26 liter isnt bad, can build a decent rig into that as James showed. The white one is quite pretty. nice to get away from the fish tank cases for a change !
Sliding the cables between the psu and front panel is a TIP I haven’t seen for this case after watching a few videos, so thank you for that! Waiting for this case to arrive and I’m going to try fit my matx build into it. Only thing I’m worried about is my current Psu isn’t modular so probably gonna end up switching that out but I’ll still try 😂 great video as always !
@@Necromancerbob-zp7us One thing Gear Seekers mentioned in their review was that the top radiator mounts weren't removable which would allow you to install the PSU before an AIO and if you needed to do anything with an AIO or radiator you would be able to just pull it from the top instead of having to fully uninstall the PSU to even get to it. He did mention that it might have been done in order to maintain rigidity for the chassis, plus you can kind of do that with the side mount.
I was impressed by this case when I saw it a few days ago, so I went ahead and ordered it. I didn't go for the glass panel because of thermal issues that I didn't want to deal with. Anyway, I used an ITX motherboard with a 360mm AIO mounted on the side panel. I set the fans as intake because I wanted the radiator cooled by cool air, not the warm air inside the case. Also, side mounting the AIO makes it easier for me to access the connections on the motherboard. I have fat fingers! =) I installed an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU. Since I used an ITX motherboard, the GPU sat high up and I was able to install a couple of 120mm Noctua intake fans on the bottom grill. With this configuration, I was able to install a 120mm intake fan on the back, and a couple of 120mm exhaust fans on the top. As for cable management, I didn't have any problems routing the fan cables where the power cable extension was. I could have put a third 120mm on the bottom, but I used that space to house the cables. Everything was neatly tucked under the side mounted PSU, which I placed on the highest setting. I am a happy camper. =)
This is genuinely impressive, I really wish it was available a couple years back when I built my current PC. Hard to justify changing out a computer case even if it's affordable lol.
Same here! I COULD "transplant" my mATX system that I currently have in an O11 Air mini (which, mind you, is not THAT mini), but I really don't think that I will (or should)... though the size reduction is quite significant...🤔
it would be easy for them or a third party to make front plates for this to add that functionality or just change the look I already have my build in it and doesn't seem to be a big issue though
I did the jump to MATX a couple years ago. I already had a case with a compact horizontal footprint (but tall, like a building), and last year I got a "cube" case with a internal layout that I consider ideal. The motherboard is in the horizontal, with the PSU below it. The whole thing is about a 30cm/1ft in all dimensions. No more "compact" anything for me, since the only limitation is that the GPU must be up to 30cm in length, but that only exclude really top end overclocked cards, or smaller ones with oversized cooling (looking at you, RTX4060 bigger than a 4080...). Besides the GPU length limitation, it also don't support liquid cooling, but as a firm believer in air cooling, that don't affect me, since it can accommodate big air coolers. It is also super easy to work with, since all panels are removable and there is no component getting squashed into each other. And the cherry on top is: no more GPU sag for me.
All the a3 reviews seem to go into detail about psu mounting but never mention the psu offset for mounting onto the ssd bracket. Handy for sfx psu with short wires
@@DonVilla-zg5st I mounted mine on the side too, as I used a itx mobo and it was the only way to fit it. After buying the case I realised the offset only works on atx psu’s
Great job, but the same observation for the lack of front vents so that a > 1000 W source draws air from the outside, not from the inside (special in GAMES). Perhaps the Lian Li smart collaborator Der Bauer should also have been consulted... The version with WOOD is also very beautiful.
It reminds me a bit of the Jonsbo i100 Pro, which is a nearly identical size but seems to have been planned for more of a sandwich layout using AIO. I'm curious about the A3 though, if you put in a 3-slot/60mm thick GPU is there enough space at the bottom to install 15mm thick fans like the Arctic Slim line? If you had 3x120mm at the bottom and 3x120mm at the top with a big air cooler on the CPU (NH-D15 or Peerless Assassin) then you'd have a fairly small, really solid air-cooled system even if you used the glass side panel.
It's a great case but for some reason there are no high end mATX AM5 motherboards in sight... There's one B650E from Biostar (and impossible to buy just about anywhere) and Asus X670E Gene that is both outrageously expensive and also discontinued - it's the only mATX motherboard that comes with USB4. I really, really hope new AM5 chipsets will improve this situation... allegedly all X870 motherboards will have USB4 as standard. Lets see how many mATX board will we get this time...
possibility for a dual rad custom loop, especially with some of the thinner radiators available now. hopefully someone does a custom loop in this case soon, would be stoked to see it!
I actually don't understand why position 2 for the PSU is "reducing" my GPU max length since in the video the GPU clearly goes below the PSU in position 2 anyway. Trying to figure this out
Now cases require 3 slots minimum for the GPU, they may as well add another slot for mATX support, barely needing to change the dimensions of the case. Would normally say that boards with the x16 slot as the second slot down are a bad idea for SFF builds, as it means that the GPU is starved of air up against the bottom of the case where the PSU usually sits. In this case it was a really good idea, being close to the ventilated case bottom.
Very toight! I see that the tempered glass side panel is an accessory to be purchased separately. Newegg has the case and they have the panel, but the panel isn't addable or even "people also bought this" from the case page - You have to go find it with your own searching skills. It costs $18 for the panel. I really like this case at $70. I just kinda like it at $88. Wish we had more footage of the complete build with the mesh panel on.
got mine the day of release! still trying to figure out how to cable manage the inside. rocking a full PSU with a 360mm AIO. pointers would be appreciated 😅

What makes this Lian Li A3 stand out is PSU SIDE-MOUNT! Why? Cuz now it may fit 2(!) 360 AIO. Or an AIO for CPU, then vertically mount a super long graphics (not too thick tho). Just my idea, never done by myself cuz I’m not a fan of AIO. Welcome to share your thoughts (or builds)!

The PSU placement just irks me. Not that it's in the front of the case, but that the rear of the PSU doesn't exhaust directly out of the case top, bottom, or side even.
The side fans won't make a difference if you're using an AIO instead of TF cooler like the Big Shuriken 3. I wish they did a full ATX version that also support bottom fans and had a better looking front panel. Sure they can a offer an optional glass panel for anyone willing to sacrifice performance for the looks. That would be my dream case.
What about side fans as exhaust, aio fans as intake, and rear fan as intake? That way cool air for aio from the top (not ideal for rising hot air), cool air for GPU from bottom, and exhaust hot air from air and GPU out the side.
I think if they just have enough space for atleast 0.5 or 1 inches space on the back for us to just do the cables instead of encircling around in front of the case for more cable management thats only the problem for me if u had non modular psu im sure ur cable on this thing is a mess

I dont think its a big issue, it gets some airflow from the graphics card with pass though type coolers and also help from the top fans/top AIO to exhaust heat.
I would like to see a long term review of this case, very curious about dust buildup since it has no intake fan at all, I can only assume it would be very bad.
In our test system the intake was coming from the GPU fans as they are just about touching the flor of the case. with some slimmer graphics cards and motherboards that utilise the very top PCIe slot cut-out you will be able to install floor fans, the floor has a dust filter.
