Personally I disagree with your opinion on chalices heart special. It isn’t all that useful in the base game. But it is really useful whilst trying to S rank bosses, especially ones you aren’t consistent with. And yes heart ring is good, it does force you to play as Cuphead forcing you to not be able to use the borderline broken features of chalice.
Literally depending on how many parries and meter you get in, it's infinite health. They cant stack but you can basically have infinite health if you're efficient with your meter.
Me too. For me they're the best couple of weapons as in they are the most versatile couple for range & damage, only tied in versatilty to chaser/spread (at least in the vanilla game) @@alwaysjarron6260
ITS SHOTS FASTER THEN ROUNDAUBOUT (roundabout fire rate is 0.22 sconds 22 millaseconds btw whille twist up is 0.2 seconds per shot and thats 20 LESS millaseconds just saying )

@@Air_Pillow i hope you saw my comment on the video, no? Ok here it is Twist up argument rebuttal nobody asked for: (This is not slander I'm just going to say this to make a point) [Aim diagonally] Aiming diagonally requires the RB control, which pauses Cuphead. When the boss attacks, you will have to move. It doesn't even do enough damage since you have to constantly dodge attacks and cannot aim diagonally. (In bosses in front of you that is, but this is his solution for these bosses.) Plus, if you aim diagonally, it will mostly just hit the ground before the boss and disappear. [If the three twisters hit, it will have the same damage output as roundabout, so it is not worse] In his footage you can notice barely any twisters hit and it is sort of infrequent. Plus, you end up hitting the boss far more with the roundabout. The roundabout is much more useful in more situations (Like the Chef S. phase 2.) [It's not very situational, you have to aim better, and you can use it for many bosses] Well most of the time you have to get up close to get all the twisters to hit, at this point just use spread. Aiming is very difficult and it isn't worth it, and it only hits the boss for a few occasions, and even then, it's not the best weapon. Here is all the bosses he says are good for, and my rebuttal. [Root Pack] How so? You can't aim diagonally, or it will hit the floor and disappear. The only way to hit the potato and onion is to go close to them, but the spread just does more damage. I can see people thinking the carrot is good for twist-up, but you are constantly moving left and right so only a few twisters will hit. Even spread is easier to use, jumping and aiming up with it does a ton on damage, it deals with mini carrots too. When he zaps, just move and continue doing damage in between zaps! Also, Crack-shot is also very good, because it hits a lot and the uncracked parts do a lot more damage and still hit. [Cagney Carnation] Just no. This time you can aim diagonally, but it is still hard to use and my first point about it still stands. I can never see anyone thinking this is the weapon they will equip for this boss (and many other bosses), because they're are so many better ones. [Ribby and Croaks] You never get a good chance to hit. Just use spread, roundabout, or crack-shot. [Baroness Von Bon Bon] This is mediocre, but it doesn't deal with most of the mini bosses as well as others, plus the last phase is just no. [Beppi The Clown] It may work, but spread is way better. [Rumor Honneybottoms] The first and last phase is not viable for twist-up, but the second phase barely works for it. [Captain Briney-Beard] It sounds like it would work, but you're not hitting him that much. [Werner Werman] It isn't good for the first phase, its fine for half the second phase, and it's pretty good for the last phase. You can use the spread for second phase and the last phase, but it is still good. No shot I'm using it for this boss fight though. [Phantom Express] It's situational for this fight. The first phase is bad, the second phase sound like it would be good, but it's less viable than the spread, same with the third phase. But for the final phase, just use crack-shot. [Chips Bettigan] It sounds good, but you shouldn't equip it because the rest of the fight is harder with it. [Pip and Dot] The conveyor belt pushes you too far away. [Hopus Pocus] Most of the fight, you have to be on the card, do you could be doing more damage. [Pirouletta] Same problem with Chips Bettigan. Also spread works way better, plus if you don't have smoke bomb it's useless. [Mangosteen] You are moving back and forth? Yes, so it will not hit. Plus you could go towards the middle with spread to have more time to react to the chalk. [King Dice] Yeah, you are moving back and forth. The twisters will hit less than spread anyways. [The Devil] I hope you see a pattern, the reason he says it is could for a lot of fight is because it is close to you, so the twisters will hit. But same with spread. Also the first phase isn't good for twist up is because you move back and forth. [Glumb-Stone the Giant] The first phase isn't good, I already explained why aiming diagonally isn't good. The second phase is just roundabout or spread. The third phase, you are moving a lot, and so is where you need to hit. It cannot hit very much. [Moonshine Mob] It doesn't hit in the first phase, same with the second phase and... same with the third phase. Why would you ever use it on this fight? [Howling Aces] You are moving, and the boss is moving, so it don't do enough damage. That applies to the first and second phase. Also never use it on the third phase. That is because you aren't going to hit her, unless you're up close, but just use the spread then. Also the screen is sideways she it right above you and the twist-up doesn't go exactly above you. You cannot aim because you have to dodge. [Mortimer Freeze] For the first phase, You are moving, and the boss is moving, almost no damage. Also, it is pretty obvious why you wouldn't bring it to the other phases. [Chef Saltbaker] The first phase it bullet hell, so you aren't hitting very many shots. The second phase is outranked spread and roundabout once again. Do not use it for the other two phases, it won't go well. [Angel and Demon] Hmmm... I wonder why he says this. Maybe because you go up close. I wonder what weapon does that better, and PotatoKing said it was worse on the tier list... Hmmm. Finally, I finished that! Anyways lets go back to his argument. [Those bosses can be dealt with pretty efficiently!] Only like two or three can. That makes it.... SITUATIONAL! It would still be difficult to beat these bosses only with twist-up. At least if you had to beat them with spread, that would be a whole lot easier- yet he still puts spread under twist-up. [More than half the bosses in the game, still you think it's unviable?] I explained why it isn't effective to those bosses. Plus using twist-up is never the best choice for one of your shots in a boss. In conclusion, this Potato thinks it is better than spread, that isn't true. Spread does more damage, and mostly to hit with twist-up you have to go close. When a boss is above you, you still don't hit much. I don't even think he uses twist up as his weapon a lot (Because it is never the best choice.)
I disagree with his view on Roundabout. He argues that you can stack major damage on the boss, but it’s no different if you stood there and fired up close. As your fire rate is always the same so it creates no difference. At least to me. But I would still rank it highly though.
@@BobMcBurger1 Yeah but standing up close isn't as good because you need to play a lot better so you don't hit, but that really just depends on the boss.
I'd like to mention that Converge doesn't always have to be locked in. If anything, the weapon has the properties of both spread and peashooter. It's a favorite of mine because it takes the damage output of Spread, and applies the range of Peashooter to the weapon. A long range blaster, and you'd consider more space from the bosses up, down and center, B Tier? Huh
it has slightly more dps than peashooter, but unless you are aiming you are probably going to miss more shots. also the ex move is a worse version of peashooter's. its dps is way worse than spread's so it cant really be an alternative to it. i can only see converge as a viable option against bosses that spawn a lot of enemies, but even then there are better alternatives like roundabout, which stays on screen for far longer which helps with dealing with enemies. i see your point with it being a combination between peashooter and spread, but by combining them you get a result that is lackluster in both departments. what i can clearly see with weapons tho, is that the general stats or what the most viable option for each boss is doesnt matter as long as you like that weapon. what i mean by that is that even tho a weapon isnt the best for a specific boss, if you like it, or feel confident in using it, then u can use it, justy like potato king likes twist up and considers it to be viable in a lot of scenarios, when in reality there are better options for almost all the bosses he mentions. with all of these, he is good at using the weapon and he seems to like using it, so it doesnt matter that it isnt the best option. if it works for you, then yes, converge can be good, but from an objective point of view i find it mediocre.
Spread EX is amazing for background bosses that stand still like Root Pack phase 3, Beppi phase 4, etc. Since you can get inside their hitbox without taking damage, you can easily land all 8 shots, as well as the main Spread being able to instantly hit all its shots if you're standing right in them means you can easily build up a ton of damage.
Spread EX and whetstone in my opinion are comparable when talking about DPS. Whetstone is really spamable and does good damage for it's speed WHEN USED CORRECTLY. But, it's really easy to learn correctstone to do lots of dmg when used with crackshot, lobber, chaser, or roundabout.
Charge shot just really greases my gears, love it so much. Dunno why homing is so controversial, it's just a handicapped laser with homeing. Roundabout is really fun. Twister, as a Terraria player, get good, if you hate you bad at the game, or you hate gimmicks. Most ex shots are bad to me, simply cause saving up to the supers gives you better stuff. I usually run invincible, it pairs really well with spread, though the others are really cool.
@@Viper57582if you gotta dodge an attack tho then you lose the charge and you gotta use it more sparingly since it can’t hit through enemies (i think) and you gotta make extra sure you can hit it while staying out of damage/putting yourself in a bad spot
@@Thing_of_somes it can’t hit through enemies like the converge but can you name other ones and I pretty sure I use it in good places like 2nd stage chef saltbaker
Here’s the thing about lobber, it’s not really for normal uses, utility is basically a must for it and knowing specific tricks and knowledge about the projectile itself. For example: When a boss is about to pop up on screen, (Beppis phase 4 transition and root packs phase 2 transition) Stand where they will be and shoot directly up. The lobbers will keep bouncing and hit the boss for a lot of early damage. It’s called a lobber trap and it’s essential for speedrunning.
Great on bootleg boogie because the higher you are, the more the bounce. I call it 'charging the shot', since it is essentially what you are able to do when the enemy isn't present. Full charge would then be the maximum number of projectiles possible. Roundabout has the same feature as well.
Lobber EX has the highest damage in the game, I S-ranked the devil with Charge, Lobber, Super 3, And Cookie. If i wanted to use an ex (1st and second phase), I would quickly switch to lobber, use an ex, then switch back to charge. Edit: Twist Up actually has the best ex
Well in total with chalice you have 6 health Chalice 4 health Plus the heart Plus have 5 cards for another heart While CUPHEAD is better for S because CUPHEAD 3 health Heart ring Then invincibility
Whenever I start a new save, I buy roundabout first. It’s like the charger in the sense that you can focus more on the dodge than the attack, but it does a bit more damage and I think that sometimes you actually do have to aim depending on your boss, which helps teach you that you can’t always rely on the shots to hit by themselves. I love it!
10:32 Parrying the Crackshot EX also counts as a parry for the Heart Ring charm, and I'm pretty sure it counts as a parry for ranking as well. In comparison to parryable level objects such as the springs in Murine Corps phase 1 and the horse skull bells in Gnome Way Out phase 3.
17:19 how these ranking systems normally work is if you place a item on a capped one it will give it a extra line to fit (will keep happening. so A tier would just be bigger than normal)
@@nicjoy4407 I also Just found Out and you would think ITS Like a Boomerang that hite the enemy and comes Back to you. And during a hard Boss you notice it even less
@@Imyouyouareme I played the game blind and noticed it pretty quick. If you use it in some of the harder fights I can see that, but I was using it for a lot of the act 1 fights.
If you combine the charge shot with the whetstone, you get a damage dealing MONSTER, I used this setup to defeat moonshine mob in less than a minute whilst also avoiding to take out any background enemies as well, giving me the “high hatter” achievement I think it was called (also if your wondering “why not just use the divine relic?” The reason being is that the relic randomizes your weapon every shot you make, thus ruining your damage dealing loadout with a weapon that deals terrible damage or has terrible utility which ruins the point of the loadout)
Whetstone isn't completely useless. I don't use it to attack non-background bosses, but it's helpful if your getting sandwiched and your only exit route will land you on a minion, so use Whetstone and get to safety. Ironic that the only damage dealing charm is more useful for defensive reasons.
I personally use Whetstone in the plane fights after using my super on the boss... it gives me some invincibility for me to use it safely and to get a little extra damage in on the boss. The extra damage is not much but I always find it satisfying when I pull it off.
I had this bosa idea for a while it takes insparation for ribby and croaks final phase with the slot machine in a plane mimicing the player's shots (I mean the shot types) Peashooter: Aim at the player and charge shoots 4 smaller shots when charging Chaser: One giant Chaser Star following a loop in the arena while it shoots and orbits Chaser Stars Spread: Constantly tries to go at the player when timer is done mimics the Ex Ability Roundabout: A Buzzsaw will aim forthe center and when the saw reaches the end of the screen tries to go back to the original position while rotating clockwise or counter clockwise Lobber: Shoots 4 lobber balls in 4 directions then charges at the player when the main ball hits a wall it spawns a new lobber ball to bounce in a random direction Charge: Shoots 3 uncharged shots in 4 directions then a charged shot aims for the player's position Crackshot: A P. Turret will orbit in position shooting cracked shots ocassionaly shooting crackshots above and below Converge: Shoots a laser in 8 directions the main laser will travel in one direction like the laser to try and get close to the player Twist Up: Summons a tornado in a random postion slowly going outwards Exploder: Explodes in a random position then fires 3 shots targeting the player Arc: Bounces along the floor and in 3-5 jumps it will spawn mini green stars that in both directions that will jump in the direction they're spawned
In my opinion, super 2 (chalice) is really good! Because of crackshot you only need to Focus on dodging, not damage. Super 2 (chalice) really helps with that. And plus, twin heart lowers your damage, and some bosses don’t have enough parry’s for heart ring to be useful.
Lobber is definitely hugely underrated, it can be invaluable for stacking for burst damage when the boss is between phases or unable to be hit during an attack I think Converge is super underrated as well, the ability to clear minions and hit destroyable projectiles with ease full screen is very useful Chalice Super 2 is easily S tier, I’d say easily the best in the game I would take an extra rechargeable, stackable health over super damage any day IMO Same goes for Cuphead’s invincibility super too, 5 seconds of invincibility is extremely versatile
converge has great DPS. And the sheer power you hold when bringing it into beppi alongside spread is unmatched. When he summons like 5 penguins, position yourself at an edge and kill them all with one ex
The word "outclassed" is something commonly used in gaming to say "there are better options" or so and so. The DEFINITION of outclassed is Twist-up. I am so tired of all the MDHR suckups defending this weapon for whatever odd reason. You want to hit a boss above you? Crackshot. "Aim downwards for horizontal shooting" half the time you are on the floor, and the floor blocks your shot. The description of Twist up states it has average damage. For something you have to aim so awkwardly, you'd think it makes up for improved damage. Tell me to kms or whatever you're gonna say, Twist-up does NOT deserve the constant defense
I think I might've treated the roundabout too harshly, not that I thought it was trash, but I always used charge shot instead of roundabout instead for about every boss it was useable against. The only time I can think of using roundabout was Beppi The Clown, but other than that, I've really looked it down. This video inspires to me to replay Cuphead and use roundabout more. Thanks Potato King!
Finally someone on TH-cam has said something about twist up I thought it would be bad and when I beat the kings game I bought it found it so useful then wondered why so many hated it
Fun fact: if you go into your save slot files and find player one or player two money you can change the value. When you first reopen the game after doing so it will say you have 9 coins but when you go to pork rinds it will change to be a lot higher
I almost wanted to say Twist Up was an A tier, but it was honestly one of my favorites to get from Divine Relic, the others being Crackshot and Roundabout of course. Also giving an honorable mention to converge for being a fantastic shot against the first three bosses of Phantom Express. Seriously guys, if you want to S Rank, use Converge and Crackshot
13:30 I have to disagree with you on the Shield Pal ranking here. As someone who's hunting for S on bosses, the Shield Pal proved to be really good! You need 3 HP at least at the end of the fight to get an S; as you said, Chalice gets 4 already, and with the Shield Pal she basically has 5, if not 6! You can take up to 3 hits in a battle and still get an S score! That's worth it IMO.

Some weapons are good for most bosses some aren't but for me the best weapon layout is: Shots: Roundabout and Crackshot Super art: Super Beam for Cuphead/Mugman, Ghostly Barrage for Ms.Chalice Charm: 2 hit point (unless I use the genie then smoke dash) and Astral cookie if I want to play as Chalice.
spread and charge are (in my opinion) the two best shots in the game because they have the highest dps potential. For s-ranking, DPS is really important, and aiming isn’t usually a problem in cuphead, so that makes them the best for me. Also twist up is dogshit fight me
Really disagree with MS chalice super 2's placement, while on regular it isnt The most useful, it sometimes feels necessary on expert and specially on S ranks
Only one problem with crackshot(I did the entire game with it), technically two. This is my favorite weapon by the way One is that it targets, not homes so fast things might avoid it(don't fight Blind Specter with it), like the lone Yankee Yipper on expert But my main issue was that it has trouble on hitting minions directly above or behind you. Croaks flies on expert, Beppi's balloon dogs, Devil's minions(only case on under you because I would land on them a lot for the hand trick), Mortimer's Popsicles, the Animal Crackers, and ESPECIALLY those stupid expert jellybeans. I ended up having to lift my character's arm to the sky so it would scatter everywhere. Crackshot does wonders on Glumstone and Moonshine Mob though
@@Deadshade yeah, that would help. There just some instances where you don’t have time to lock on(expert Mortimer Freeze is on crack). But Crackshot is still an S tier weapon to me, and almost always my go to in fights
8:30 Buddy. Twist up is not good for Bon Bon. In my twist up only challenge I literally had to move the difficulty down to just so I could beat her. I can't believe I'm saying this but I would prefer the uncharged charge more
I think the whetstone is really good since it kills stuff, if you use it on the bag the puppets throw in phase two of Glumstone the giant, the phase becomes a joke, same with phase 1, 2, and the coins on phase 3 against ribby and croaks, if ya ask me, id give it an S tier because its so broken, i was originally gonna say A tier because it only can be used on the first parry, but then i realized that fights with about 1 or 2 attacks can barley even be called that with it, like all 9 bosses on the king dice board, and the angel and demon, it even works in plane levels, cause its a charm
@@clintonanderson7436 It allows you to parry any enemy plus it does above average damage to the enemy and it's a 1 shot kill on enemys in run and gun levels apart mini bosses
@@abhikergaming7783 ik all that. I asked that question because they're phrasing and what they mentioned implies that any projectile can be affected by whetstone.
Converge is hella underrated, when used right (shotgun lock mode) it has the highest DPS in cuphead. And can obliterate some phases like the phantom specter. Though I get it is hard to use in shotgun mode, you just have to be super precise with it and your dodging
i use it on the ice wizard first and last phase, it's pretty good for clearing the ice minions and the last phase has a large enough hit box to hit most of the bullets
@@thestateofyum6991same here! It’s what got me through s-ranking mortimer freeze within the time limit, killed his first phase super fast! People gotta stop sleeping on converge lol
I guess, it’s kinda useful in the last phase. But, for the other 2, idk other shots are better. Edit:Actually, idk since I never tried twist up with that boss. But it might not be that good of a option
I’m someone who rebinded my controls for Converge, and personally I think people sleep on it. When you get good at locking and hitting your shots, the damage begins to add up FAST. It feels like a shotgun with sniper range once you master locking, and I usually pair it with Roundabout/Crack Cocaine when I need to focus more on platforming
By a technical standpoint yes technically the charge charge shot deals the most damage but if you were to take 10 seconds or around two charged shots to the conversion conversion shot then you would get more DPS from the converge for a higher bullet outtake so technically yes the charge shot gives the most damage per singular bolt but converge deals the most damage overall
Interesting! I've been using Converge with good effect on some of the bosses, switching away from Rebound but I didn't appreciate how good Rebound's damage was!! Interesting mechanic for Converge is that you can keep the 3 bolts converged if you hold your aim while you jump, so you can still kinda move
I couldn’t be more upset about lobber being in B while twist up being in S. Btw, I totally respect your opinion, I’m just gonna go on a tirade here of why I disagree so strongly. Lobber is better than you think. Particularly when paired with roundabout, it becomes one of the most versatile weapons in the game. It has a lot more range than you think and can also just be used as a really good up-close tank weapon. It’s also really good for pre-loading damage before a boss phase begins. Twist up is just… such a chore. Sure you can get successful hits with it if you learn how to aim with it, but what’s the point? It doesn’t even have a tanky a DPS. It certainly doesn’t belong in the same tier as roundabout.
The thing is, it looked like he only ranked twist up an S tier weapon based on player skill, which I personally don't think is an objective measurement you can use to determine how good something is or is not. This makes judging these sorts of things tricky at best, since the mileage you get out of it depends heavily on a variety of factors, such as how good you are at the game and how much you've practiced with it to improve your own skills, thus making this type of thing something that I believe can't be measured objectively when you have to take someone's skill into account
A thing abt the chaser is that in some cases it will have the highest dps because ALL of the shots will hit even when the bosses is flying around or at a weird angle. Obviously extremely situational but it is a solid secondary for a lot of bosses
Yes, I use whetstone (before the dlc), Some bosses rush at you and whetstone is a quick way for a save and a bit of extra damage, yes it is situational but it works when you have the chance
Allow me to present you with a question. If twist-up is the same as Roundabout damage-wise, but is harder to use, why would you not just use the easier version that yields similar to identical results but in a way easier way?
Because he's extremely biased and exaggerates the fact that the weapon is usable, while also ranking it above other, much better options, both damage and versatility wise
I can't help but think that every argument used for twist-up could be used for lobber -- both have tricky arcs and some situations where they're better than others.
I agree with most things you say in this list. The only things I would rank higher is super art 2 for mrs challice. The shield pal can give you a extra hit point and not to mention you can use it as much as you want. Mrs chalice has a fantastic super art 2 and 3 and I would put super art 2 for mrs challice in S tier. And I would rank her first super art lower as well with cupheads last super art. I also think the twist up is a ok weapon.
The whetstone is uselful for situations like avoiding Mortimer's eye or the Devil's third phase Also you (kind of) forgot the divine relic, which is just everything combined
@@beatboxingleprechaun9676 It's good on run and gun levels(i'm talking about whetstone) it's good on flying bosses aswell and the potato in the root pack gang

I’m surprised you didn’t rank shield pal higher, you literally can have 6 or more hits in a battle, it make hp ranks way easier, it lasts until you get hit, it allows you to take risks without needing to worry about taking too many hits, and it makes later parts easier, since that is when you need the hits most!
Technically you can have 10. You cant have Twin heart and Ms Chalice but if you get one more HP from king dice and Dijmis 3 free HP, on regular, you can get 10 HP
spread for cagney's final phase is probably the best weapon, if you get close to the edge of the last platform and duck the bullets he shoots won't hit you, therefore you only need to watch out for the vines
I personally would agree with everything except maybe put chaser at c. It's not bad, but personally I just can't use it. But it's still good. And twist-up is actually really good. I beat rumor honeybottoms during the phase 3 transition with it.
Lobber has some great set-up potential if you saturate the bosses phase spawn locations with bunching shots and then combo it with a super or ex shots. That's how I always beat Beppi. When he goes to phase 4, fire as many lobs straight up, then use 4 spread ex shots right on his face. He's always dead before the 3rd train.
@@nothingheregoaway5280 I will gladly post an S-Rank of the fight with no charms and only converge if you would like. I firmly believe converge absolutely breaks the whole fight.
Tip: you can use the crackshot ex with chalice to get very good mobility. This isn’t very important in casual play, but in challenges it can be invaluable.
Some tips for lobber: 1. you can set up damage traps. jump shoot up multiple times where the boss will be next, you can do the same with EX's 2. you can double, triple, quadruple, and even sextuple the damage of the EX art by firing the explosion radius at the edge of the bosses valence hitbox, it's easier than it sounds. 3. shoot forward upward to double damage of basic shots, most effective at long range.
4:33 Well, not really, it's true that the Charge weapon it has a really high damage, but it doesn't has the title of being the weapon with most damage per second in the game, since the one that has that title is the Spread weapon, since the amount of projectiles that are shooted with each shot and his really rapid fire rate means that though it has a shorter range, is way more damaging than the Charge weapon, so... Yeah, the Charge weapon is good but if you want to defeat the bosses at the shortest time, the Spread weapon would be better for this...
I think its really interesting seeing ur opinion. I personally think twist up is ok but good to know it can be a good shot in the right hands, i might use it a little more now.
7:54 personally, I don’t think twist-up is terrible but probably the second worst weapon in the game (not counting uncharged shot). So it’s idea is that it shoots in arc but shoots 3 at a time. However this means that even if the enemy is above you, you still have to get all 3 shots in like spread to do the most damage. This means that they have to be above you or at a specific angle or it would probably be better to use spread, you also have to stay there for all shots to go on. It’s definitely not a bad weapon but I would say C or B tier. Also lobber deserves a lot worse than C. It is hard to aim for almost every enemy and even then can’t really be aimed and doesn’t do enough damage to make it worth it.
8:55 Bruh, that weapon is really bad since it has a really mediocre damage, only 2 damage pts. above the Peashooter, but the Peashooter did what was asked of him, the Twist-up was going to where he liked. The only good thing about this weapon is his EX shot, that is the one that has the maximum damage on the game: 48 damage pts.
twist up should be A tier. 1. its harder to aim. 2. you have to stand still to aim it. 3. it is just a worse roundabout and spreadshot. 4. like spreadshot it is only good damage if all the shots hit, which is troublesome (1. and 2.). 5. most of the bosses are better dealt with either roundabout or spreadshot. 6. many of the bosses mentioned twist up is "good" at it is only for 1 or 2 phases. it isnt supposed to be versatile, thats the whole point.
@@austinbusumbru123the amount of practice isn’t worth the results you get. You’re better off using charge since the practice put into that will give you much better results
Although I do agree that twist up is good for some scenarios there's always a better weapon for literally every scenario crackshot is literally better for 99% of the bosses you mentioned
Oh and something else about the Roundabout, it's the only weapon that can shoot off screen and come back. I know people know this but they dont know it's the ONLY one. EDIT: Your reasoning on Twist Up is bad. I've been playing Cuphead since it's first came out, I've done so many challenges and 300% the game, got all achievements and more! Not to hate, but the fact that you HAVE to aim is bad. The point of different weapons is to have the best for each Boss. That means most damage, most versatile, and a just the easiest for you.. More than half of the bosses you named, I came up with a better weapon for those. I'll admit it's good if you know how to use it, but its not effective for more than 80% of all bosses. 14:53
I personally use the spread shot and crack shot the most because these two weapons really compliment each other For certain situations Whenever there's a opportunity I would use the spread Plus the EX move deals huge damage
The uncharged charge shot was actually useful to me in salt baker's second phase. For the pepper shakers, it only takes a full charge and then one uncharged again after. For me it was easier to charge, tap the button again, then target the next one. Its gotten me through that phase quicker and easier than any other weapon in the game
@DarkCoreX try using it and see how it is really good. I beat about 3/4 of game bosses with it. including Dlc. the weapon is accurate like every weapon u need to aim it like every weapon. again twist up does same gmd as round-a-bout. I'm gonna use the same argument as Potato king did. learn to aim with it. ur bad at aiming.

@@OrangeNOrange i fully agree that roundabout is better, i always have it in my equip slot no matter what, but sometimes i need a break from it and using twist up is a fun easy way of doing that. since most of the bosses are fairly easy i choose to use twist up in them just to switch it up a bit.
Goated list, but I would disagree on the placement of the charge shot. While in the video It splitted them up between charged and uncharged, I find It more logical to rank them as a whole, and while the uncharged version is pretty terrible, it is actually better than the charged one at taking out minions, as you don't have to wait for it to charge. As a whole, I would easily put chargeshot at S.
I will love to give my opinion on twist up. It’s decent. It’s very situational to use since it shoots upwards and you have to angle it in a very awkward way to hit some bosses. It may not be that hard, but it can be extremely hard to try to do while dodging attacks. You are way better off using Roundabout to help save yourself from pointless aiming. The only thing I guess I can give twist up is that it’s ex does good damage.
Play the level "Perilous Pier"

Chaser and Chalice heart special saved me

Twist up argument rebuttal nobody asked for: (This is not slander I'm just going to say this to make a point)
[Aim diagonally] Aiming diagonally requires the RB control, which pauses Cuphead.
The roundabout is much more useful in more situations (Like the Chef S. phase 2.)
[It's not very situational, you have to aim better, and you can use it for many bosses] Well most of the time you have to get up close to get all the twisters to hit, at this point just use spread.
“Spread shot needs all 4 shots to hit so it’s not that great”
“Twist-up is good when all 3 twisters hit”
what the fuck. be consistent man
Skill issue
I disagree with his view on Roundabout. He argues that you can stack major damage on the boss, but it’s no different if you stood there and fired up close. As your fire rate is always the same so it creates no difference. At least to me.
But I would still rank it highly though.
yes
@@BobMcBurger1 Yeah but standing up close isn't as good because you need to play a lot better so you don't hit, but that really just depends on the boss.
Yea cuz you need to get up close and personal for spread
Good point
Spread EX is amazing for background bosses that stand still like Root Pack phase 3, Beppi phase 4, etc. Since you can get inside their hitbox without taking damage, you can easily land all 8 shots, as well as the main Spread being able to instantly hit all its shots if you're standing right in them means you can easily build up a ton of damage.
Spread is like a shotgun. Useful for close range and large enemies, useless at longer range
ok
Yes.
So basically:
Phase 3 Root Pack
Phase 3 Goopy (if you are good)
Phase 4 Beppi
Phase 3 Werner
King Dice
Phase 2/3/4 Devil
Phase 1 Chef Saltbaker
Ikr it does the most damage out of all of the shots
@@Viper57582if you gotta dodge an attack tho then you lose the charge and you gotta use it more sparingly since it can’t hit through enemies (i think) and you gotta make extra sure you can hit it while staying out of damage/putting yourself in a bad spot
@@Thing_of_somes it can’t hit through enemies like the converge but can you name other ones and I pretty sure I use it in good places like 2nd stage chef saltbaker
@@Viper57582 yeah but the thing with other shots is that they are rapid fire so they can hit enemies while still keeping their dps basically the same
@@Thing_of_somes converge all three shots dps is the same not any rapid fire
Here’s the thing about lobber, it’s not really for normal uses, utility is basically a must for it and knowing specific tricks and knowledge about the projectile itself. For example: When a boss is about to pop up on screen, (Beppis phase 4 transition and root packs phase 2 transition) Stand where they will be and shoot directly up. The lobbers will keep bouncing and hit the boss for a lot of early damage. It’s called a lobber trap and it’s essential for speedrunning.
Lobber in my opinion is great
Great on bootleg boogie because the higher you are, the more the bounce.
I call it 'charging the shot', since it is essentially what you are able to do when the enemy isn't present. Full charge would then be the maximum number of projectiles possible.
Roundabout has the same feature as well.
Also lobber is perfect for moonshine mob because you can shoot down through the bridge
Lobber EX has the highest damage in the game, I S-ranked the devil with Charge, Lobber, Super 3, And Cookie.
If i wanted to use an ex (1st and second phase), I would quickly switch to lobber, use an ex, then switch back to charge.

@@tvcya2097 the thing is chalice can technically have infinite hp if you just keep parrying

Does it work with spread too?
@@kathrynkeesecker5905 it does if you're willing to sac range for concistency and raw DPS
Whetstone isn't completely useless. I don't use it to attack non-background bosses, but it's helpful if your getting sandwiched and your only exit route will land you on a minion, so use Whetstone and get to safety. Ironic that the only damage dealing charm is more useful for defensive reasons.
I only beat Khal's Robot because of whetstone. It's amazing against robot phase.
I personally use Whetstone in the plane fights after using my super on the boss... it gives me some invincibility for me to use it safely and to get a little extra damage in on the boss. The extra damage is not much but I always find it satisfying when I pull it off.

I had this bosa idea for a while it takes insparation for ribby and croaks final phase with the slot machine in a plane mimicing the player's shots (I mean the shot types)
Peashooter: Aim at the player and charge shoots 4 smaller shots when charging
Chaser: One giant Chaser Star following a loop in the arena while it shoots and orbits Chaser Stars
Spread: Constantly tries to go at the player when timer is done mimics the Ex Ability
Roundabout: A Buzzsaw will aim forthe center and when the saw reaches the end of the screen tries to go back to the original position while rotating clockwise or counter clockwise
Lobber: Shoots 4 lobber balls in 4 directions then charges at the player when the main ball hits a wall it spawns a new lobber ball to bounce in a random direction
Charge: Shoots 3 uncharged shots in 4 directions then a charged shot aims for the player's position
Crackshot: A P. Turret will orbit in position shooting cracked shots ocassionaly shooting crackshots above and below
Converge: Shoots a laser in 8 directions the main laser will travel in one direction like the laser to try and get close to the player
Twist Up: Summons a tornado in a random postion slowly going outwards
Exploder: Explodes in a random position then fires 3 shots targeting the player
Arc: Bounces along the floor and in 3-5 jumps it will spawn mini green stars that in both directions that will jump in the direction they're spawned
In my opinion, super 2 (chalice) is really good! Because of crackshot you only need to Focus on dodging, not damage. Super 2 (chalice) really helps with that. And plus, twin heart lowers your damage, and some bosses don’t have enough parry’s for heart ring to be useful.

It does deserve it, its a good weapon

@@Cyberfox237 I’ve beaten the game 200% dlc 100% and I can say with certainty that twist up is useless

Some weapons are good for most bosses some aren't but for me the best weapon layout is:
Shots: Roundabout and Crackshot
Super art: Super Beam for Cuphead/Mugman, Ghostly Barrage for Ms.Chalice
Charm: 2 hit point (unless I use the genie then smoke dash) and Astral cookie if I want to play as Chalice.
I disagree with like everything you say honestly, but it’s really cool to see how differently other people play the game than I do. Very good video!
As long as u dont disagree with roundaboit
Why?(didn't play the game, but still)
spread and charge are (in my opinion) the two best shots in the game because they have the highest dps potential. For s-ranking, DPS is really important, and aiming isn’t usually a problem in cuphead, so that makes them the best for me. Also twist up is dogshit fight me
@@dylhouse259 nah you're opinions are just nonfightable
Really disagree with MS chalice super 2's placement, while on regular it isnt The most useful, it sometimes feels necessary on expert and specially on S ranks
Literally that’s the only super I use
thats what im saying
Agreed, the Super was done dirty :(
Only one problem with crackshot(I did the entire game with it), technically two. This is my favorite weapon by the way
One is that it targets, not homes so fast things might avoid it(don't fight Blind Specter with it), like the lone Yankee Yipper on expert
But my main issue was that it has trouble on hitting minions directly above or behind you.
In fact, i think that is good, at least crackshot dont destroy chaser
Well point the crackshot with lock then it will more likely shoot there
@@Capivaragamer0907 you got a good point. If it was a true homing shot, or perfect with minions, chaser would literally have no use.
@@Deadshade yeah, that would help. There just some instances where you don’t have time to lock on(expert Mortimer Freeze is on crack).

You are hella underated my man , can't wait to see more of your content in future
Do you think whetstone allows you to parry anything?
Yeah it's also good in the run and gun levels and the devil 2 and 3 phase plus mni bosses
@@clintonanderson7436 It allows you to parry any enemy plus it does above average damage to the enemy and it's a 1 shot kill on enemys in run and gun levels apart mini bosses

Maybe it's because twist-up doesn't work for him
Sorry I'm a little dumb about twist up
But yo 14 likes tho? Thank you may God bless you
19:06 actually 4 charms because it adds coffee charm too
Really well made video. Definitely gonna stick around to see what you make next.
By a technical standpoint yes technically the charge charge shot deals the most damage but if you were to take 10 seconds or around two charged shots to the conversion conversion shot then you would get more DPS from the converge for a higher bullet outtake so technically yes the charge shot gives the most damage per singular bolt but converge deals the most damage overall
the converge shot is insanely helpful if you go behind king dice's hand with the piercing and stuff

Twist should just be an A tier
close your mouth sir
roundabout should be d tier imo, whetstone and charge in s.
I agree it and spread are good Melee attack
A thing abt the chaser is that in some cases it will have the highest dps because ALL of the shots will hit even when the bosses is flying around or at a weird angle. Obviously extremely situational but it is a solid secondary for a lot of bosses
Yes, I use whetstone (before the dlc), Some bosses rush at you and whetstone is a quick way for a save and a bit of extra damage, yes it is situational but it works when you have the chance
The charge shot is good for 3 reasons
1. Super high damage
2. Pretty viable against almost every boss in the game
3. It looks cool
based
Charge is easily the best weapon in the game
Very true
At least somone said the truth

@@kirstybaird4194 I wouldn't say great. I would probably say "good" or "decent". It's pretty good for some fights but only for SOME fights.
@@beatboxingleprechaun9676 It can be great. Super 1, for example, locks you out of using your regular projectile (can't shoot both at same time). With super 2 on cuphead or mugman, you can wetstone a boss on super and shoot projectiles at same time,, doing massive damage.
Great video! I agree with everything but lober. I'd put it in A tier since it's also useful against non-platform bosses
I managed to beat every achievement earlier this week. I was sent into a depressive fit and.extreme outrage trying to get the 9 hearts. Crackshot EX shots with the heart ring saved me big time.

10:04 That's controversial. If boss spams minions at you, it's the best bet, because they will die on contact with bullets, NOT YOU
spread for cagney's final phase is probably the best weapon, if you get close to the edge of the last platform and duck the bullets he shoots won't hit you, therefore you only need to watch out for the vines
I use the peashooter for that phase
I personally would agree with everything except maybe put chaser at c. It's not bad, but personally I just can't use it. But it's still good. And twist-up is actually really good. I beat rumor honeybottoms during the phase 3 transition with it.
Lobber has some great set-up potential if you saturate the bosses phase spawn locations with bunching shots and then combo it with a super or ex shots. That's how I always beat Beppi. When he goes to phase 4, fire as many lobs straight up, then use 4 spread ex shots right on his face. He's always dead before the 3rd train.
The locked on converge is actually the highest damage output in the game

Seriously? Even higher than the spreadshot?
Tip: you can use the crackshot ex with chalice to get very good mobility. This isn’t very important in casual play, but in challenges it can be invaluable.
Some tips for lobber:
1. you can set up damage traps.
jump shoot up multiple times where the boss will be next, you can do the same with EX's
2. you can double, triple, quadruple, and even sextuple the damage of the EX art by firing the explosion radius at the edge of the bosses valence hitbox, it's easier than it sounds.
3. shoot forward upward to double damage of basic shots, most effective at long range.
The converge shot is good for the first phase of the phantom express the only tricky part is keeping an eye of theses pumpkins.
I love the roundabout. I just hate the charge, it takes 3 seconds to deal 41 damage, I would rather use spread. Spread is INCREDIBLE😮
still... 3 seconds per 41 damage is quite alot

@@henischick yes it is, go back to bed, child

I’m using it more to, it’s working cool. So I agree with you 👍
7:54 personally, I don’t think twist-up is terrible but probably the second worst weapon in the game (not counting uncharged shot).
Yeah it is no where near s tier
Just aim it right lobber anyway i did the entire game with it

twist up should be A tier.
1. its harder to aim.
2. you have to stand still to aim it.
3. it is just a worse roundabout and spreadshot.
4. like spreadshot it is only good damage if all the shots hit, which is troublesome (1. and 2.).
5. most of the bosses are better dealt with either roundabout or spreadshot.
6. many of the bosses mentioned twist up is "good" at it is only for 1 or 2 phases.
it isnt supposed to be versatile, thats the whole point.

nah, twist up sucks.
Twist up isn't awful by any means but it is certainly just a worse version of roundabout.
