can this radio transmit to my uv5r and 888 baofeng??
Only on ham radio frequencies
@@kd9fal is that a yes or no? im asking because i wanna buy but people say u can not transmit or unlock it like the uv5r ,my uv5r does transmit on my 888s baofeng tho, will i be able to do the same on the uv17r
@@juniorramos1723 If you are transmitting on ham radio frequencies yes. If you are not no. If you don't know what frequency you are operating on you should probably find out.
@@kd9fal How can i find out what frequencies those are?? on my uv5r i use 462.125 and it transmit to my 888s baofeng will i be able to do the same if i imput that number on the uv17r ,sorry for asking alot of questions im new to this.
@@juniorramos1723 462.125 is not a ham radio/Part 97 frequency. That falls under the business band/Part 90. I will not work with that frequency.
I've got 4 of these radios and work in a very bad mountain laden cell phone service area and I'm having issues with range. I have almost no clue how these things work but would happily pay someone for their time helping me over the phone! Let me know if you would be interested!
It would be best to speak to a local radio shop on what you are currently using and how to improve. I can give you general information, but without know the area, it makes it harder to know how to improve your operations.
love the video man, if you are interested in selling this radio let me know I am in the market for one, thanks take care.
It is currently for sale. I am waiting on a response from one individual. Shoot me an email and I can let you know next week if it is still available.
So looks like either one will work for the APX, but will the apx Bluetooth rsm work on trbo radios?
@@henriquemiranda5748 Mission Critical, bluedot, will only work on an apx. Operations critical will work on both
Hi, im new to radios. I use a topcom for airsoft but i want to change to a baofeng. All my friends have topcom, how do i know if they are compatible and i can speak to them. Its hard to find info. Also there are too many types of baofeng radio's
@dennisv2416 I've never seen a topcom radio, so I can't provide much guidance. The biggest thing to watch for is to make sure the baofeng will transmit and receive on the frequency the other radios operate on. On a side note, make sure you are operating legally and have a license or are operating on a license free frequency.
@@kd9fal thanks for the reply the topcom ones only can operate on liscence free frequencies. Im looking at baofeng models so i can use then with peltor comtac. There are too many models and hard to find differences. Like the grms models or the gt models. I see people play with mostly uv-5r in airsoft i believe
Do you know if the xg100 can accept more then one mission plan in it ? The XG75 is the same radio just different RF board
@@troykenney176 I have an xg-100p that accepts multiple mission plans
@@kd9fal I use the 100p also. Just wasn't sure if the 100m does. I'll have to check it out when I get home.
Just bought a 7550 with battery, lapel mic and charger for 150! just need to program and figure that out
@@thegamingchanel100 you got a pretty good deal on it for $150 if it is in good condition
@@kd9fal he still has some more for sale actually, they all need batterys but they are 7550’s uhf Might try and buy the rest! Any suggestions?
@@thegamingchanel100 Make sure they don’t have a code plug password. Other than that not many other suggestions.
@@kd9fal Well the rest of them sold but getting mine on wensday so I’ll see what’s happens, Where is the best place to find the newest firmware to cps 16 luckily it hasent been upgraded to 2.0
@@thegamingchanel100 Motorola has the CPS 16.0 available. You have to sign up for a business account.
I have one of your radios. Same code plug.
Hy! Help me please!!! My radio xpr6550 what programing softwere? Sample xpr6550? Please download link!
You can get the CPS through Motorola. You will have to sign up for a business account and explain you are using for personal use. Once you have a business account, you must "purchase" the CPS.
I might have missed it, what is the difference in the 5-RM and the 5-RM Plus?
I have the 5RM Plus and mine does not have 220mhz transmitt. Looking at what is labeled as 5RM on amazon, it has 220mhz. Other than that I don't know what the differences are, as I don't have a 5RM.
@@kd9fal thanks.
you hex edit for wide band
I do not. I run my equipment in narrow band if it doesn't have wideband. I don't notice much of a difference.
With the TD-H3 and TD-H8 the same radio can be used either as Amateur Radio (HAM) or GMRS. The difference is in how it is booted, you can boot into GMRS, HAM, or Normal mode. Be aware, when you switch modes, it does a factory reset thus you lose all your settings. Thus, it is very important to use a backup programing software such as RT Systems which is outstanding, Chirp also very good, or Tidradio's own programing software. It does not matter at all whether one purchased the TD-H3 or TD-H8 in either GMRS or HAM version, just boot into the version you want. My purchase was their two pack of the TD-H3 (two radios with four batteries), one remains booted to GMRS the other to HAM. Be mindful, unless you have an FCC Amateur license (HAM) such as the Technician license, General license, or Extra license, do not transmit in HAM mode. Also, for GMRS you must obtain a FCC FRN, pay $35 then within two days you will have your GMRS license emailed to you by the FCC; does not require any test. This license covers your family for ten full years. Hope this helps.
Good little radio
You can tx on 200/300/and 500 by going to menu 52 and turn on 200tx menu 53 turn on 300tx and menu 54 turn on 500tx and that should fix the problem of not being able to tx. Factory default has it turned off you just have to turn them on
Thanks for sharing this. I was able to enable the 220mhz band. I havent done any testing on it to know what power it puts out, or if it puts out any spurious emissions
Hi Im try to unlock uv-5rm plus to talk with PVR frequency 462.712 but is locket in this :( I try combinations but dont work :(
@@obelich The UV-5RM is locked down to Amateur Radio Frequencies
I have two of these I’d love to set up for DMR. Cool to see them working!
I bought 2, one had 2 batteries, they both had 3 antennas in the box. I ran the firmware upgrade on one of them, put my repeaters in via Chirp. Then used the clone feature to copy the first one to the second one. Cool radios.
PLEASE TUTORIAL ELECTRICAL WIRING FOR HOME
@herykaltara3838 I am not an electrician and a video like that would not align with the rest of the channel. I will not be completing this request.
HOW TO ELECTRICAL WIRING FOR HOME ?
Just got mine and the Airband is working well. Can you suggest a better antenna for Airband?
I have 2 of the H3's and 3-H8's here on the farm.
You're not helping to talk me out of buying one of these! 73 de AK4FM
The only radio that I have that out performs the XG-100P is my APX7000 but you can't beat the price point of an XG-100P compared to a multiband APX. I have a XG-75M that performs just as well as the XG-100P
Did you get the Ham kit with the two extra antennas? If so they're under the white plastic tray in the box... a 771 antenna and an Airband antenna. Great little radio with so many great features!
The radio I received did not have the extra antennas
@@kd9fal There's a lot of different "kits" offered on line (Amazon). The H3 Ham kit I ordered came with 3 antennas (Standard, 771, and airband) and two batteries... plus all the cables, charger and base, strap and clip. All for $37!
I just bought a uv-17r and found a Plus variant with a longer antenna, 50% bigger battery, am frequencies, usb-c and the data cable for the same price. So I might exchange it, but also might just return it since I thought I was going to be able to listen to the police near me
Murs had this mdc1200

Can you program the APX to disable the PTT on the radio with the bluetooth RSM connected? Unfortunately can't be done on the R7. That can be a bit fun with the radio in a backpack or something.
Nice radio, where do you buy the bands on the antenna from?
@flightstatic4662 I purchase them from Wiscomm. They are great to work with a d seem to have some of the lowest prices.
@@kd9fal Thanks, i'll look them up!
Wow… THANK YOU!! With over 30 years in the public safety and radio world, I never encountered or thought to identify radios by band. This is a phenomenal concept for “cache” radio inventory. You can quickly identify the band by color - so simple yet brilliant. For most of my labeling, have been using my Rhino 6000 label printer to create high strength adhesive labels with basic info: Make / Model / Firmware Ver. / Band(s) / Type (analog / p25 phase-1 or 2 / DMR / combinations) / Radio ID / Emergency ID / Pri Talkgroup(s) / Group ID / Date placed in service / Date last programmed / CPS Ver last used to program / Battery Capacity / Battery date / Admin Unit y/n? (DMR feature control) / Contact Details / Etc.. It seems like overkill at times, so thinking of going with an “inventory ID” with all details in a db and laminated hardcopy in each case. Using the color coding method for band might be made more functional with the ID printed on the color coded label or tag..? What are YOU using to label your antennas? Heat shrink tubing? (but.. possible heat damage to antenna?) Tape? (would likely look messy and get all “gooey” with time and heat) Thanks Sir. Nice channel & videos!
@@PowderMill they are Motorola Antenna ID bands. As far as a database, I use snipeit. It is an asset management database for IT equipment, but I have made it work for my radio equipment. I can assign radios to a location, user, kit, etc. Makes it easy to keep track of maintenance, do audits, etc.
The /\/\ XPR-7550e is a nice radio, especially compared to most Chinesium DMR radios (OTHER than Hytera) But ONLY if the radio is being issuing to users and isn’t for personal use or use for techs or interop work. The radio is fairly rugged, it has decent batteries and accessories, etc… The only real dilemma?? It has *ZERO* FPP capabilities. The only “solutions” to this limitation are: A: Flashing to AA Asian model which supposedly supports FPP functionality (but I d never seen one “in the wild”) B: The other option = The real crappy & extremely limited option board product from a company located in Georgia. It is ultra limited and quite pricey$$. It permits you to use VFO type programming of a single channel, allows you to modify: tx-freq / rx-freq / CC / slot / (and possibly CTCSS /DCS for analog use).
How can I parrot with my beats for Bluetooth?
Pair it like you would pair your headset to anything else. Put headphones in pairing mode, then go to bluetooth setting, search, and pair. Not all bluetooth devices are compatible with the xg and there isn't a list of supported devices, so its trial and error.
What voice are you using?
@southern_gaming I have a mix of the original motorola ones and ones i created from North Carolinas tts program
You’re lucky
Can it be jailbroken by holding down the ptt button, the button underneath the ptt and the orange button - all at the same time, then when holding them all in, switch the radio on. This usually opens up the radio to factory specs before it was programmed.
Negative, Just gave it a try
Not working on uv-5rm plus 10W :(

It keeps shutting off in my pocket??
Make sure you have a good battery and nothing is touching the power button.
Was this done on p25 conventional or analog

Great Video Russell...you are a tremendous asset to ham radio not only now but also for many years in the future. 73 Cliff KCØSDV. Pleasure to personally know you.
Where’d you get the program software and what version are you running?
I've red everyone is getting it from the Harris website. I would imagine it's not cheap. I'm trying to figure this out before I buy a radio
I received the software from the seller I bought the radio from. It still is sold online, but if you are wanting to do NAS there is a hacked version out there
@@kd9falSo far, I've found nothing in regards to programming.
Does the Kenwood have the quick chirp like Motorola? I believe called DOS mute
It has MDC1200. DOS Mute keeps MDC from being heard on a receiving radio.
Everyone everyone please hit the👍👍for radios with Russell
What is the battery model/name or where can I buy it?
I'm not sure of the exact part number, but you can do a search on ebay or Amazon and they are readily available.
Nice score. I don't believe you can use them for MURS as they are not type accepted for it.
😂😂😂😂 I made an even better one out of a simple repeater controller called surecom Sr 629 with the appropriate cables and it worked just fine no extra Hardware don't have to have all that bulky stuff
Not sure what's so funny. There are two radios, power supply, power distribution all mounted on a piece of plywood. Everything is in a case for easy transportation, or can be pulled out to sit on a desk. I wouldn't consider it bulky. Everything needed to make it operational is in one box. I don't need to grab multiple boxes, or try to take equipment that is in the shack or in use somewhere else. What are you running for radios with your SR-629? How is it packaged up? What's you power output on each radio?
beep boop
How do I get the programming software?
i have noticed when i run my singlestick on my manpack that it works 10x better with a 19 inch wire mounted to the radio ground. just something to watch out for
Thanks for the heads up. I will keep an eye on it. Do you know a difference in SWR or just performance? The singlesticks are meant for more localized operations/interop. I have the duplexer in there to connect to a Dual band base for wide area communications.
Swr didn't change much but my signaled reports were significantly better on less power
My understanding is that SWR is a proportional factor but not cumulative radiation efficiency. It's more to keep your tuner/radio happy.
But yeah, a counterpoise wire, "rat tail" can definitely be beneficial sometimes. Cheers.
Did you program your APX 7000?
Yes I did
Do you mind sharing with me your code plug? I’m new to programming APX 7000/8000 radios. I have CPS but I can’t get into CPS with out a code plug. I just want to learn about programming before I get my apx radio. Do you think you can help me?
@@DronePilot487 Send me an email and I will get you a copy of a code plug. It won't be my code plug, but at least it is a code plug you can dabble in.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I sent you an email. I can’t wait to get inside the system to see what it entails…. you made my day, sir.
I got an XTS 5000 model 3 I would love to be able to find somebody to wipe it clean to factory and make it where I can only listen to my local sheriff department and the weather the band I have found people on eBay. They say they will do it, then they back out of the deal. I have windows ten and I cannot find the software
Your best bet to monitor your local sherrifs office is to by a scanner. If you don’t know your way around the xts5000 or which ever radio you may use don’t try to use it as a scanner. You just keep mentioning XTS5000 Model 3. Do you know if the radio is the correct band for your local sherif. Do you know what type of system the sherif department is using? If your sheriff’s office is on a trunked system, putting a radio on that system to monitor is frowned upon and illegal. There may be a reason that they won’t program it for you. The software is available online. It just requires some searching to find, meaning it’s not gonna be the first link in google.
0:41 FRS DMR sounds interesting. Hopefully Midland or someone else makes an FRS/GMRS DMR radio. Motorola is too expensive for me. 😳
I have it in there as a just because. And use it for testing purposes. I really like the Motorbo line from Motorola
