I remembered taking the Civil Service Test .. and taken it a second time to score higher than applying for many Federal Jobs back in the early - mid 90's. I never got called.. I applied for a Federal job at a GS-4 level and was hired .. but found out it was only a Temp position and they could renew you every year .. however there was no benefits - no increase in Grade etc.. I took it and after one year I , along with my group of 10 temps didn't get offer to become permanent ..I was keeping on applying for other fed agencies during the entire year .. then after 13 months of trying I got a call from a hiring manager at another agencies and got hired permanently starting at GS-4.. that position only went up to a GS -6. I left that agency and made it to a GS-7 .. took another position in another agency that went up to a GS-12... with my military buy back time and fed service I can retire now.. but will wait until. I reach age 62 as I am under FERS and need the COLA every year.

@@zy8900 interview was pretty simple, ask what experience and skills I have to bring to the company and why I'm a good candidate,I guess the tricky part coulbe be if u had to explain what would u do in a certain situation that u haven't been in before

I just applied for a GS-7 position. Before I submitted the application for the position, I previewed the questions before starting the application and towards the end it asked some questions I didn't really know much about. So I at first did not apply. Then the next day I received an email from a family member who is a GS-13 that works in another agency, showing me the same exact position I felt I was not qualified for, and this family member suggested something that I did not think of which is something I kind of do outside of work that might help me qualify for the position, so I sent my resume to the family member, he helped me tweak it and he feels I might get referred for the position. The announcement closes today, so I will see what happens soon.

Human Resources sound pretty stupid if they don't know how to translate terms, verbage and or words on a resume! 😬😏
