In the tabletop lore, the gift exchange at the start happened at a huge party, with the leader of the Capellan Confederation in attendance. He had noticed earlier that every dining plate at the party had the name of a Capellan planet engraved on it, and after the big announcement he went nuts, gathering up all the plates and screaming incoherently.
High Chancellor Liao, emperor of the Capellan Confederation was also invited. It was at that moment he stopped grabbing food for his plate and started breaking dishes and screaming.
Every single successor lord was invited. Steiner and Davion had their militaries ready and people in place to kick it off and keep things coordinated while they went flying back home. The others didn't.
@@tennoskoom2233 He did not break the dishes, the dishes had names of important worlds for every state but in his paranoia he thought that Hanse Davion was mocking him with the plates and that they were the names of the worlds that were going to be attacked so he started grabbing them saying it was important information.
I like that game. First, you have your father killed and your forces crushed, you slowly building your own PMC, and now you at full-fledged fucking war. What a game.
@@larslaufer301 There's 2 SLDF Royal Griffins in the Steiner throne room, Julian Davion 'accidentally' knocked them over once... then left a Marauder 2 getting humped by a Zeus in their place. Wait. This is the actual quote? It's not a joke? HE ACTUALLY SAID THAT HER WEDDING GIFT IS THE REAMING OF THE CAPELLANS?! SCIENCE INSANITY CHANNEL WAS NOT JOKING ABOUT THAT!?!?
You'll find quite a few things happen in the Battletech Universe that seem crazy to say but actually did happen. Yes Hanse Davion had plates with different star systems on them. He did declare the CapCon as his gift to his new wife. Their Chancellor, who was a tad insane already, damn near broke down from the stress of this news. Grabbing at plates and screaming how they are military intelligence. Comstar, the phone company that was running this party on Terra, kept trying to calm him down as would any wedding coordinator. Then one of the Military Intelligence operatives for the CapCon, who was secretly working FOR Davion at the time as a double agent, merely toasted to Hanse silently, swigged down the drink, then crushed the glass with his robotic hand. Yes the man was a cyborg. Also during this wedding, a highly revered Mercenary leader snuck some swords from his dead friend to the party, threw them down at the feet of the Draconis Combine's leader and cursed him out. Then flipped duces at him, said for the guy to watch his back, and peaced out. It was a very interesting wedding party, with the typical drama one would have at such a shindig don't ya think?
Don't forget that the mercenary leader delivered his threat in perfect Japanese, despite being raised with English (or the 31st century form thereof) as his first language
By the time of the 4th Succession War, which this trailer describes the start of, the Great Houses had battered each other to the point that they had no Warships left, and were having trouble building and maintaining smaller combat vessels. Also, the Federated Suns had attacked Tikonov at least twice prior to the 4th Succession War, and destroyed most of Tikonov's space defenses. They did still have 3 combat Dropships and 70 aerospace fighters to defend the planet in space.
All warships were destroyed during the first and second succession wars along with the capability to maintain and build them even if they did find one floating in space it was not affordable to maintain it it was better to have countless battlemech that can be built and maintained sure they had fighters and such but even then it would be wastful to use on big targets that are to heavily defended
I don't think planetary genocide was their goal this far into the succession wars, they want to keep as many civilians alive as is convenient, maybe during the first succession war planetary genocide was a goal.
@@spaghetti3944 Not a goal... but not a real problem either. Although what they fail to consider apparently is that the Tikonov defenders should be able to crank out quite a bit more defenders than they can import attackers. The whole premise is rather flawed.
