I beg to differ on the Box Fish not winning any swimming contest. I lived on Okinawa in the 80's and caught all my aquarium fish out of the ocean, up until I had stumbled upon a beautiful yellow polka dotted Box Fish like yours the hardest fish I had ever caught was Moorish Idol's. That little Box Fish wore my ass out, he was surprisingly fast for having such small fins, but I did get him, I tricked him into swimming into a bundle of dead Staghorn Coral which I netted and brought to the surface. I can't speak to the longevity of the little guy as I gave him to a friend with a much larger tank and don't recall him mentioning it after that.
I have owned a yellow boxfish for 3 months now and i have had no issues. it has never harmed my corals. It will take brine shrimp from my gorgonians. he shares a tank with two clowns, a flame hawk and a starry eyed blenny. great video.

I’m a little confused, you say this fish can grow to be a foot long. But you also said the one in this video is 2 years old despite appearing to only be a couple inches long.
I have a box fish that I just rehomed as it was killing any fish I would put in the 300 gal tank. It killed a couple of clown fish, a tang, a rasp, and a few others I can’t remember the names right now and it was only about 3-5 inches long and those fish disappeared in like a week and anything it could not eat like big pieces of bone were buried. I have just never heard of box fish being that aggressive so I thought other fish were killing fish they jumped out of tank as box fish can’t swim well and in the end it was alone in smaller tank with just him and he would let me pet the top of his head when hand feeding but he is happy living with bigger box fish now so I am happy. Anyone know why he is a serial cannibal killer fish?

What are you feeding Pablo and what are you using to hold the food?
He usually just eats whatever I throw in there :)
Didn’t Scott’s tank get nuked by a cow fish like a week ago
If it were the toxins everything would have died instantly, where as the fish died one at a time.
He had another cow fish die in the main tank which didn't cause any effect
Prestige Reef it’s been 3 weeks I completely forgot they got ick/velvet i think anyways I guess that killed them.....oh btw would you mix a longhorn cow and a box fish in a 260g I’m considering both as the first fish besides my foxface.
KyleTheAquariumGuy no reason they shouldn’t get on :) Id like one myself
Can you have multiple in a tank? and can they die from eachothers toxins?
My box fish died in my nano tank and killed my clowns as well. Went to bed with all 3 alive. Woke up and they were all dead.
Yes i Need it a box fish!
lol I felt the same way
