Visually - fantatsic, its very cute and the love the power ups. Gameplay - its good. Its repetitive, but you can mix up the power ups to change up your appraoch regularly. Difficulty - Low. Even on normal mode, its dead easy. There is an aftergame mode which is harder than the main game but comparatively to other series like Mario or Zelda etc. Its still an easy. Replayability - the collect-a-thon aspects of the game will create lots of replayability and I personally enjoyed it but once again its hardly difficult. Story - i quite enjoyed the story. Its pretty dark actually.
Happy to see Kirby get a better game on the Switch. Star Allies was okay, but it just dragged on and on. Kirby deserved better and thankfully he got it this time. I played through the first area of Forgotten Land last night and can’t wait to play more today.
Wow, I was a Kirby doubter all this time. I downloaded the Demo. This really is Kirby's ''Mario 64 moment''. Good on him ,, erm it!! Power to the Pink! Thank you. I'm the latest fan.
I liked the demo but was worried about the game being a little too easy or light on content for me. I know they added quite a bit of content to Kirby Star Allies after release, so I might wait to see if they do that with this game before picking it up.
I am having so much damn fun in this game. It's relaxing but still slightly challenging at some parts, the aesthetic (of the world and abilities and characters) are absolutely charming. I can't wait to play it some more after work!
Tbh, I didn’t know if I liked the idea of a 3d Kirby until the trailer for this game came out. After playing it for a couple of hours I can say that this was definitely worth it.
Hi, I got an A on my weak subject and my dad let me buy a Nintendo Switch I am very happy and I chose Kirby cuz why not? I heard of it all the time and I wish wanna give it a try. Update to you all after I got the game!
I haven't played it yet, but I have to say that it has just about the most polished and appealing demo I've ever played. Indie devs take note, this is how you make a sale.
The game was made after years of evaluation, and planning. It was made not designed in your normal time span of normal game development. I guess my two previous sentences are partly true based on that the company already had ideas fully thought out for the game in a rough idea form for some of the power up capabilities, and the rest of the ideas were already fully thought our already; it is unclear if they were put into action or not on a smaller scale considering that the Nintendo Switch was not even possible to get made yet when they got the initial idea approved by Nintendo. Based on what the company was saying, thoguh, they were testing the ideas out somehow if they were able to confidently answer the questions regarding the game. This game is not indie developed with Nintendo likely approving every decision that was not talked about by the company through an interview, especially since the company was not sure on the amount of players to allow for the multi-player functionality of the game. The game can handle up to 8 people playing at once, at least according to what the company was proposing the finalized idea to be for the game.
I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention how enemies in background move at 5 fps, like at 8:50 look at the bronto burt. It’s really noticeable on big screen but that’s my only real complaint about the game
Yes, it's really noticeable. Super Mario Odyssey also uses this one and many more tricks to keep 60 FPS. In Kirby, since the game is more linear, you'll often see the lower framerate elements way too close to your character.
So much of this game reminds me of other game elements. But most of all it reminds me of Smash Bros Ultimate's adventure mode 'World of Light'. The overworld design is very similar in design with the fractural star for each challenge. The storyline is pretty much the same, you need to save Leon because his soul was stolen just like Mario and the other characters... either Sakura used Smash Bros world of Light as a template for his next game or he put as much of his own IP into smash bros to get approval for a new Kirby game. The ending where all the buildings magically align themselves to attack the final boss feels very much like Viewtiful Joe, then turned up to Super Sayain mode with Kirby's very own Kamehameha wave. Also there is some nods to Mario and Luigi super star saga.
This game really grew on me as I played it. I will say that I wish Kirby was just a bit faster. If he was as fast as the speed boost power-up allowed all the time, it would have been much better.
Nintendo likely no say directly in what the content was to be included in the game. Everything in the game was either talked about by the company in an interview, by another person, or by Nintendo after getting confirmation that it was a good idea to proceed with.
I guess everyone has their different ideas on value of games but for me personally a 10 hour game for 60 dollars has got to be an incredible experience to be worth it to me. And I don't think a super easy platformer is really going to be an incredible experience but maybe I'm wrong.
I wasn't interested in this game, thinking "now that's a series that really didn't need an open world". I'm glad to know it actually keeps a more traditional stage structure, and I may even think about buying it.
There is blue coins located in areas where you might not think to look, even in the main areas of the game. I did not play the game myself, it is only based on the information from the game found in interviews with the company talking about it. There was definitely mention of them saying that even though a player thinks that they have 100% of the blue coins in a stage, they might possibly have missed one in plain site. I was thinking the exact same thing prior to me finding out all of the information about the game from the interviews that I managed to dig up with them talking about the game. I think that maybe the way later one of them talking about the credits of the game finally made me want to buy the game. It definitely caught my attention, that was for sure. Everything that they described in their interviews matches the game down to a T as well. Playing the game side by side with the interviews present, including the interview about Kirby 64 which they also said to possibly save for the future as well for I believe that it explains the car stage and cone stage idea, might make playing the game more interesting and possibly easier to play.
Just warning you in advance, any of their interviews will just make time flow by so fast that you are going to have watch the clock if you are planning go anywhere. Just the way that they talk about the content will want to draw you in, even if you are not fully interested in the concept that they talking about.
Great review as always, but did you really have to throw shots at Flipswitch Galaxy like that 😅🤷♂️ Maybe I’m the odd one out but I actually really loved the spin mechanic and shaking the Wii remote never bothered me, even to this day. (Btw the mapped button controls in 3D All Stars are also pretty cool)
You can tell they really made Star Allies into something to be celebrated by fans overtime with all the updates with addition of fan favorite characters/lore/modes but it really doesn’t fix the bland levels and uninteresting gameplay They really put there heart out with this upcoming game and the passion truly shows, I haven’t been excited for Kirby since, well, ever and hearing this review only heightens it
I recently gave into peer pressure from coworkers, and bought Elden Ring (my first souls game). As I was trying to figure out the mechanics and generally just stay alive, all I could think was "damn it why didn't I just get the new Kirby so I could actually have fun?!" 😔 this game looks awesome
Nintendo really needs to step up their game and stop being afraid to make their games a little more difficult. Most Kirby fans are in their late 20’s and 30’s. I really wanted to buy this, but even after playing the “hard mode,” I think I’ll just save my money. Unfortunate. I’m a giant Kirby fan, and it’s been too long since he’s had his own, proper game.
If anything this is the game that finally showed me that a game doesn't need to be hard to enjoy it. Played this after beating Elden Ring and just had a blast with it
The "7 hours to finish the game" is honestly *underwhelming* for its asking price. Ehh.... In any case I don't buy Kirby games and only play them IF my brother (who is actually a Kirby fan) buys them himself (if he doesn't, then I don't care tbh). Although, I will say I like the "segmented-zones" approach (like *Mario 3D World)* as opposed to the *tedious* bigger worlds (like Mario Odyssey).
Not sure how I feel about how copy abilities can be upgraded. From the demo, it felt like it’d make more sense if you got the “base” version from swallowing common enemies and the “upgraded” version from swallowing the mini bosses, especially since that way would match with the caps you wear.
I Wish More Abilities Were In The game And Could Be Upgraded,Like Plasma From SuperStarUltra!Plasma Level 3:ElectroLaser Plasma!Instant Plasma Charge!ELECTRIC MURDER BEAM!!!!OR UFO WAVE BEAM!!!!
@@RSgaming1337 ye, true. Im sure its still fun but I would prefer a hard mode. Maybe a one shot mode like metroid dread would be cool. Would be easy to do
They did tease that something might happen when the player collects all of the blue coins in the whole entire game. They also want 100% gamers to be play with game as well, I guess based on what they saying specifically about them.
Love the game! Been waiting for decades for a proper 3D Kirby. Only issue is that they don't have an option to invert the Y axis when aiming with some of the abilities.
I can understand that it's I guess targeting a younger audience but like how young? Idk if I've played a game as easy as this before. Even past Kirby games never came off this easy. I was on "wild" mode. 🤷♂️

Yeah...Kirby Mass Attack still is the first, last, and greatest Kirby game of all time. It finally forced me to turn my brain on and do more than boringly mash buttons and simp to cutesy visuals...leaving a lot to be desired when it comes to actual game play in a typical Kirby game. This game is like every other Kirby game, and it's a shame Hal never went along Mass Attack's route when designing Kirby games worth taking seriously. Mass Attack's game play made me think. It made me achieve SOMETHING. It had my head bobbing the whole way through thanks to its immaculate and fitting musical score. It pissed me off many times at the challenge of a Kirby game for once...and it made me feel a euphoria like never before once I dropped 100% in that game. This game is just another display of the brainless and antiquated Kirby formula with a fresh coat of paint. Thanks but...no thanks.

I never played Kirby games as a child. Or rather never played video games at all as a child. But that music! Why am I getting nostalgia?
Played the demo for a few hours with my 6 year old over and over as he enjoyed it too much and just bought the game. Excited to play more!
I personally like these games, due to the replayability. Basically, you can repeat it and do more things than what you had even done before.
This is personally one of my favorite video games of all time. Loved the world and story, and the linear 3d platformer structure.
I remember getting the Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection for my Wii back in 2012. Time flies.
I liked the demo but was worried about the game being a little too easy or light on content for me. I know they added quite a bit of content to Kirby Star Allies after release, so I might wait to see if they do that with this game before picking it up.
They definitely explained in advance what the demo of the game was going to contain.
I can't wait to see what nightmare fuel awaits us near the end of the game
I feel like Alex is the only person at Nintendo life
I don’t even have to watch the review to know this is already going to be a Kirby game a LOT of people are going to consider their favorite.
Just beat it today. Damn. I wasn’t lying. It’s now MY favorite Kirby game lol
Also there is some nods to Mario and Luigi super star saga.
dude... the last time sakurai worked on a kirby game was in 2003.
This game really grew on me as I played it. I will say that I wish Kirby was just a bit faster. If he was as fast as the speed boost power-up allowed all the time, it would have been much better.
For me, it's essentially Yoshi's Woolly/Crafted World but with Kirby's abilities in a more open environment.
The best Kirby game ever existed without a single doubt, great job Nintendo!
Nintendo likely no say directly in what the content was to be included in the game. Everything in the game was either talked about by the company in an interview, by another person, or by Nintendo after getting confirmation that it was a good idea to proceed with.
"oh no bros this linear platformer isn't 5000+ hours long time to cancel my preorder bros"
I guess everyone has their different ideas on value of games but for me personally a 10 hour game for 60 dollars has got to be an incredible experience to be worth it to me. And I don't think a super easy platformer is really going to be an incredible experience but maybe I'm wrong.
This game would be a masterpiece, if I was like 10
I’m crying with the music at the end 🤣 I need this game so bad. It’s almost here!!
After playing Elden Ring, this will be the perfect chill game to play! Lol
What's funny is that the final boss of this game will probably be more of an abomination than that of Elden Ring's.
@@iamCifu lmao
Great review as always, but did you really have to throw shots at Flipswitch Galaxy like that 😅🤷♂️ Maybe I’m the odd one out but I actually really loved the spin mechanic and shaking the Wii remote never bothered me, even to this day. (Btw the mapped button controls in 3D All Stars are also pretty cool)
Fantastic review. I can't wait to play this game
This is whitout a though a much better game than star allies,Nintendo shure give something special for kirby 30th anniversary
You can tell they really made Star Allies into something to be celebrated by fans overtime with all the updates with addition of fan favorite characters/lore/modes but it really doesn’t fix the bland levels and uninteresting gameplay
They really put there heart out with this upcoming game and the passion truly shows, I haven’t been excited for Kirby since, well, ever and hearing this review only heightens it
I recently gave into peer pressure from coworkers, and bought Elden Ring (my first souls game). As I was trying to figure out the mechanics and generally just stay alive, all I could think was "damn it why didn't I just get the new Kirby so I could actually have fun?!" 😔 this game looks awesome
Yeah Souls games are never really fun. They’re more rewarding than fun.
Target demo are children and gamer parents who want to play with their kids.
zachary kine phantom forgo dedede and forgo leon will curb stump u without ur morpho sword +
If anything this is the game that finally showed me that a game doesn't need to be hard to enjoy it. Played this after beating Elden Ring and just had a blast with it
Already had preorder it, the last Kirby game I played was on the original Gameboy.
The upgraded abilities might been the new way of what N64 did. (When you combined the same ability you would've gotten a stronger ability).
This will be such a lovely break from Elden Ring.
The demo was a joy but im worried at just hpw easy it is. I hope they add an extra hard mode
bro it's kirby
@@RSgaming1337 ye, true. Im sure its still fun but I would prefer a hard mode. Maybe a one shot mode like metroid dread would be cool. Would be easy to do
They did tease that something might happen when the player collects all of the blue coins in the whole entire game. They also want 100% gamers to be play with game as well, I guess based on what they saying specifically about them.
@@joshernsteen2066 ah interesting. Maybe there's a reason
Love the game! Been waiting for decades for a proper 3D Kirby. Only issue is that they don't have an option to invert the Y axis when aiming with some of the abilities.
So it seems to be exactly what I expect from a Kirby game.
Easy main game with some more difficult optional content.
Jumping into this Kirby gave me such nostalgia vibes dreamland on the GB was my first game as a lil kid ❤❤
Why does Kirby music always slap so hard?
Now I hope we get to see a fully open world Kirby game
2:48 " ... a land through which you must jump, glide, motorboat (not like that),"
_sweating profusely_
Easy should not take away from charm, or else Spyro the dragon wouldn't be my favourite series :)
Been a fan of the brave Kirby since the early adventures. Forgotten Lands pre-ordered! Ready for Friday!! "Poyo!"
Wait... so I can motorboat in mouthful mode? Perfection
@2:50 Motor Boating his way to sucess!
The only Kirby game I've ever played was Smash ;]. My duality is taking a break from Elden Ring by playing Kirby lol. Anyone else?
"motorboat... not like that" Boy that caught me off guard lol
People don't like the Flipswitch Galaxy mechanic in Mario? I guess I'm a weirdo, because I found those levels so fun and memorable xD
Same here man, I’m also a weirdo haha. I loved those levels.
Nice NME salesman reference at 2:39
"I really liked it... really liked it...." Best review ever :D
This game looks so cute! Excited to try it!
Its so sad for it being just 7-14 hours for a 55 € game :(
Wow that's so short it's $90 CAD I think I'll pass for now then
If you want difficulty stop complaining and play a Dark Souls game. If you want to relax and have fun, play this. Enough said.
Exactly, simple as that
I canceled my preorder after playing the demo. I gotta ask does it get better?
the issue i have is that it's way to easy imo, considering the playtime of what? 8-10 hours.. ehh not really a fan of that
I can understand that it's I guess targeting a younger audience but like how young? Idk if I've played a game as easy as this before. Even past Kirby games never came off this easy. I was on "wild" mode. 🤷♂️
@@corporalquigg7873 It's more focused on exploration. It's just supposed to come from exploring the world and finding secrets, not from difficulty.
'...motorboat (not like that)' Ok, I lost my coffee at that lol!
Does it have a volume slider for at least the music? I found the music way too loud when I play the demo and couldn't find a volume slider.
Great review, I might pick this up today it’s on my must buy list
For someone who has played both Kirby & DK Tropical Freeze on Switch. Which would you recommend if only 1?
Well I'm 47.... need I say more....
(I really liked the demo too)
😂
Age is but a number. Never stop gaming. 👍
The last game i played where i had a smile on my face the entire playthrough was Mario Odyssey, this might be the next one :) So excited to get this tomorrow
This will be my first ever Kirby game, eventhou I celibrated 50 years as gamer ie got given some Nintendo Japanese playing cards from my uncle age 5 so I've been told.Im 55 now.
Did you get in trouble for showing too much before the release? Is that why this video is private, now?
Really excited to check this out!
Wayyyyyy better than star allies, I literally finished the entire story mode of star allies in a day or two but this one is gonna take a lot longer
After Elden Ring I think I am going to enjoy a chill adventure where death doesn't wait around every corner.
