VHF Radio Cache XTS5000

Overview of a my VHF Radio Cache.
Included in the kit are Earpieces, Speaker Mics, 11 XTS500 Model I and 2 XTS 5000 Model II Radios. All of it is stored in four Ammo Cans from Harbor Freight. I also have a 6 bank charger for these radios that can be deployed if the event will last longer than a day.

It is, but I don't have that much money into them though. Purchased close to thirty of them as a parts lot for a little over a dollar a radio. I pieced these together, and resold the ones that didn't work. I purchased batteries and antennas from that profit. I would say I have put under $100 into this out of my personal money, and I believe I am over estimating.

Nice score. I don't believe you can use them for MURS as they are not type accepted for it.

I've been wanting to get some of these for general preparedness reasons....but I cannot seem to find much info on civilians owning these radios. I'm tired of consumer grade stuff, would love to get some dependable units. Have any good reading material for the newcomer of xts goodies?

I don’t have any reading material. A lot of what I have learned is from online forums and personal experience.

It can be found on the web. You may have to dig a little bit but it is there
