    With all the waterproofing around the pocket, you should put a flap to cover it or else water might pool up in it. Maybe put a small drain hole on the bottom?
    Very cool project!!😎

    Using a Leatherman to make a leather jacket. You need the Leatherman Raptor shears to add to your sewing kit. Your new shop has so many unique work areas that Santa’s elves will be applying for jobs.

    While back and shoulders are importan I would have also added at least some elbow protection. I've never driven a motorcycle but I used to scoot around a lot with all kind of mobile vehicles and if it is one thing I've learned is that you will always somehow fall on your elbow's. Maybe even some wrist protection since you'll never know how or what you might hit with your arm and from what angle. But I have to admit, thats a pretty nice jacket!. Good job Laura.

    Also: sewing machines are 3D printers, IMO. My mom taught me how to sew. I repair all my clothes now. -Eric.

    • @laprepper
      @laprepper 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not sure about a 3D printer but in a way they are additive manufacturing machines sort of, a human being feeds one or more pieces of cloth into the machine and combined with thread that is provided by the human but used by the machine outcomes some product that is a combination of cloth and thread and stitches and perhaps a few other products that is able to serve some useful purpose that it wasn't able to individually as parts

      @GardenFork - I have a friend that is self taught on the sewing machine. She's freaking amazing. She's in the process of getting ready to start her own channel for upcycling fabrics of all types and sizes into amazing things. People are coming out of the woodwork to give her things because they know she's working on stuff and they don't want to throw it in the trash or wasted so they're just giving it to her for stockpile. It's just getting insane, but she is amazing and she'll figure out what to do with it all.
      I agree the sewing machine is a powerful tool. I can't say that I wish I knew how cuz I've got my own ball-o-wax to deal with but they are very, very, clever tools.

      Yes, safety first, and I wonder if that jacket would hold up in a slide. In May I was hit by a driver and my gear saved my life. I would leave protection to the professionals because they have been doing it for a long time. I would also pay whatever it costs for quality gear now that I see what it can actually do to protect your head and body.

      @@autumngreenleaf3390 so true! ATGATT for me as well, especially after being ran off the road by a car. This jacket won't stand any sort of fall though. The protective elements will just be ripped out when the outer shell gets shredded. Looks cool though!

    Great video! You're enjoying life and this is contagious!
    A couple of tips from a experienced maker:
    If you set the ball-head pins at 90º from the sewing line, you don't need to take them off to sew through. Try it.
    A really important thing to get straight sew lines is the gesture, the position of the hands. They have to move together (as they were jointed by a invisible bar) stretching the clothes, setting both pinky fingers at the front and both thums under the cloth, leaving let's say a foot between hands. You'll get better control. Have a look at the pros.
    Regards from Majorca!

    Beautifully done. Each piece of protective gear can make a difference in a crash. I thought I alter a lot of things, but you put me to shame! Anyway, great job putting in the protective gear. There is always something better out there; I can't afford KLIM, so I alter my stuff and rewaterproof it. And after you crash, repair the gear. I will upgrade some of my crash protection from what I've learned here.
