What I found amazing is the behaviour of the partner of the trapped porcupine.... it stays next to him, very close to him all the time, despite the potential danger of being caught... it is, completely quiet and relaxed, showing no sign of stress..... it just stay there to share the fate of its buddy, until the end..... for me that's just amazing, and proving that fishes are sensitive and intelligent animals, just like mammals...

This is so touching. It's important to understand the emotions of animals and not to assume that because animals do not have our intelligence that they do not have feelings. Good for this man for freeing this beautiful creature!
Pretty Puppy Ya people should really be more aware on how trash like plastic effects the environment i see so many 20 century people always casually tossing their garbage on the street and its mind boggling how they don't care.
BEST THING I have seen all year. Kudos to you guys for freeing the poor fish! And using one piece of litter (the broken bottle) to counter another (the old net) was brilliant."Ghost fishing" (lost nets that still catch fish) is a serious problem for the oceans.
A truly precious video of a one fish caring about another, and, thank you to the human, for your compassion! Was the fish okay? He seemed to be listing as he swam away.
Good on you for saving them. I hate it when fishermen leave their line and net behind it really ruins it for the fish and the people trying to fish for them.
That is so amazing that you guys helped that poor porcupine fish. If he would have stayed there without help, he would have most likely died. Great job! And that other little porcupine fish was trying to help! How cute is that?! Again you guys, well done! :)
i am a rescue shelter for the GSP's of Walmart. I've had over 300 rehabbed and rehomed, and i have stopped puffer sales in the SF Bay Area. I just released a puffer from the hospital tank after 3 months recovery from an injury to one of the 10 Communes in the adoption shelter. I usually keep rescue groups together, but his injury kept him behind. I placed him in 2 random tanks, where he was not welcome. The 3rd they obviously recognized each other. They acted exactly like puppy's at the park He greeted them so happily. It makes it that much harder knowing they suffer grief, as well as pain, in Walmart
+Tony Wang (iAquariums) Absolutely...they feel pain too, and we unfortunately kill them by the trillions. Check out this animal kill counter. Marine Life is at the top: www.adaptt.org/killcounter.html
its sad that we have to change our conditioned beliefs (those that rendered fish practically plants, due to lack of actual knowledge, of course its easier to think they dont feel or are intelligent cos its also easier to exploit them then), through retched nets being thrown into water, but still, thankfully they were saved in time by an actually compassionate human. thats a rarity in this world, so thank you!
Wonderful human being! If we would take the time to observe we would learn that ALL species of living creatures have emotions & empathy - Each & every life form is deserving of respect & kindness!
we humans kill thousands of fishes n animals every day, but these kind of kindness to save one small fish make us happy, may god bless u buddy, thank u so much... n tat second fish really showed so much of concern.. never expected tat from a fish... wowww
This is beyond amazing! I've never seen such beautiful fish eyes. I'm only worried about the wounds the strings attached to its mouth could do. You can clearly see it struggles with the mouth open when the man pulls and cuts one of the strings.
Diodontidae are the most great buddy from all salt water fish . This fish is very easy to tame and it recognizes you and celebrates you like a dog when you see it. They are very intelligent , sociable with his fellows ,faithful for life to their "lovers" like many fish and it's the female who dominates like in practically all the animal kingdom except ; humans the slightly stupid animal that stands out because it knows how to break everything and build things that are useless or that destroy everything around on the planet where everyone lives.
Good job guys! Way to use that old glass as the tool of salvation as well! I got scared the concerned puffer might get too close but you handled the glass-knife with great impromptu skill! I Hope you took that whole nasty net out of the water with you :) And that the glass bottle-bottom ends up on your coffee table or something for years of conversation to come!
What camera was used? Nice to see the snorkeler risking being cut with the broken bottle (and stepping on the abundant urchins in this area) to rescue the trapped fish.
+Niet Machine Sorry for your loss of the camera. I'm an Olymous Tough TG-4 user for underwater photos/videos. It's more versatile than the action cams but larger and heavier.
+Niet Machine Great job capturing puffer behaviour and loyalty and the good deed of the snorkeler. I frequently snorkel and dive in the Philippines and too often find discarded nets. I see porcupine puffers only once in a while but I frequently find dogface puffers. Turtles and puffers are my good luck charms when diving.
+Hesham El-Adly was the second couple of porcupines we saved that week. think it's almost mating season. Never seen turtles sadly, but just started diving 3 weeks ago. I hope I get lucky soon :)
If was just a male fish waiting by so after she gets rescued he would say "see... I was there the whole time until my pals rescued you..." now when can we mate???"
thank you for saving this lovely couple

I think the trapped fish is a female and the other is a male trying to pull the moves on her 😂 But I could be wrong.
I was thinking the same too how it stayed together no matter what 🤭☺️

That’s right!
at least to the trapped female. The smaller one was a male that just wanted to nut since they're otherwise a solitary species
Thank you for saving this lovely creature! Thank goodness your guys were there. Ghost nets are such a huge problem in our oceans

lol

Marvelous video of your compassion, patience and consideration. Sweet depiction of the partner fish's loyalty. Amazing.
+Nicky Skye We don't know that the other fish was its partner. They might just be besties (or something like that)
So adorable. His friend is waiting for him. Damn human who left the net there. Be careful with the broken bottle too.
this is so cute :) the puffers were so calm they didnt bite you back haha i guess they knew you were helping them.
