Have just discovered you. Beauuuutiful voice. Warm, rich, effortless singing. Peter, you are not just a very fine singer, you are a true artist. Not only your interpretation but also the way your clones fade away little by little in the end AND the expression in your (their?!) eyes makes one somehow feel the kind of love-hate bond sailors may have had with their ships... Truly wonderful work. Chapeau!
I am a new fan of Peter and The Bass gang. All 4 of them are magnificent , all of them in their unique way. Can't stop to listening and watching their videos 😊
Love the slower pace, the slight difference in lyrics and pitch from what I've heard before. As someone else said, I can sing along with your bassline and that's fantastic too. Gonna have to listen to the rest of your stuff now ya dang jerk..
Now THAT was a beautiful arrangement. There’s nothing quite like really close harmonies and an interesting, flowing bass line on sea chanteys. I used to sing that one with my harp at ren faires. Thanks for bringing back some lovely memories.
Pure English, clean and beautiful male voices that do not interfere with musical instruments. Beauty. And singing with a good person in chorus is also a good idea. :)
Wow!! What a voice. My Daddy served 27 years in the US NAVY and loves this song. I must forward it to him. I’m sure he will fall in love with it as I have. Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice with us.
Okay, I’m sold. I would have loved the chance to have sung with you. As an opera tenor, I was always on the lookout for a voice like yours to harmonize with. I was born too soon, but I will enjoy hearing more from you. I wish you all the success your talent deserves.
W. O. W. I’m sending this to my husband… he’s a tenor and sang for many years with the Oregon Reparatory Singers; I’m sure that he’s going to enjoy this too. You are a great talent!
It reminds me of Assassin's Creed: Rogue and how I'd flee into the game just to sail the seas with this shanty playing when the blues hit. Thanks for the cover 🥲💙
This is a beautiful arrangement -- masterfully performed. I will prepare an old-fashioned this evening and play this repeatedly,. I love sea shanties. Especially when sung like this. Thank you, Peter!
This was awesome man! Amazing harmony, very subtle yet ambient Eb1s at 2:55 (don’t know if that was the right way to describe it lol) And also it’s great that you’ve stepped up your production and gone and got a green screen! Also will Johnny just leave her? Like come on
Such eye candy that sings so nicely! Enjoy you reactions and now I found you singing! Would love to hear you and Avi sing together! I’m so glad you appreciate Avi like he deserves! ❤
It's finally nice to see someone singing songs other than The Wellerman. If I may make some requests, Shiloh, Northumbria, Barrets Privateers, Pique La Beliene; all would be beautifully accompanied by your voice!
@@PeterBarber I've been singing chantys for roughly 6 years now. If you'd like other suggestions, or even just historical background on them I'd be more than happy to oblige!
And.....goosebumps....your voice is just so smooth and soothing. I love this one too. I've jumped down the rabbit hole and will be stalking every video today lol
Ubisoft needs to hire Peter for whatever Assassin's Creed game they make next. His vocals are worthy of a song that has an opera section surrounded by whatever else they want.
i think the "her" is the ship, not a person. love the resonance of the voices together. I became a regular viewer only about 2 weeks ago. Mostly for your Dimash critiques. This is a nice contrast (!) to your other offerings. this is feb 14 2122 as watch this,
And with every new video he surprise me harder. I showed your chanel to all my friends xD They all love your voice. Very much love for you, talented man ❤
Everyone be listening to the awesome singing...I’m still amazed by the fact he combed his hair to the left when he recorded himself on the right and on the left combed it right,-ahhhh symmetry.thanks Peter!! Edited:*realises he just uses a mirror affect🤦🏻
hahahaha I actually had two different clips of that recorded, but one of them got deleted before I started editing somehow... so I just used the mirror effect 😅
been practicing to lwoer my vocal range for months now, i i think i started in june 2024, its now october 10 2024, and now on a good day, i can get D2, but my normal voice is D#2 (Eb2), idk if thats a deep for a fourteen year old, but, i can finally sing this !! whenever i listen to this song, i cant help myself but sing along !
first time hearing you. Love it. great harmonies with those other guys :) I'm subscribing because I want to hear more of this kind of thing in my life.
I sang it in a tenor key, but you would absolutely crush Aaron Copland’s the Boatmen Song. It’s so whimsical and feel good like this, and with your range and arranging skills I think there would be so much cool stuff within the texture you could play with. I was reluctantly classically trained as a tenor but told by all of the other professors/professional singers I worked with that I would be a Verdi Baritone, but my teacher insisted upon training me as a tenor and making me suffer through the Dalla Sua Pace’s of the world when everyone else was saying why don’t you sing Non Piu Andrai, and hearing your low stuff has really made me want to get back into classical lessons and embrace my lower register that I neglected for so long. I mean what tenor can hit a D2 everyday? I’ve always felt so out of place and I could go on and on, but your music inspires me and makes me want to reevaluate my perception of my range.
@@PeterBarber yes...in my college hour there was a high soprano who created overtones every time she was singing...there was a high octave over her voice whenever she was singing and I thought she was singing that high until I listened carefully

I've had zero issues -- it's possible that you can get a "copyright strike" where your content is removed, and if you do it too many times, you get suspended. BUT I've never seen that happen from covers -- usually what happens it TH-cam identifies copyright with an advanced algorithm called TH-cam ID, and it just means you can't make money from your video, and that the copyright holders can run ads on it and make money from it.
Great job. Here’s a novel idea, with sea shanties being a thing now go back a generation or two and react to the Clancy brothers, Tommy Makem, the Dubliners or Irish Rovers et al for there renditions. Although it’s not a sea shanty, I’d be interested in your reaction to Liam Clancy’s version of “The Band Played Waltzing Matilda” historical license notwithstanding it’s the most powerful anti war song ever penned imho.
Love it! Except for the transition between "...winds don't blow and it's" to "time for us to leave her". The key at "it's" should be the same when moving to "time" because it's one sentence. Should be a smooth flow through "...winds don't blow and it's time for us to leave her". Shouldn't go up key at "time", should be the same key through and then drop at "her".
Have just discovered you. Beauuuutiful voice. Warm, rich, effortless singing. Peter, you are not just a very fine singer, you are a true artist. Bravo!! Bravo!! Bravo!!
Gorgeous, Peter! Wonderful job, as always!

Dude I can actually sing along the bass line, now I can't watch this cover without singing with you

We need way more covers like this (not necessarily the sea shanty style) but songs covered in this style arrangement! This sounds AWESOME!!! 🎉
Wow. What a variation on the normal simple song we hear. Thank you
Oooooooh goosebumps, what a charming old fable classic so eloquently sung! Bravo!!!!
I wish I was this skilled

Interesting how the voice can create overtones , especially perfect fourths and fifths (01:12-01:15 on the first leave her Johnny)
It's amazing what happens when voices are super in-tune with one another -- feels like magic when done live

That moment when you can sing along with the low harmony better than the lead on a bass-baritone's vocals. I feel like I might be a bass after all. 😅
