And this is where it all started. Jenni, you are a wonder! 12 years later, you’re still at it and have become such a pro! Thank you for sharing your journey with us and all the help you’ve given all of us just getting started! Keep up the great work, you and the whole team!
It is now August 2022 and I’ve decided to go way back to the very first videos on TH-cam! I’m not a new quilter (started in 1979 when absolutely everything was done with hand piecing, scissors, etc. the good old days!!!!😄😄😄😄. I really love MSQC so much and have been a faithful customer for several years (and will continue to do so I have the boxes right now to show how the last few months have gone!!! Sometimes an older video can be a good reminder if things we probably learned but have forgotten over the years. I,always take screen shots with my iPad so I can actually remember what I viewed😄😄😄. Thanks so much to Jenny and all her family for a wonderful company - and yes, I have read Jenny’s book 📕 and what an inspiration! Thank you everyone so much for being a terrific company with terrific people!,, ❤️
It’s Nov. 2021 and these videos are still great for beginners. And also a refresher for us “older in quilting” as a good refresher about some of the basics. Thanks!!!
Hahahahha. I keep my big spool thread in Prego jar....works great! Love your videos! I am sewing on a Singer that was given to me for a wedding present in 1986. Still going strong
Very nice demo. Short and sweet. I noticed that the middle square looked a bit 'short' like mine did when I made a few blocks. Had to 'adjust' that center piece by re-sewing the seam 1/8" less. It worked, and the lines lined up. Then I trimmed the block.
KCCatlover from one cat lover to another, the reason the middle Square looked short is that the Edge squares still have an extra quarter inch seam to attach it to the next block. once every block has been sewn they will all be two by two inches
I like the 45mm olfa cutter. If you are cutting heavy stuff, you might want to try out the bigger blade. Maybe a 60 mm. Good luck and i hope this helps!
Thanks for the help, maybe my next 9 patch will look better. i was told to cut up square by square so i did and its so much harder to make them match up............
I did that too Ninajeannette. Needless to say my quilting days were short lived. Once I started watching Missouri Star videos EVERYTHING changed. She is the rock star of quilting!
@abstractbybrian She is right! You should press not Iron. I try to be careful but sometimes I get in a hurry and iron. I haven't had any problem with stretching, but I still try to press not iron....just in case.
I have a question: Very good tutorial for sure. But about the pressing... I saw another video somewhere and it says NOT to move the iron around, just put it on and press down then up but not to move it. She said that if you move it you will stretch your square out of square and it won't match up when you go to put the whole thing together. What say you about this?
To help ensure a straight, even seam, use the guides on your machine as you go. They are the lines right beside the pressure foot which are at 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, etc. inch increments, and are long enough for you to use as a guide when sewing to make sure you don't sew a crooked seam. For the corners, I find that allowing enough of a seam allowance helps me to easily piece the corners together without them puckering or being misaligned.
Hi, how much fabric would be needed to create a lap size quilt? I'm a beginner and have always wanted to try my hand at quilting, but I have no idea where to begin! I' don't want to run out of fabric. Can I use Jelly Rolls? Thanks for your help:) I enjoyed the video!
OMG. Thread in a mason jar. I love it!

Lovely, I would have never have thought to put those colours together they work really well!!!!! Thank you so much Jenny.
Classic Jenny. Love it!
Would love to see a tutorial about putting the hourglass and nine-patch blocks together to make the beautiful quilt behind you!

How long are the strip sets and how wide are the strips used to make them????
so what is the best way to measure what do you recommend? the cutting mat it's not the best way to measure? I love this tutorial thanks
@abstractbybrian She is right! You should press not Iron. I try to be careful but sometimes I get in a hurry and iron. I haven't had any problem with stretching, but I still try to press not iron....just in case.
Hi, one jelly roll is 2 3/4 yards of fabric and it will make a lap size.
I have a question: Very good tutorial for sure. But about the pressing... Awsome. I think im ready
What is the finished size of the blocks? 7”?
What are the measurements for a nine patch square
How long do you measure the strips?
I am still new to quilting any tips on sewing a perfect 1/4 seam and piecing perfect corners
To help ensure a straight, even seam, use the guides on your machine as you go. I agree with the mat not being as precise as the rulers, also I noticed they are not the same?
Very nice tutorial

Can you please tell me the size to cut my strips?
How do I subscribe to this quilting channel?
Would be nice to have length and width of strips
Have you ever did a 16 patch block?

Yes, I am a make do girl!
@meyeresp Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. I'm a guy sewer too. This is indeed fun.
Yea my great grandmother is teaching me how to make a 9 square patchwork quilt I just got done cutting 270 squares-
please could we have measurements Thank you
@lovelyaley it does have a similar ring to it :)
Can you do a beginner very cheap quilt.
Look how long her hair is compared to now ☺️
ditto to hagtues comment!
I'm here because my grade 10 teacher has lost hope in my sewing abilities.
You didn't show how to cut the strips or how long they are.
You don't show how you put them together.
She used precut strips from what is called a jelly roll. They are 2 1/2 inches wide, not sure how long
