Beastie Boys were a huge inspiration for Eminem, he said in an interview that when he saw them for the first time he was like "Oh, wait, so white people can do rap too and be good at it" and it gave him confidence to keep rhyming. Also check out his song Berzerk, both the song and the video are basically a love letter to the Beastie Boys, even produced by their producer, Rick Rubin. The Kamikaze album cover is also pretty much a copy of their License to Ill album cover.

Beastie Boys formed in 1981, consisted of rappers Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums), Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitars), and Kate Schellenbach (drums). They started as an experimental hardcore punk band called The Young Aborigines. However, they later transitioned to a unique blend of genres, incorporating elements of hip hop, punk, funk, electro, jazz, and Latin music into their sound. Their music evolved over time, and by the release of their debut studio album, Licensed to Ill, they had largely abandoned punk in favor of hip hop and rap rock. Throughout their career, the Beastie Boys continued to experiment with various styles, leaving a lasting impact on music and culture.

As a 45 years old french white "lady" (???) who listened to the beasties at the time of the release of their album, i am so happy to see these kind of videos. It was called white hip hop at the time… this is just brilliant music!!!!

They sampled Led Zepplin and hard rock bands not soul or jazz like hip hop did. So original.

Beastie Boys are from Brooklyn and have been around since 1981. Ad-Rock from BB helped an unknown 15 year-old kid named LL Cool J get his big break after hearing his demo tape in Rick Rubin’s dorm room at NYU. Rubin, along with fellow NYU student, Russell Simmons, founded Def Jam Recordings a few years later and signed both acts. They then toured together with Run-DMC and Whodini.

Beastie Boys are full of good times and surprises. "Pass The Mic" is more of this same energy, but even heavier. "Gratitude" is a great Funkadelic style track with them playing their instruments. "Shake Your Rump" is a fun goofy vid with more old school rhymes. "Intergalactic" is old school hip hop meets old school Japanese mecha/monster movie. There are many different sides to this group.

I've literally seen thousands of shows in my 53 years and other than Jane's Addiction and the Neville Brothers, the Beastie Boys were the best band I ever saw

I've been to a ton of concerts, too. My personal favorite show was Alice Cooper, by far. His catalog, to me personally, leaves a little to be desired, but his show and stage presence are phenomenal. My Brother's personal favorite was The Offspring at Pepsi Jammin On Main until he saw Brit Floyd when I bought him tickets for his birthday. He's always loved Pink Floyd, but in their absence Brit Floyd is so much more than a cover band. I realize it's sacrilege, but I will say Brit took some of those Floyd songs and made them better. If you ever get a chance to see either of those, I highly recommend giving yourself that gift of experiencing them. Some other notables were Jethro Tull, The Allman Brothers, Hot Tuna (2 members of Jefferson Airplane), and Seether.

Welcome to the Beastie Boys world!! PLENTY of awesome music to be discovered. Too many favorites to mention... Please explore more from them. You won't be disappointed. They're my favorite rap group. They started as a joke and became GODS and respected rappers AND musicians.

Bro, Beastie Boys held their own in the 80s and in their defense - stayed true to their origin and influences.
No disrespect to Marshall, but it's not a comparison. Beasties were there fighting and having fun rapping and making music long before even Dre Chronic and Snoop Doggy Style.
Beastie Boys are one of those bands that will always be . I'm pretty sure Marshall already appreciates the Beastie Boys. This whole thing seems weird cuz they always continued to be relevant during the riots . And MCA is awesome! Miss him
