    I miss my marine tanks so much! We had 3 main tanks, 2 reefs and a predator set up (125, 150, 180 gallons) and a few smaller tanks (20's, 50, and 75 gals) with captive bred seahorses plus their suitable tank mates. It can become very addictive. You just want more and more fish and that means more and more tanks and eventually running out of room. We were very fortunate to be able to grow corals and different types of seaweeds to trade so we could keep the cost down somewhat. I had a beautiful Porcupine Puffer the kids named ET (Extra-Terrestrial) because that's what his face reminded them of. They look like they're always smiling. lol They truly are the sweetest and act like aquatic puppies that want love and attention. I can't eat fish anymore because of him and the other beauties we were so fortunate to be able to care for. I don't know what it was about those marine fish, but many of them had very distinct personalities and they gave me a whole different perspective on aquatic life. Even the seahorses were tame and would hitch on my finger and take food from me. We also carefully played around with some of the so called "strict rules". I had a Ocellaris Clownfish in with my pair of seahorses (cross of Hippocampus kuda and erectus), a rescued pair of Banded Pipefish, and what we called the dynamic duo...a Yellow Watchmen Goby and his buddy, a Randalls Pistol Shrimp. They say you shouldn't put fast movers in with the horses and pipes that hunt in slow motion, but Benny the Clown lived with them for over a year and was very gentle and never stole their food. I have to say I adored that diverse seahorse set up and could watch them for hours. Of all of them though it's ET that I miss most of all. He was just so smart, sweet-natured, and full of personality. He loved when the kids would sit by the tank and read to him. He'd just happily hover in front of them and it seemed as though he was listening to every word. He was everyone's favourite for sure. Sorry for the length of this comment. Got a tad nostalgic. lol

    Your tank is quite a vision. I have read that these fish require a minimum of 150 - 200 gallons as they grow 8"-18" and need at least 24" of tank width to turn around... How big is your tank? We will be purchasing one of these cuties for our 150 gallon as a single species..

    How long did it take for Milo to start eating when you got him? We just got a porcupine three weeks ago and he has zero interest in anything I add to the tank. He's very skittish. I have even added small crabs to appeal to his natural diet. I have seen him suck in a few crabs and spit them out, but I have yet seen him consume anything. He is very active all day, Up and down the glass (like Milo). He seems to be healthy. Maybe he's eating at night? Any insight?

    • @TommysReefGallery
      @TommysReefGallery  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I got Milo when he was 2-3 inches just a baby he love live ghost shrimp so I would throw 5 dozen or so in their so he always had a snack. Also he was eating silver sides. He ate a couple chromos so I got him off live food and silversides and moved him to frozen shrimp from store peeled raw not cooked also oysters/clams on half she'll an frozen mysis cubes reef plankton cubes he Milo rejects some off the food sometimes because he's in the mood for something else..try the live ghost shrimp LOTS of them so he has no choice but to eat them because there are so many. Let me know how it works

    Can you put 2 of Porcupine Puffer together

    • @TommysReefGallery
      @TommysReefGallery  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen plenty who have successfully the problem is without dna test you cant tell the sex of the puffer so 2 males might fight or 2 females so it's a risk not knowing the sex. But when they're babies it's much easier if they're raised together
