Yes, it’s basically required if you own the base game since you get a new playable character and a great selection of amazing new bosses all for the low price of $8. Which’s definitely highway robbery for how much effort and polish is put into this DLC.
I honestly don't know what's stopping reviewers from giving Cuphead and the DLC a 10/10. They are practically perfect experiences for the genre that do exactly what they set out to do. Personally one of my favorite games of all time with the addition of this DLC.
I think it's the difficulty and the fact that there are no checkpoints in between bosses each time you die you have to start the fight all over again from phase 1 I think those are the only things that stopped cuphead from getting perfect 10 out 10 score because most gamers don't understand the meaning of get good lol
The difficulty and the randomness are what stopping that. Though fun, it's also infuriating. The randomness especially. The RNG can have moments where you will be hit no matter what you do. Good bullet hells will let you not be hit no matter what if you can get a sense of the pattern. The base game's run and gun sections are also just okay. Not good, not bad. Just okay. They kinda do feel slapped together cause people wanted to have them after seeing the trailer. Also no game is perfect (except tetris). So anyone can make any criticism. But the doesn't diminish the game at all
My main issue with the DLC is that it's too easy. Some bosses had a hard phase, but overall the difficulty was pretty lacking in comparison to the main game. Even the final boss was pretty easy barring the first phase. The only boss that was decently challenging the whole way through was the secret boss. I give the DLC an 8/10.
Oh I'm pretty sure the the 2 brothers and sister n law made out with millions. 6 million copies is not much for a big blockbuster costing 100 million to make, but for an indie game, that's huge. On top of that all the money they' ll make off physical sales. So yea, don' t worry. The family behind this game are multimillionaires now.
Some may say it hurts too good! Still budgeting my paycheck and getting into the Masterpiece of the Deal of a Lifetime! Have to say I'm liking what I've gotten into wanting to get into the DLC once I'm done.
I want to buy this game and the DLC because it looks so damn amazing but I simply can't because overly difficult games will only make me super angry and make me utterly hate the game. I can't deal with it like I used to as a kid.
Imo Cuphead isn't really a hard game, it's just one that takes patience and time to understand and get the hang of each boss. I mean technically the game is difficult but it's not usually unfairly difficult and even when it is most bosses take less than 2 minutes to complete so it's not like you have lost a bunch of progress when you die. Most attacks are extremely well telegraphed and once you figure out how to counter all their attacks it becomes extremely manageable. Definitely think it's worth a shot, even if you get frustrated and give up it's worth experiencing for the animation and music. (Especially since it goes on sale for pretty cheap)
I mean... there are dozens of deceltly priced indie games on the system, and many of which go on sale down to the lowest price of $1.99. So I could maybe recommend a game or five. (specifically depending on your "ESRB range" and your top 3 game catigory choices.) But with out that info, and assumed region of North America, and current games on sale (under $20) I would recommend: Castlevania Advanced Collection ($13.39) 2 fantastic GBA games, and the others are good too. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch ($9.99) A wonderful monster collection adventure RPG originally on Ps3 Bastion ($2.99) (& Transistor $3.99) Great top down adventure games with fluid real time combat. Torchlight 2 ($4.99) A Diablo clone that is good by some of the Diablo 2 developers. Danganronpa: Trigger happy havoc ($7.49) RATED M A murder mystery visual novel game with lite relationship building mechanics. [Logical reasoning for the puzzles is medium] originally made for PSP, then upgraded for PSV now on Switch. Classic [RATED T-M] FPS games from ID software. Doom, Doom 2, Doom 64 and Quake are all fun ports from the 1990's. (About 2-3$) they all come with additional content, and even multiplayer. Gyro aiming too. Now most of these games are ports. This is true. And some of them are better on other beefier consoles. But they are all solid recommendations.

Puzzle Quest (1): The Ledgend returns. Match 3 RPG. Rune Factory 4: Special Farming, Crafting, Dating, Action RPG. 30 - 50 hours (less then $20 at some point.) Wunderling Platformer auto run puzzle game. Fantastic! (The demo makes it seem like a cell phone game, but they add game mechanics until there are three other buttons you need know how they work to 100% all the puzzles.) Dicey Dungeons Roll some dice in this puzzle game. Axiom Verge Metroid vania. Best thing is the randomizer which lets the game have a decent additional challenge. Celeste is in here too. Smile Basic 4 Yes, you could learn to program and make your own Switch game using the BASIC code language, but it also lets you download and play a ton of user made games Too! AND The Celeste dev also uses this from time to time, and publishes the smaller test games here. [Super Bearland 2] is by another developer. But it is super fun and high quality.
Yes - Celeste, while not quite the same type of game, has a similar feeling to Cuphead. Precision-based challenging platforming, but made palatable (and fun!) by splitting it into bite-sized chunks with nearly-instant restarts, so you rarely have that feeling of "Ugh I have to do all that again?"
There is no difference between versions in this game but on switch you can take it portably and you have instant multiplayer through the joycons so i would recommend that but if that is not appealing to you any version is fine.

@@teneesh3376 I guess that’s the main reason they focused on the bosses in this DLC instead, since they knew they’re by far the best aspect of it.
@@amirgarcia547 The entire dlc only has bosses lol. The entire dlc really played to Cuphead's strengths.

100% the rage moment was during the Moonshine Mob final phase, wasn’t it?
i thought it was at the howling aces' screen rotating phase, cause that boss was shown at the start of that paragraph

Aah, didn't notice that. Cool
The voice modulator was absolutely perfect for the cutscenes, thank you hahaha
Idk why people are salty that the expansion is short like--DLC is meant to be a little treat, not a whole new game lmfao.
It’s also only $8, totally worth it
Yea, some people are spoiled by 40 dollar-DLCs from big studios that essentially act as a sequel
This is a great deal in gaming. This game is good enough to be full priced. The developers deserve more money for this gem
I’m buying the physical version for switch to support them.

So the question i have is this going to have a complete physical release on Switch?
This is probably the most artistically beautiful game ever made. Other artists and developer's should take note.
Some may say it hurts too good! Still budgeting my paycheck and getting into the Masterpiece of the Deal of a Lifetime! Have to say I'm liking what I've gotten into wanting to get into the DLC once I'm done.

I have other games on my list right now, but I’ll definitely come back for this.
What's the new games released this month Nintendo Life?
If you are a fan of the original, this expansion is really good because the bosses are way creative than before
Still no physical release for such a gem 💎
I would say that it's coming but then I would get "that's what she said"ed

I really love the art style of this game! It makes me so sad that I can't play it because I just don't have the required emotional control
I can never bring myself to use auto seeking bullets.
Shotgun all the way, unless impossible then pea shooter.
Should I get cuphead? Just about to finish chapter 9 in Celeste after 20+ hours and don’t have any other games to play on switch

Can Ms Chalice be used in the main game to make it easier?
