beautiful the world is!
This is one of those films I will re-watch over and over again. Everything in this video is next level. The color grading, shots, pacing, music. I just want you to know there's at least one person who appreciates all the work you out into this masterpiece. Amazing work brother, just subbed.
Bro... The world was not ready for this heat!! This was truly wild. All 6 minutes of this I had my mouth wide open lol. This quality is insane. You made me want to get a cinelifter for next year hahaha
This was absolutely amazing. Thanks for shooting it in 21:9. Always nice to view content in that aspect.
I came back to this video couple to times and every time it feels as if i am watching it for the first time. Incredible work by Everyone.
I came across this video by chance and thought it was an official promotional video from Sony.
Incredible work, really! Beautiful interplay of music and images.
These shots are just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
And the colorgrading/edit was phenomenal. Great work guys!
Probably the most insane footage from Africa that I've seen !
Absolutely beautifully shot and edited. The music, color grade, and camera moves brought it all together. Keep sharing your passion with the world.
Hello Grafton team!
As video production company from Romania, this was really inspiring to see: what can a group of professional and passionate friends can achieve with skill, madness and dedication. It was so well put together, the rhythm was magnificent and it left you feeling something: what a great world and Creator we have. I really took that quote and I will apply it: dont shoot what you see, shoot what you feel. Awesome job. I wish you the best!
I am out of words, Being a DOP myself Just realizing how much you and your whole team had to go through to capture all this and then the whole post work to make something out of it This beautifully, I am just in love with every frame from ground to the underwater sequences. Keep Creating, More power to you brother Love from Pakistan ♥
Truly magnificent.....The video, the sound design...Everything is phenomenal
The planning that went into the music's timing and the timeframe of the cut. The way you combined the behind-the-scenes video with all the splendor of nature is really wonderful!
Capture what you feel..Not what you see..WOW!! You guys just gave me inspiration to get out and shoot...Amazing Work of Art..And Great is yet to come
Wow! Absolutely stunning work, Elliot. Love how you created this. Really just outstandingly captured 👏❤
This was a true masterpiece... This will be something I can see myself coming back to for years or inspiration, and creativity... Truly beautiful. Thank you for what you and your team were able to bring to all of us as film makers, and viewers.
This Alone just inspired an entire concept for something I've been working on for a long time. THANK YOU!
this is incredible work!!!beautiful shots and the amount of risk taken in capturing these shots has been commendable !!! simply mind blowing
Those are really some of the best visuals of animals and drone I’ve seen 🤯 Tremendous work ! Huge congrats 🙌🔥
This is one of the most amazing videos that I've seen in a long time! Thank you, and congrats for what you've done. You are reaching viewers' hearts, and that is a very difficult task to accomplish.
The sounds.. the tension.. the everything. Absolutely amazing!
Ahhh yes mate!!! Some genuine inspiration, awesome work. 👏
Wow ! 🤯 This is a MASTERPIECE 💯I would love to see the editing process and a walkthrough of how you colorgrade the footage, add SFX and Music.

Man I can't tell how many times I've watched this. I admire your dedication on this video, I know it was a lot of hard physical and creative work. Amazing production and post quality dude!!
I'm not just amazed. This gave me more that I can even explain. A masterpiece is hard to come by and equally as hard to accept.
So,so,so, much beauty!!!!!!!🔴🫢🤫the cinematography is just amazing!!!!!🤫

Even with the current dip in crypto, I'm very grateful for the level-headed financial advice I got recently. I started stock and crypto investment with $5,345 and since following an FA for few weeks now, I've gotten $19,539 in my portfolio Thanks so much Mr Ricardo Taylor...
Amazing, I think an investment is easier with proper guidance, especially from a financial advisor...it helps reduce the chances of running into losses. All thanks to this same Mr. Ricardo Taylor who made it possible and I was able to pay off my mortgage.,
This is not the first time I am hearing of Mr. Ricardo Taylor and his exploits in the trading world but I have no idea how to reach him...
He is really great at what he does with amazing skills, he changed my 0.1BTC to 2.1BTC within two weeks of trading, and I am now fully confident that he is reliable.❤❤
How do I reach out to him please??
He's active on telegram
Absolutely breath taking 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🏆
thanks for taking the time not only to display the landscapes but also the people, really makes me hungry for the future of African cinema shot within the continent one day
