I love how you've created this mythos surrounding the Beasties that they are these ass kickin' extraterrestrial kung fu masters! LOL

lyrically speaking, he's not wrong. The beasties set the bars, then twisted them into pretzels. They are like the hip-hop version of the Beatles, they endlessly reinvented themselves with out ever compromising their identity or style. The helped define hip-hop, they blazed the trails that all young mc's and rappers travel today. They helped bring hip-hop to the world and the suburbs. They are a big part of why Hip-hop is the most popular form of music on Earth now.

Anyone can be a rapper. An MC is a rapper that has actual clear content about something important.Master of ceremonies. Which implies they do more than just rap as well. Production, crowd involvement, etc. So an MC is a rapper, but a rapper may not be an MC.
There are no mumble emcees. Only mumble rappers.

Mix Master Mike did the whole beat live by scratching a few seconds of that one record. Nothing programmed or pre-recorded, no laptop, no drum machine, no sampler, just the scratching. There's another version with the camera on him the whole time, and another old clip where he explains the routine that became this song.

This was mix master Mike, he was the 4th beastie for a while, guys a killer on the turntable.

On the album track, it ends like this: "Mixmaster Mike, what'cha got to say?" And Mixmaster cuts in a sample that goes: "Goddamn, that DJ made my day!" And "day" echoes and fades out. It's so cool.
You’re absolutely right their is a difference from rapper and mc’s. Rappers rap over beats, mc’s get you on your feet. As Rakim said it best “to me, MC means move the crowd” The Beastie Boys plus Mixmaster Mike on the ones and twos(turntables) equals brilliance🤘🏼
MC is a master of ceremonies, they direct the gig interface with the crowd. A rapper is someone who raps. The terms are vastly interchangeable in this genre.
As an example i would say in the group Public Enemy Chuck D is the rapper, Flavor Flav is the MC

The distinction that I found is that a rapper is rapping for themselves. They are the star of the show. MC's rap, but its to showcase the talents of the DJ, and they get to benefit by showing some of their talent in the process.
I saw them in concert once. I didn't know all the songs and didn't even care. These 3 jumped around the stage and spit hot fire nonstop. Fantastic. One of them has passed on now, but their chemistry as a trio was everything.

Also, may be too long to react to, but I'd suggest you check out the documentary "Awesome, I F*ckin Shot That". Beastie Boys gave hand held cameras to a certain number of fans, asked them to record their concert, and edited all the material to make an amazing short film.
He can do that on his other channel, It's Mr. Video!

There was crazy and fresh music occurring in the late 70s and 80s in DC and NYC. Beasties were in the middle of Hip Hop and Punk/Hardcore and blended it together perfectly. And of course they used the letters BB to name themselves in honor of the pioneers of Hardcore that inspired every band in NYC, DC and beyond, Bad Brains.
