    Yeah, if you want to hear both sisters sing, you have to do “Dog and Butterfly”, it’s a ballad, the softer side of Heart, but oh my, it’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard!

    The lead guitarist is Roger Fisher, whose brother Mike is the "Magic Man" that Ann is singing about. Dreamboat Annie is one of the best debut albums ever. My next pick for a reaction is also from that album: "How Deep It Goes."

      @@Chrisrob90406 Agreed. I think the later Heart was just as good, but different. For sure, the guitar riffs in the early stuff were amazing and hit like a hammer, where in the later music, the sound was more mellow, but Ann's voice got so much fuller. All of it was great.

    This song is the perfect example of "The Heart Sound". Amazing vocals, "teasing" guitar solo rifts, "music drops" at random, shift in focus of lyrics to notes, out of the world "angelic" harmonies, and an underlying 'drum line' to hold it all together.
    PS: When Ann and Nancy harmonize in the later half of the song? That is what the mythical "Sirens" must have sounded like to lure sailors to their doom.

    Thats Roger Fisher shredding that guitar. One of the greatest and one of the least appreciated guitarist of the seventies. If we're gonna be completely honest, he taught Nancy how to shred on the guitar before he was no longer in the band. Roger was a co-founder of the band before the Wilson sisters were even in the picture. Ann came first. When Nancy was later brought into the band, she was basically just a young folk singer who played acoustic guitar. She learned a lot from Roger in those years he was still in the band. He created a lot of the cool guitar riffs of Heart's early songs. The classic "Barracuda" riff was his. He was the main lead guitar in the band. Howard Lease who was also a top player in the band often doubled on lead guitar with Roger.

If you were not familiar with the music and just came in the in the background or in the middle of the song you wouldn’t understand the greatness of the song. But when you hear from beginning to end especially with headphones on, every note works together to take you on a trip.

When I got there the opening band just started playing and they Blew me away they were so good. It was Heart as the opening act with April Wine as the main act. 3 years later when they came back to Edmonton Heart was the main act with April Wine opening for them! I've been a fan of theirs ever since then.

    Great exhibition of talent from every member of HEART on this song. From the melody to the soloing, it's probably their bestest overall effort. SING CHILD SING is similar in that everybody takes solos (especially the drummer) but it's a completely silly-ass tune and weird on purpose.

  • @MARSHOMEWORLD
    @MARSHOMEWORLD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Nancy iis playing the acoustic guitar throughout this tune you can hear the big strums that kind of Shimmer on their way into the chorus. At this point they had to leave gataris in the band as well, so that is where the heavier stuff is coming from in the solos. I believe one of the guitarist doubled on keyboards as needed. You guys had a really great reaction to the band Jethro Tull quite a while ago, you might be interested to know that tall was a huge influence on early heart. There are many interesting kind of Celtic in acoustic fairytale feeling songs on this particular record as well. Kind of the deep Cuts as it were. Good stuff.

There was so much good music back then that it was sometimes hard to choose faves. 45+ years later I sure appreciate what amazing talent the Wilson sisters had and still have. Number one female rockers IMO. More Heart reactions please 🧡
