    Beautiful job! Not sure I’d have the patience to do it completely by hand.

    Thank you so much! I’ve been looking for someone who have made a handmade leather jacket because I want to try and alter one of my own but I had no idea how to properly handle it. This is great.

    I am also making a jacket by hand. I am having difficulty with sewing the sleeve as you do at 4:00. I can not find the hole with my inside needle. If you, or anyone else have tips to make this go more fluently, please let me know. I have found this video very inspiring and helpfull. I thank you very much for taking the time to film the process and upload it to youtube :)

      Push stitching needle in from out side and then push needle in from inside next to needle already in from outside and pull both through holes at same time. Make sure you stitching needles aren’t too large for holes.

      Thank you very much! Your comment has brightened up my day! I have picked another career path during the pandemic. I still do tiny leather projects sometimes but I am not a full-time leather artisan anymore. Hence I do not have spare time to make videos. Thanks for checking up on me!

    I'm making a jacket like the brownish red one Jamie Lannister wears in Game of Thrones. I'm making it with synthetic leather though, never worked with shnth before. I don't plan on spending $400 on my first leather jacket project that might not come out great

  • @thebardock6785
    @thebardock6785 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why not use scissors to cut the leather instead of that spatula thing also just curious how much time and money went into this?

    • @fadingmistleather
      @fadingmistleather  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scissors can actually be used, which is very up to the artisan. I use a leather knife because it is easier to cut long shapes. It took me about 2 weeks to test out the pattern on a cheaper material (which is not filmed) and another week to actually make it. I think I have used more than a thousand Hong Kong dollars on the materials.

    Hi, i know this is a 2 years old video, but i need to know his, what where you using to trace the pattern lines on the leather?, is it a silver gel ink ball pen or something like that?

    • @fadingmistleather
      @fadingmistleather  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a silvermark pen. And it can be erased by a cleaning pen. You can probably find them both on Etsy.

      It's an adjustable edge creaser, which is used to draw a parallel line for punching holes and sewing.

    As a motorcyclist and just a leather jacket for dressware afficianado, I do not understand the bizarre reason the back of leather jackets is always made too short. The moment you bend over for any reason your entire kidney region is exposed to cold, weather, or just look stupid.
    Please....someone in the cosmos....make a a leather jacket pattern that is even a few inches lower in the back.

    How are you, my friend? If you know how to formulate patterns, we have a service that consists of simple models for which you formulate your own style and film them via video for 10 euros for each model.
