Great. Especially if you are unexperienced with weathering.
Excellent video, I'm going to try it using the exact formulae and technique you teach. Got a Trumpeter ME 262 I've been having problems with standard Tamiya pin wash stuff...it just comes right out of the rivets.
Excellent presentation.
Thank You for this Sir.
As a Model builder here in South Africa i struggling to find Oil wash and dirt wash.
I will make this later.
This also looks really cheap and can be used much longer than regular washes and effect seems really nice
Take a trowel outside and plunge it into the ground; run the dirt through a sifter: you're in Africa - you have the real thing under your feet.
Oils two parts burnt humber one part midnight black, thinner adjust to suite ,the pastels are great for any pigment use
Be happy if you live in Glasgow because the tap water is as pure as you'll get no need to buy de-ionised stuff.

before whashing how do you put the varnis (several layers, type of varnis, any thinning ? )
Hello from across the pond, hey Bobby 2 questions please, first thing, can this technique be used on painted foam rc aircraft, and second, why do you use a gloss coat first as opposed to a matte clear coat? Thanks very much, I really enjoy watching and learning from your videos.
not done a foam rc before but you could test it on a scrape bit first, and a gloss coat helps in the clean up part, if it was matte it would not clean up as nice so it would look really dirty
@@genessismodels O.K. Thanks Bobby, that makes sense.
Use a small cup and a mini mixer unstead.Much better
Very nice explain..... a question about oil washing....how long is need it to dry? And then clean? Thank you.
about 30 min should do it mate
Could you tell me whats meant by "washin up" liquid? thanks, very helpful.
dish soap
Fairy liquid maybe I can't believe you don't know what washing up liquid
👍🏻
Hi and thanks for this.. Do you seal in the pastel wash?
defo mate
Niceeee
Does this approach work when applying on gloss acrylic paint (without additional gloss coat)?
that could work but best testing a little first
@@genessismodels Thanks I'll give it test. Great channel!
Does the varnish always have to be gloss, or can you use matt?
Matt varnish would make it harder to remove the wash on the surface
@@genessismodels great thanks. So if its a gloss varnish, would the wash make it not glossy? I'm working on a camouflage hawk scheme and they aren't glossy so I'm just trying to see which way is best.
Thanks for the response
Hoy this tecnhic works over flat coat?
It depends on what effect would you like to achieve. The more flat the surface is, the more dirty the filter will look like. Applying this wash over a dead flat surface will give you a really dirty grimey result
This technic works with matte paints?
I’d like to know the same thing, did you ever find out?
As I understand, it’s better to apply a gloss coat first. I’m minimally experienced in “weathering” but my observation with a gloss coat is it seems to allow your weathering to cover in a more realistic and interesting manner. Once you’re satisfied with your detailing, applying a flat coat seals everything in. Applying a gloss coat also affords better decal application.
With wat do you remove the wash?
With a damp paper towel for the broad areas...use a cotton swab for the tighter spots. Works a treat.
What Is the liquid Green?
Dish soap
Moisture on the towel and bud, aka spit. 😄
Excellent presentation.
Glad you liked it!
