    I need to know how much tubed oils should be used to use in the wash. And what you mixed with the oils

    Brilliant vid, it's the only thing i get stuck on, but now i feel confident doing weathering, 1 question please, i only have normal turpentine, will this be ok to use still.

      normal turpentine from dyi stores tend to be to strong for scale modeling mate always best to stick with scale modeling thinners

      Artists oilpaints heavily diluted with lighter fluid works great too.

    Please Correct me if I’m wrong but can’t you use tamyia panel line accent for that process

    A Mustangs wing is not the best example for point out panel lines, because Mustangs had puttied and painted wings due to the laminar wing section. For this reason there are almost no panel lines visible. 😉

    Good job and thanks! Ugh…my situation is the “opposite”. I’m currently making an older Stuka kit in 1/48 with RAISED panel lines and want to accentuate them some. In a little leary of post shading them as I fear the effect I’m looking for will be overdone. The model has been clear coated and I’m wondering how this would work on it. I guess there’s one was to find out!

    Surely something as important as sealing it with gloss beforehand should be at the beginning??

    Love the raw metal finish - what paint did you use for that??

    Why would mud be in panels of a P51?

      Joints between panels will always collect dust. I think his country of origin might affect the terms he uses. Personally as I have worked on vehicles, I would describe some of the dirt collected as mud.

    Would white spirit work?

    Bob .how many coats of clear .I use acrylic paint vallajo paint and gloss . The problem I have had in the past doing any wash .once I start to clean off the wash .it's stuck like glue as though I have repainted .and during the clean up my paint starts to come away reviling the bare plastics or undercoat ...it's so much hard work and the damage that's left .I feel is it worth killing a good paint job just to make it look used ...I have in the past put 3 heavy coats of varnish to the point it's dripping off ..and still the same problem as before .I end up repainting .

      Exactly what happened to me, I hope you found a solution! I used to use promodellers wash from flory models but they don’t seem to have those weathering washes anymore… I didn’t even need to use clear coat and washed off perfect with water! I tried tamiya panel line accent color and MiG Vallejo washes… both ruin the paint and the clear coat.

      Was the gloss coat that you used acrylicor enamel based?

    Why do you “clean” with odorless turpentine instead of the thinner? Does it give a certain effect?

    • @genessismodels
      @genessismodels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      to be honest they work the same.

    What do you use to seal the paint before you put on the pin wash?

      @@genessismodels I can only get Testors gloss lacquer here. Can I still use an oil wash and thinner or do I need acrylic wash and acrylic thinner?

    • @05levman
      @05levman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boblum3360 You can buy Tamyia acrylic paints, clear coats, and thinner thru the many online hobby shops via amazon. Avoid using Testers thinner as a wash cleaner if you have a Testers gloss coat finish. Think about it if your clear coat/dull coat is thinned with it you can't use it as a wash or it can break down and possibly ruin your finish. However, you can use testers thinner on a fully dried acrylic paint to clean up over spray etc...

    Oils and enamels are more flexible and versatile in washing and detailing. In my opinion.
