Brother you and I are cut from the same cloth. I always over do everything as well as making it as perfect as I can taking my time taking the extra steps. I have a remodeling business, and I'm always going behind ppl that cut corners doing crappy work. Anything i do is shoot gonna work great look good from 5 inches away, and last if my name's on it. Good job explaining everything in detail. Thats what ppl want. Seen one video prior to yours with a guy installing a 10"duel sub didn't explain anything. After admitting he didn't know wth he was doing. He said plz like, and subscribe. His videos will improve in time. Your's was PERFECT👍👍
I just did a stereo on mine today and when you said "just match up the wires one for one and it's that easy" I thought to myself man he is in for a treat lol!!!
Also, another way around the switch with the radio is to use the short extra positive wire that is given with majority of harnesses. You do a 3 way tie in with the white w/red striped wires connected with a green connecter inside the steering column. Then you tie that extra wire into the positives from the oem harness and aftermarket stereo.
One the best videos I've seen on wiring. Been looking at tons of videos cause I'm doing the the same thing. Whole new system, and it's my 1st time doing it. Shops charge 300-500 for install so gonna try and do it myself
Jeez, that's a lot of money for an install! It's definitely worth doing yourself to save the $. It's not too tuff if you have a lil "can do" attitude. Hope everything went well.
I have those same kenwood speakers. I chose them for the low 30 RMS , because my headunit does 29x4. Glad to hear you like them., havent gotten around to installing mine yet. The sound of my stock tundra speakers suckkk. I just wish those kenwoods offered a component version so i wouldn't have to bypass my tweaters
When you tapped into the fuse box at 25 minutes in your video…. Where did you end up hooking that wire to so you had switch power. I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado and I’m trying to figure it out. You’re video is extremely helpful but I’m lost Bc you didn’t give any more information about where you hooked that power switch wire into. Thank you!
im doing the same thing to mine i just got.. not quite as big of a subwoofer tho im trying to get one that’s gonna fit under the rear seat lol, mines a 2011 still has decent sounding door speakers so im just doing a sub and the receiver
great job! i really enjoyed watching the video! you explained everything well for a beginner like me! next time get a tripod so we can see the actual installation!
if you want to make it easier, you could have tapped into the wiper blades fuse and used that, that's turned on with auxiliary from the in cabin fuse, some cars - like mine also have the cigarette lighter on the auxiliary input and that's usually just 3 inches away from where you want to use it... OR in your case 2 ft away from your amplifier, as the amps drawn from the remote wire is so miniscule it wouldn't blow the 20A fuse of the cigarette lighter. You're welcome.
I just installed a full system to my stock head unit. Now my blinkers are LOUD!! and there is a constant buzz. The power line is run away from speaker wire. I have no RCAs on the hed unit so used an LOC between it and the amp. Any ideas what else I should check?
Not saying this is the way to do it, but this is how I like it: Sub: Gain at about 7; X over at ~75Hz, Bass boost 1/2 way. Amp 1 (front speakers) Gain at 6, X over at 100hz. Amp 2 (rear speakers) Gain 4 X over at 50Hz. Additional tweaking in the equalizer part of the receiver.
I came here for the size constraints of the colorado and the canyon. I am so happy to see so much more. Over a year later. Happy to ping you
First time someone explained the wiring in a simple Nd understanding way nice vid
So glad it helped!

🗣Tahoe Steve The LEGEND🔊
thanks
Great video and the links are extremely helpful I have a similar truck
Glad to help, thanks for watching
why did you have 3 sets of rca cables? I'm new to this im just curious. Would one sec work just fine?
What color wire do I run remote wire to if could help would greatly appreciate it
Whats red wire name that you connect from the fuse fox my chevy have same problem doesn’t have accessory wire
Hey so technically I wouldn’t be able to change the the speaker sound from the aftermarket stereo right? Since we will be using the amp for it?
or will I be able to use the aftermarket radio to mess around with changing it since that’s why the RCA cable is for?
great job
Thanks so much!
you should have installed a compasator to protect your battery and all other systems from voltage shortage
Thanks for the tip. I will look into this.
you did a good job ,man. If you dont mind me asking, how did you set the gains?
Everyone should know how to set the gains by ear or by ear with a DMM/O scope
Not saying this is the way to do it, but this is how I like it: Sub: Gain at about 7; X over at ~75Hz, Bass boost 1/2 way. Amp 1 (front speakers) Gain at 6, X over at 100hz. Amp 2 (rear speakers) Gain 4 X over at 50Hz. Additional tweaking in the equalizer part of the receiver.
does this come with the actual sub or just the enclosure?
I know you asked a while ago, but the sub is in the enclosure. About $150.00
How did you switch out your shifter knob?
It just unscrews
nice vid but if you start having other electrical look into my previous post
anyone know if you can install a sub in a crew cab colorado?
Anything is possible
Tahoe Steve thank you my guy
How much did it all cost
I don't remember and prices may have changed. There are links for everything in the description.
Cuanto cuesta instalar un sonido así de completo a mi Chevy colorado
Hey i have a few questions about the wiring if you can send me a message through here please and thank you.
Please just ask here for the benefit of the community.
Just love the hates there giving you views ;)
Agreed. Thanks for commenting.
Is anyone going to address the 300 lbs elephant in the room? What about the tweeters!
uuuuuuuhhhhhh, my 6x9s and door speakers have tweeters.
