Thanks! I chose the XTS-2500 back in the day when I required a P25 capable radio. I sure wish I had gone with the 5000. I still have a Quantar sitting up at my repeater site, so maybe it’s time to try again. Nowadays, it’s just family, friends and mostly emergency comm capability. Most everyone is using DMR or analog in my group of people but encryption w/P25 is probably worth trying. Thank you very much for your videos.!
Any idea if one has a model 2 radio and they want to convert it to model 3, do we need to order a new keypad board to enable the DTMF feature or is it just a case replacement? There is nothing wrong with the JEDI connector used on these radios, it’s a time proven connector. It is far more durable than some of the other connectors that Motorola used in the past decade and a half. Still works great with my legacy HT1000.
Motorola recommends not to leave the radio on while charging. But from experience I can say that the only I'll effect is extended charging times. Otherwise it works just fine. If the radio is off, the. The charger will just keep the battery fully charged. Although it should be regularly fully discharged to help prolong the battery service life. at least once a month should be fine.
Thanks for these videos. I've recently become a Moto radio junky and this is very helpful.
Adam, this is very clear and helpful. Thank you so much!
The experience I had with the commander mics, is that it blast through battery life
