    I had already installed the replacement radio and it didn't work (easily done & I'm an electrical controls tech) but what I could NOT find was the making the new unit recognized by the computer! Thank You. Works great.

    Ruben - thank you SO MUCH! I have a 2010 Canyon 4x4 with OnStar. I'm a 40-something mom who has had NO experience with stereo installation. I watched your video a few times and just finished installing a Kenwood DPX500DP in my truck. Your chime unit tip was helpful. Of course, I had to sacrifice the Onstar hookup, but I only used it for hands free calling anyway. My new stereo does that for me! I am delighted. Thanks for your detailed install and removal video. I knew just what to expect. Thanks!

      You are very welcome, Jackie! I know when I searched I couldn't find a good clear video of this, so I decided to make one. I'm glad it has helped you! Enjoy your new Kenwood! :)

    Great video! Need to swap the stereo on my 2007 Colorado, and your video should make it simple! Best part is that I know beforehand to get the antenna adapter. I was curious about it, so I should be good to go.

    Everything works with my stereo, but on my wiring harness I have key 1, key 2 and and audio connection coming from chime unit. I don't see where to hook these up. As a result my stereo does not turn off and on when starting the vehicle. I will have to research this more. You gave some great information and I thank you for that.

      jesus tarango I actually got the radio at an electronics sales. But you can buy it for the same price at Walmart. I paid about $60 for it, and it has an RC input in front and back to plug into your MP3 or phone.

    Thanks for the video, Ruben. Quick question: by following your instructions, will the satellite radio also work?

    • @RubenRodriguezMomentos
      @RubenRodriguezMomentos  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, Jake King. The radio I was installing did not have satellite radio, so I didn't have to worry about that. But if you are installing a radio with XM Radio or something, the wiring harness will be different, I believe. Check out your radio first, to see if it has satellite radio. And if so, order that harness accordingly on the website I listed in the video. Good luck!

    Muy buen video espero entiendas espanol. Unas dudas: este procedimiento es para cualquier tipo de estereo???donde consigues los adaptadores para el nuevo estereo?? gracias por tu tiempo.

    • @RubenRodriguezMomentos
      @RubenRodriguezMomentos  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sam Perdon que apenas estoy viendo tu comentaje. Este procedimiento es solamente para las trokas Chevrolet Colorado, pero es muy similar a todas las instalaciones de radio. Los adaptadors los consegui en el sitio de la red que se muestra en las letras en el video. Ponle pausa cuando salen las letras para que anotes la informacion alli. Gracias!

    @Matt Gdrums - I agree. Luckily they sell these radios with AUX inputs, plus they do have a version with a USB input as well, in case you have music on a flash drive. Good luck!

    Ruben, thanks for the step-by-step instructions on how to put in a radio replacement.. I'm doing the same thing now, only I'm caught up on the original wiring harnesses for the truck itself. When i pulled the factory radio out, i had to disconnect the same wiring harness that you disconnected but also the smaller one right next to it. I noticed you didn't have to disconnect yours. Is that because your truck didn't have that harness? I went to best buy and they told me that i would have to buy a interface that cost $149. I really don't want to spend that much on one part if I don't have to. Is there anyway you could help?

    • @RubenRodriguezMomentos
      @RubenRodriguezMomentos  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phil, I believe the wiring harness that I bought for the truck had both sides of the wiring for it. I'll have to watch the video again to recall, but the only thing you should need is the harness, even if it has OnStar or whatever. The pricing is almost the same. Then you just disconnect the factory stereo, and reconnect those wires with the new harness. Vóila!

    Glad I could help, John!

  • @RubenRodriguezMomentos
    @RubenRodriguezMomentos  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @AJ Cotton ... I don't recall which wire the chime went with, but I do know that the chime came as part of the new wiring harness. I just followed the instructions that came with the harness. I do believe the instruction are also online as a PDF if you wanna do a search on their website www.SonicElectronix.com Good luck!

    great video but the stereo doesnt turn on, stop at a shot thinking the harnesses were the problem but they told me i had to run a power cable and the cost is $95 dollars do you know anything about that cable. thanks

    • @RubenRodriguezMomentos
      @RubenRodriguezMomentos  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanx for watching, Edgar. The red wire that was feeding your previous radio is the same one that you connect to your new radio. That's the power wire. $95 is alot for something you already have. Take a closer look and you should be able to see it.

      +XKILLSTAR16X You can actually bypass the chime box. Just remember, it does help to remind you in case you leave your lights on, keys in ignition, blinker stuck, low gas, etc. Good luck!

    • @RubenRodriguezMomentos
      @RubenRodriguezMomentos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Kaden! The installation kit number is listed at :50 of the video. The stereo can be anything from name brand to generic, since the wiring will be basically the same. Good luck!

    • @kadengravey6288
      @kadengravey6288 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ruben Rodriguez how do I know if the stereo I get will fit the installation kit?

    • @RubenRodriguezMomentos
      @RubenRodriguezMomentos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kadengravey6288 I would advise to get the stereo first, then when you go to the installation kit website you will know which to pick. They are very thorough and the wiring will be very similar, so chances are the same harness works for many radio models. Good luck!

    Have a 3.5 only 80k on it. I changed the oil since new. Engine compartment looks new. The frame in front of rear wheels crack both sides. Watch that spot. Hate to junk this. Known bad engines and it's good
    Ran the oil filter it came with all these years, the book s call for a small one.
    AC PF 61 , then you run 6 quarts of oil.
    Probably your gone not sure u have the straight 5 or the 4.
    Just changed the belt, plugs, new GM 7 year battery, air filter. Wheels are good. Lots of good parts.
    Not good on here I watch messages, it's going for junk soon.
    Thanks, I need to take my Bew radio out, why iam looking at your video.

    So is the chime box the alarm system? I went to Best Buy and bought a JVC radio and the guy told me the harness would be another $100, bc he said from 02 & up Chevy wired the alarm system into the radio

      zenuke I'm sorry , I did not keep the factory radio. It was not working any more. CD's would get stuck, speakers would not work, and sometimes never got radio signal no matter how strong. I just chunked it.

      +purple haze I don't remember the actual part number to this kit, but I just picked one that was for the type of truck I had, which was GM or Chevrolet. It doesn't really matter, as long as you buy one for the radio you are installing. I got this one at Walmart. Hope that helps!

      Juan, It should be an orange wire...it might be labeled, or it might have the letters stamped on it that say "REMOTE" or "ACCESSORY". Otherwise it won't turn off automatically. I had the same problem with our Chevy Trailblazer. The wires were a little confusing. Good lukc, Juan!

      Yes excellent video. I am assisting my sister-in-laws husband with his install (simple head unit in a 2005 Canyon). We had an issue with no ACC power going to the aftermarket harness. Did some research and found out that we had to tap the black wire under the dash (factory harness 5th from right) to get the ACC signal. Just thought Id throw that in there in case others are having issues similar to ours. Again excellent vid and thanks for posting.
