And after the Third Succession War ended, there immediately ensued a Forth. Never underestimate Humanity's insatiable appetite to possess. That, and the instinctual desire to kick the Capellans right in their Capellas with 100 tonnes of steel and anger.
I've been wondering, why do we hate the capellans?
@@mergins1958 They're like dollar value Kurita, without the slavery plus extra communism. That, and the Capellans hate fun.
@@mergins1958 If you look at their history, you'll end up hating Capellans just as much as everyone else.

@@mergins1958 Look up the Aries Accords on Sarna and watch the marvel of Capellans deciding that it doesn't apply to them. (or their enemy of the time.) It is a typical example. Also worth looking at is 'Company Store Trap' (or something like it) for something done to mercenaries all too often that sounds right up their alley.
Endless war is an awesome track. Perfectly captures the atmosphere of a desperate and destructive conflict.
Let me tell ya. This DLC had me scrambling to keep my mechs up and running and carefully picking what to use when
Heard it's super easy if you use an endgame character, but I feel like that takes away from the experience. The desperation they were trying to portray felt very real when I naturally encountered the dlc on a fresh character.
Shame the UI only lets you have 12 mechs at a time. Should have been 18 or more. Frankly the whole game seems rushed and poorly thought out, thank goodness for mods that fix most of it.
dude I was constantly swapping mechs in between repairs and just selling broken mechs and weapons so that I could have four of the fuckers on any mission. hardest by far was the invasion of tikonov. seeing the cataphract for the first time is terrifying.
& all that just so some Davion prince can put the D in a Steiner B word! : D
(Tho slaughtering Capellans certainly helped alleviate the pain.)
Okay. So. One way I found that was somewhat easy to get through this dlc. Theres a method with selling any mech that's been battled damaged and just striaght up buying a new one.
Dying empire is hands down my favorite track.
I love Wandering Darkness, it's eerie and reminds me a little of Red Faction Guerrilla's and Gears Of War 4's shadowy themes. The Last Patrol sounds like a bit of a throwback to Mechwarrior 4, cool stuff. An Unforeseen Future and Dying Empire are wicked.

They're all equally bad and good.
Capella stands for some of the best values in Chinese, Roman, but also in French and American ideals: equality before the law, progress through effort, the common good, and sacrifice for the many.
Steiner, Davion, Kurita... they all offer Honor and Strength in some way, and they all fail in the same devious, hypocritical ways. The true issue with Battletech's universe lies with the Star League, for once they chose One Ruler, they destroyed Humanity.

Man... the DLC made me adore the Capellans and immediately want to support them. Davion and Steiner playing HOIV with peoples lives to fix some mapgore!
An Unforeseen Future is a track I think about often and lament its absence from Spotify
Carved in Stone is easily the best track on here.

Do you know what the main screen of the Russian-speaking 'Mech jockey says? Does it say something like "Overheated"?

@@D_zot That's okay, I'm glad you came through. Which 'Mech was this Russian-speaking ex-MechWarrior piloting? Could it be a Cyclops?
My guess is that the "Danger" message refers to how that 'Mech overheated and shut down, rendering the 'Mech and the Russian-speaking ex-MechWarrior a sitting duck.
@@Mazryonh I think it's clan cockpit, "Timber Wolf", "Ebon Jaguar", or something. Thus, I think that the clansman.
At the same time, I think that the message "danger" speaks about the condition of the mech, rather than about its overheating "the mech is destroyed, but the systems are still working."
@@D_zot I don't think that the MechWarrior missing a head at 8:02 is a Clansman. Clansmen generally do not have marriage and family ties like real-life people do, so why would he have a picture of what's likely to be his wife and child?

does anyone know the name of the melody from the first cutscene of the campaign? Before the attack on the planet Tikhonov. I've heard this melody before, but I can't find it anywhere, it's not in the official soundtracks
I believe it's called monolith. It's from the Hero's of the Inner Sphere soundtrack.
The Last Patrol has me wishing more composers/producers used kalimbas more often. I mean, if it works for Akira…

The DLC was trash, but you gotta give credit to their music department.
In hindsite I really like the new biomes and mission types but yeah as a community we were hoping for a different type of DLC at the time in general.
