I got a 2019 Speed Twin. This summer I drove from Stuttgart Germany to Sardegna ITALY. It was a amazing Germany Adventure. I packed it fully with my Mosko Moto Reckless set. I think everybody would say it’s the wrong motorcycle for such a trip.. but I loved it.. after this trip I bought a brand new Africa twin Adventure Sport ERA DCT. It’s the best for Adventure bike I would say. And i can drive this much faster. But the Speed Twin it’s a amazing machine. I can recommend this for everybody, even for newer riders. Man, that brings back memories. Some of these scenes look like where i used to ride when i was stationed in Germany in the late 80's. The back roads east of Heidelberg around a little town called Neckargemund.
Love your style, dude. It's funny when I go into "touring" mode I actually feel so much faster (sitting bolt upright, not hanging off the bike, etc) it makes turns feel faster to me because I'm not so hard on the brakes into them. Great riding, @schaaf !

It's been a long time since we've seen it, and I don't remember seeing anything about you getting rid of it, so I hope she's doing well.
Watching videos like these I always wonder if riders like Schaaf aren't afraid that their front tire will just randomly slide out in a corner on some sand or pebbles or something. When I ride my bike, in every corner I'm scared that it will just slide out from under me. I admire the courage and confidence that riders such as Schaaf have 😅
It doesn't happen that fast, maybe u will have a little slip and wobble, if dont overact in that moment the bike will most likely catch it self. Dont hang on to tight and let the bike work.

I passed my test in early Jan and was looking for my first bike. I tried Triumph Speed Twin Triumph Bonneville T120 Kawasaki Z900 RS Ducati Scrambler 1100 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE In the end i bought the Speed Twin, so easy to ride and so happy to ride fast or slow. I forget how quick it is sometimes! I'm happy to ride slow but now and then you have to open up to overtake something and the Speed Twin does it without needing to drop a gear! It'll even easily accelerate in 6th gear! Love this bike and it's mass torque! Great bike!

Hi man, I just bought one a couple of months ago. I did find the rear suspension lacking, in less than favourable road surfaces. I fitted YSS shocks to the rear and now it feels planted rather 'pogoing', they also match the front Marzocchi front end well. Totally agree, the riding style is all about the delicious Torque. FYI...... I recently had to go to Bangkok, which was about 38*C and combined with the heat from the engine, it was unbearable, I couldn't hug the tank and had to ride with my legs apart. I had the CAT removed, which helped a bit with the heat....definitely the 'hottest bike' I've ever ridden.......Rubber side down bud

My neighbor got a RNineT lite. Same motor as the "normal" ones and little difference to the others. I've ridden it and my conclusion was: I prefer my Speed Twin. I like the position better (a little more sporty than the RNineT) which gives more feeling of the front. The motors are comparable performance wise, but I've felt a little more nervousness in the RNineT down low than the Speed Twin. Both are beautiful bikes but I liked the look of the Speed Twin better. in jet black she looks even more classic. Both are exceptional bikes and in the end the preferred look was the main key. And that's in everyone's own subjective eye.

Very interesting test and impressions about the bike. This bikes leave us a bitter taste after riding them because it compels to ride it faster but after 160kmh the power is gone. The end comes too soon. The lack of any wind protection also confirms that limited feeling. When I have ridden this bike on national roads it felt perfect. But once on the highway I quickly achieved its limits. These Bonneville family of Triumph, each one at their own way, are a lot attractive due to several aspects, not only for it but including the classic overall design and also for the technical modern features involved, like the actual 1200cc engine (high torque , liquid cooled) with its different mappings which is a winning bet from the manufacturers part.
besides that I do appreciate your RAW Onboard videos, why don't you turn on image stabilization like hypersmoothing... Pls do, so I won't get anymore headaches while watching your gorgeous clips! thx & bless you and your only one remaining kidney :)
You see where I live when you ride around the roads that look like this deer jump out of the trees right in front of you. Sometimes they run right into you. I used to rode my Sporster around the back roads in North East Wisconsin and The Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Had many close calls w/deer.
Looks like a generally excellent bike. I'm not too keen on the lack of suspension adjustability, but from your video (which are the god of motorcycling's verdict on how a bike handles) the setup seemed good, Schööfl.
the rear shocks are pre load adjustable - its just that the spring rate is so heavy that adjusting them to anywhere higher than the lowest setting seems pointless.
For a proper Triumph sound, you really need to go back to the days of cast iron heads and barrels and the very solid stainless steel pipes of yesteryear. The difference between that and this is chalk and cheese!
Never liked the sound of the old British twins with the 180 firing order,sound ok at higher speeds but like a tractor at low rpm,Vincent Engineer Phil Irving wrote a tech article in the early 60's about the benefits of a 90/270 style crank,smoother and more "drive" on acceleration, Triumph finally listened after 50 plus yrs
@@Schaaf Also have you noticed any excessive heat coming from the ST engine. Rumors about it is only thing that stops me from pulling the trigger on a Speedy.
Schaaf, there are a lot of videos showing you riding much more faster naked motorcycles than the speed twin. It looks heavy, hefty. Even the acceleration doesn't look appealing. Nevertheless, I think it’s a nice bike for relaxing riding, just to enjoy the exhaust sound while going to the café shop.
Schaaf has a special place in his heart for Triumphs and we couldn't be happier about it

These Bonneville family of Triumph, each one at their own way, are a lot attractive due to several aspects, not only for it but including the classic overall design and also for the technical modern features involved, like the actual 1200cc engine (high torque , liquid cooled) with its different mappings which is a winning bet from the manufacturers part.

I owned an R9T till I got the chance to try the speed twin. Now I'm a proud owner of that particular motorcycle and never looked back

You see where I live when you ride around the roads that look like this deer jump out of the trees right in front of you. Sometimes they run right into you. I used to rode my Sporster around the back roads in North East Wisconsin and The Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Had many close calls w/deer.

by far the Triumph. The Kawa is probably the better bike but its engine is way too smooth for a retro

Looks like a generally excellent bike. I'm not too keen on the lack of suspension adjustability, but from your video (which are the god of motorcycling's verdict on how a bike handles) the setup seemed good, Schööfl.
the rear shocks are pre load adjustable - its just that the spring rate is so heavy that adjusting them to anywhere higher than the lowest setting seems pointless.

For a proper Triumph sound, you really need to go back to the days of cast iron heads and barrels and the very solid stainless steel pipes of yesteryear. The difference between that and this is chalk and cheese!
Never liked the sound of the old British twins with the 180 firing order,sound ok at higher speeds but like a tractor at low rpm,Vincent Engineer Phil Irving wrote a tech article in the early 60's about the benefits of a 90/270 style crank,smoother and more "drive" on acceleration, Triumph finally listened after 50 plus yrs

@@Schaaf Also have you noticed any excessive heat coming from the ST engine. Rumors about it is only thing that stops me from pulling the trigger on a Speedy.

Schaaf, there are a lot of videos showing you riding much more faster naked motorcycles than the speed twin. It looks heavy, hefty. Even the acceleration doesn't look appealing. Nevertheless, I think it’s a nice bike for relaxing riding, just to enjoy the exhaust sound while going to the café shop.
