Sure looked fun! Suzuki did an amazing job with their new lineup so far and this one is no exception. Also Suzuki are the only ones who seem to understand that we don't need 140ps+/25k+ bikes all the time.
Agreed. It's becoming more and more difficult to find a new mid sized bike for under 20k.
Fully agree!!
I agree as well, but I don't like parallel twins
@@Frank-xo7zjmost parallel twin nowadays has 270 degree crank setup, so it will mimic the original vtwin setup character. plus lighter and have lower center gravity.
I need. Even 1000 are not enough
Every corner entry is just, gorgeous to listen to and watch. The gentle chirp of the rear, the whirling hiss of the brakes as they clamp down, the straight cut gears whining as they spin down, giving a slight chatter at each shift; Its a god damn symphony of mechanics.
Excelent video.
Thanks, Ella!
Best advice bike value for money and quality - riders not bad either😂
that and the peg scrapes
Rear chirp, wat that mean
This video and shifting made me buy my 800de ! loving it.
nice!
I got the RE 2024 version. I love it.
Skill right there! Thanks for the ride along and yes, it sounds amazing for stock!
Thanks for the comment!
You have incredible skills & your abilities to hustle is most impressive 👌⭐️
Always a pleasure!
Thanks!
Your videos are awesome man
Glad you like them!
Schaaf gonna love the 800RE, looking forward to that one!
Probably!
Beautiful riding skills. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you too!
That quickshifter's Buttery Smooth
indeed!
I just picked up this bike last Friday. I can relate to his feelings riding it.
It's crazy how capable these adv bikes are. No wonder I kinda want one even though I really need a sport tourer.
Indeed they are! I think speed wise I'm just as quick with an ADV as with any other bike. For me it's only the relative lack of feedback due to long suspension travel and seating position that makes riding fast feel a bit, well, adventurous :D
Love your videos. Suggestion: add a little segment where you drive with quick shifter off
Noted!
Really was looking forward to this one. Was not disappointed👏
Hm, based on one of your comments it sounded like you prefered Transalps engine over the Suzuki? Because of top end? And how would you compare this new Suzuki's parellel twin to the thrusty old 650 v twin (found in v strom/sv)? Thanks!
yes, the Transalp engine simply provides more fun. Well, the new engine feels quite a bit more powerful and also smoother. But also of course the old V engine offers a bit more character
Wonderful road and a great video, just like always. As seen, it is clear that they did a great job. I rode the new Transalp that is available on my channel, but never this one. Anyway I would love to try it. Keep going mate. We all like your videos.
thanks mate!
@@Schaaf You are welcome.
Amazing ride as always! What road/pass in lower Austria is It? Thanks
Super sound... Nice Suzi....
Thanks for listening
I can hear a screeching sound ond downshifts with the quick shifter. AWESOME!!!😊 A Black widow end can would sound nice on that!!!
Estupendo video. Da la impresión de que Suzuki se está poniendo las pilas de nuevo. Como se aprecia en el video, parece que tiene un motor que empuja bastante bien 👌✨
Gracias
I have the 2023 regular Vstrom 1050 with Akrapovic and it is great. I like to push it and it performs with all its parts, brakes, gears, engine do their job great.
Nice!
Nice ride!! :)
Thanks
Finally 👌🏻
Thanks
like from India , these raw sound videos are the best bro... can you do triumph bonville..
Thanks man. I unfortunately don't get to choose the bikes I get to ride
What are you touching down on such a tall bike? Center stand? Bike sounds great.
First, I'm a big fan of your style of review... I appreciate you cutting through the non-sense, and sparing us from you reciting the spec. sheet. I can look that up myself. Much appreciated!
You ride so many different bikes, I tend to give your opinion considerable credibility. I'm currently shopping for a middle-class adventure bike, and I'm torn between two choices... The logical choice is this V-Strom 800DE... The soulful choice is the Moto Guzzi V85TT. You've said some rather flattering things about the V85. I do a fair bit of off-road riding, although no extreme hill climbs on the bigger bikes. I save those for my dual sport. This would be primarily a road tourer, with times where it was asked to do intermediate off-roading... In my region of North America, the V85, and the 800DE are nearly identical in price. As one of the few reviewers who has reviewed both bikes, where do you land? Which would you pick to put in your garage, hypothetically?
I've never heard of Moto Guzzi, what an absolutely stunning bike! I honestly can't blame you! I'm still getting my life together before my first motorcycle, but I'm cheering for you!
I had the V85TT for 2 months and I changed for the 800DE. The Suzuki is more suited to my size (I'm 6.10 ft). The Guzzi is an amazing bike but for me the engine isn't as smooth as the 800DE at low rpm and I wanted a more capable offroad bike. And of course, the reliability of the Suzuki is way better than the V85TT. But if you're interested, you should test ride it. It's still a good bike overall ! 😀
I couldnt decide between V85TT, Vstrom 800 and Tuareg 660, after long thinking and research i picked tuareg because i wanted more offroad bike, guzzi just looked more like cruiser/touring bike because its heavier and bigger. Suzuki sits somewhere between guzzi and aprilia.
It's hard for me to make comparative statements since my rides with the V85 happened years ago. But still I'm pretty sure one could say that the V-Strom is better in almost every aspect. It's faster, has more capable suspension, has the right geometry for offroading too, and yea, it's very likely to be more reliable. The Guzzi might have the better wind protection and maybe also better brakes. But with these I'm not sure since it's been so long. Still, I'd take the Guzzi. I simply adore the air cooled Guzzi engines. To me personally, character is almost always more important than performance.
Yeah, brilliant videos. I just agree. :)
Hey Schaaf ! Hope you're doing well !
I've spent hours on your channel and you always, always put a smile on my face.
I'm thinking of moving. Which European country is the best for riders ?
Thanks! Italy
Cooles Video, schönes Bike und Wetter. Was will man mehr!?
Gute Frage ;)
Nice video as always ! What's ur thoughts on this Vstrom vs the 790 adventure ? Overall and onboard fun not speaking of price. And did you get the chance to test the "new" 2023 790 adventure ?
I couldn't ride the current 790. Only a 22 model. The KTM sure can be ridden harder but it's also quite a bit less comfortable. When looking at what I want from an ADV bike, I'd feel better on the Suzuki for sure
Beatifull bike strong engine
Thanks
Love u for this content!
Estimated the bike to have a quick shifter? No DSG? Cheers.
QS
Guter Stil, gute Linie👍
Dank dir
Thank you for a fantastic ride along 👍🏻 So many bike reviews are such a snooze fest cuz they’re put puttin through town stuck behind traffic.
Thanks mate
Looks like Suzuki did a good job!
Indeed!
Hi, great video as always.. love your riding..btw original exhaust?
Yes, it is
@@Schaaf 👌
Hello Schaaf! Superb as always! Just one question: How would you compere the 800 to the Honda Transalp?
Read both of my reviews and you'll know :)
@@Schaaf thanks for responding! Cant wait to see you try the SE version!
Hi, you prefer vstrom 800 se or Transalp 750??
Do you have trouble with the QS 1st-> 2nd at high rev ? (7000+)
Great as always!Would be nice to test the CF Moto 800 mt.The bike looks very nice!Regards!
Thanks! Unfortunately th-cam.com/video/A_lVU5NGIUY/w-d-xo.html
Nice, do I hear the rear tire when downshifting? Tire will not last long 😂😂 but the quickshifter seems toe work perfect, better than my GS fur shure… impressed with the Suzuki.
Yes and yes
Hey Schaaf, Suzuki looks amazing on this video. I think about buying Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE or Tiger 900 Rally Pro for next season. I am more street/touring biker, but would like to try gentle offroad as well, or just have an ability to do it easily in the future. Do you have any suggestions or opinion on comparison between those two bikes?
Both will do that very well, you can follow your own preferences :)
Do someone know please the name of this road in Austria? Thanks
Sounds like the quickshifter locks the rear tire a little when it downshifts. I hear skids every time you downshift.
Bom vídeo obrigado meu amigo aqui Brasil 🇧🇷
Obrigado
Hi schaaf , amazing video as always. Was eager to see this one as it was sitting in my to watch later list for quite some time. Absorved every second, every gear shift and every turn for 2x in a row almost without blinking 😂 these really are a gem in youtube.
Can I ask you as a a novice which one you would recommend between this wee strom and the Honda Transalp? I'll do mainly asfalt if not always. Looking into something confortable and fun for the twisties that can handle luggage and a passenger.
Again, top notch video. Please do keep up
Thanks! I prefer the V-Strom. The engine is less exciting but everything else is better on the Suzuki
What mode were you in ?
The chirping from the tires when you were slowing down quickly. Is that from the quick shifter?
It's from the rear tire that spins slightly slower than the front under hard braking
Is it comfortable to cruise at 120 km/h without tucking? Hows the windblast around those speeds?
The headlight is terrible and the windblast is pretty bad.
What tyres on this one ?
When shifting down, give the throttle a quick and precise twist to slightly increase the engine speed. This matches the engine speed to the lower gear that you're switching into, resulting in a smoother transition.
You're embarrassing yourself big-time. You're trying to teach me while not knowing what a blipper does. Geezus. I'd love to have your self-confidence...
Bro you really think he doesn't know how to rev match? Watch his other videos.
This bike has a bi-directional quickshifter, thats why he isnt doing that here

I think the vstrom 800 (non-DE, sometimes RE or SE depending on country) will surprise also with the ride quality and capability if the bike. 19 inch cast front wheel and some changes to make it more suited to road riding. I must say hearing it like this sounds much better than it does on the bike, sadly it's too quiet for the rider IMO.
The underwhelming sound indeed is its biggest drawback. Which lets you realize how great it is!
Please try the Aprilia Tuareg 660!!!
unfortunately th-cam.com/video/A_lVU5NGIUY/w-d-xo.html
How's the vibrations on the handlebar and footpegs? And does the engine get hot? (like the old k2 1000..) Am riding a '16 africa twin
No issues at all
😎😎
Thanks
That was good IMHO, since DE stands for dual explorer. Would the road biased 800 RE performs better you think?
On the road probably yes
Interesting @@Schaaf
羡慕你能这样骑车
OK
Is that your rear tire we hear squeak when you drop a gear each time?
not each time but some times
klingt gut ............. satt , und bequem isse auch ...denk ich
Auf jeden Fall!
I gladly take more midrange/torque focused engine over a top-end focused engine for a street/adventure/touring bike like this.. I plan to upgrade the exhaust/airbox/ECU - Some have seen 10+ bhp & torque gains with tuning.. Excellent power gains from 4-8500rpm
can't tell all from the sounds but that engine seems buttery smooth, the GSX8R is gonna do well
It absolutely is
It's a great bike! Just don't accidentally turn the ignition to the parking light setting and leave your parking lights on for half the day like I did lol! Got lucky and didn't kill the battery though.
Hehehe good to know ;)
@4:31 there's normal riders and there's Schaaf :)) Ok ok the guy was slow even for me. I am curios if you get to test the RE version, with 19 front, less suspension travel, better front brakes and so on and see how that one feels.
I hope I can ride one next season!
The autoblipper sounds so superior to any other in the adv sector. Period.
Thanks
Hi Schaaf! I will write in English as all the comments here and also your subs are in English.
I bought a V-Strom 800 (RE) about 1,5 month ago. I love the comfy suspension, handling and brakes of the bike but as far as gearbox and quickshifter are concerned, I'm not that satisfied. Shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd into 3rd gear is quite clunky and noisy most of the times (I'm speaking of shifting without the QS now). From 1st into 2nd is only quiet and smooth when I shift very soon, bearly reving the engine in 1st gear (also einfach kurz Anfahren und dann den 2. Gang einlegen). The QS works really smooth only from 4th gear upwards and still not all the time.
I like to ride smooth and fluently so I don't apply much throttle and tend to upshift beween 4000-5000 rprm. Could this be the reason for not working that smoothly? Am I not giving it the paces enough?
For downshifting I use the clutch all the time because that way the downshifts are really smooth. The QS does its job but again the shifts are hard and rough - for my taste.
But in your video everything looks and sounds very nice and smooth, not at all harsh, loud or clunky.
I also own a Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 and its gearbox is much smoother, especially on upshifts. When I bought the V-Strom 800 I expected it to outshine the SM 650 in that regard but it actually didn't.
And I checked the chain slack on the side stand and sitting on the bike as well and it's not to tight.
I'm unfortunately no good with this kind of knowledge, I was never interested in learning how to DIY-work on bikes. Indeed for me the QS was working flawlessly but at the same time I've heard from a colleague of mine that the had exactly the same issues as described from you on the 8R. Seems there is a problem like that. But maybe it can be fixed since it could be electronics related
What is the fuel consumption per 100km ,test the road version suzuki 800 😁🖐️
no idea but it's not very thirsty for sure
is it the future? thx i dont want it where is the biker feeling with an automatic system? nothing clutch maybe a big scooter
Do you have a favourite motorcycle from all the test rides you had?
CB500 PC26
Great review.
Now you need to try the cast wheels version.
Cheers.
Next season maybe!
Why you said swap the engine with the one of the hornet?you find it better on road?also the wind protection is good?thats strange with so litle windscreen.and last, engine vibrations?ok or annoying?
electrical driven motorbikes has no vibs 🤣🤣
Because the Transalp engine is more exciting
i thought you liked vstrom more than transalp...ok.@@Schaaf
l heard about too much vibration.true?
Little late to the party, but one question: after my 2hour testride i had these pins n needles in my fingers, some weird, dizzy feeling.
Anybody else? What can one do to prevent this?
I fortunately didn't have any vibration issues. You can research if there's rubber damping for the bars
Can you try CF Moto 800Mt Explore? Thanks 😄
Unfortunately th-cam.com/video/A_lVU5NGIUY/w-d-xo.html
😀👍
Thanks
how does this new v strom compare to the honda transalp ?
for me much better, honda seems to me as wooden motorbike 😬😬
It's better in almost all aspects
@@Schaafwhich one is better?
Is that the new 80+hp engine from 8s?
Yes
I need one. Have you tried it with a passenger?
Yea, great fun
Compared to ktm 790 adv is this better? Prices are similar... My question is also related to road/offroad abilities. Thanks
I mean, prices are similar, but KTM still costs more and has less features as standard.
the 790 can be ridden a bit faster but it is less comfortable and for sure less reliable
@@Schaaf Thanks man.
@@Schaafwhich is less reliable?
Wow it goes fast even though 21 “ front
sure does!
V strom 650 or v strom 800 (Re)!? Which one are you choosing?
650 if I'm on a budget
We saw your face in the Ireland video, so why do you still blur the screen while looking at the camera from the mirror in your POV driving videos?
Bro we love you, don't hide yourself from us 💪💪😅
Think for two seconds and you'll understand why
Is the sound effect you use for the text from Fortnite? It sounds so familiar lol.
Dragging knee, pegs or both?
Pegs
V-Strom 800 oder V-Strom 1050 wenn der Preis keine Rolle spielt?
I just found your channel, I'm happy to find another silent rider doing POVs , BUT , BUT , you are filming in 4k 30 fps , people actually would rather watch in FHD 60fps , also the gopro has better EIS when you record in 60 fps even in 4k , so I would be very grateful if you upload in 60 fps for better experience , thank you
Ye, he sucks so hard in his job, that just 180k ppl enjoy watching him riding up and down same hill with various bikes... after adapting ur advise, same 180k ppl plus further 180k will carry him up and down same hill praising his greatness, evrika. 😅 👍
I don't really mind the same track, but 30 fps is just ...I can't watch in 30 fps my eyes are adapted to 60 fps and I watch a lot of driving/riding POVs and walking POVs because I don't have time in the day stuck in my job @@ronr6605
Thanks Ron.
Did you find the screen noisy?
Not really
Weird, I really didn't like the GSX-8S when I did a test drive on it. Anyway, most people seem to enjoy this new V-Strom.
I love both 8S and this
You dont use brakes to slow down at corners whats that wheel locking sound due to braking or agressive downshifts????
Wow, stock exhaust! My 800 DE does not sound like this at all. I find my engine is very rattly, doesn't sound good at all, certainly does not sound like an 800 but sounds more like a 250 to me.
Surprised how often footpegs scrape
Not that surprising on a V-Strom ;)
What i dont understand. Why does it need liter more fuel then most ather bikes in its category while having 10-20ps less...
No idea if that's actually true but I'd say it's not that big of a deal
Roue qui bloque au retrogradage et béquille qui frotte 🤔 . Cela dit , le moteur a l’air expressif 👍
merci
I always hate scraping footpegs, makes me flinch, which ain't what I want at max angle of dangle!

Its a shame this engine doesn't pop and crackle on decel like the mt07. Looks like it pulls well tho
Yea that would indeed be nice
some riders don't like to pop theirs bike like me. You can't go for 3000k trip and your bike be loud.
Am I missing something or does this bike really change gears on its own ? :0
Quickshifter ;)
Hard choice between this or the Yamaha T7
Would be quite easy for me. T7 for Offroad, Vstrom for road :D
@@Schaafyou must ride like a vagina off road if you are picking the T7 over the v-storm. The T7 is way more top heavy than the v-storm. (Assuming that you are in the 800de version)
