  • Cut open a PF-5000 and compared it to a prior cutaway of AC Delco TP1015. The K&N is supposed to be a premium fuel filter but it fell short on all of the measurements and left a few more questions left to the imagination.

    Just want to give a big thanks for all you're postings. They have certainly guided my choices as to what upgrades/manufacture to use. Truly saving time and money can't thank you enough. I do find the response from K&N a little to convenient..not being able to provide what is presumably the most important aspect of any part is the specs/performance. Despite the fast response, no data is a major issue for most.

    I change mine on my 6.6 Duramax between every 7k and 10k miles even though it is only slightly dark and nothing crazy. It's so cheap and easy to change on the 2022 that I mine as well do it to ensure longevity.

    I always use either car quest premium or a/c delco both great results no issues. I also run premium +4 fuel treatment. Very concentrated compared to most others on the market.

    Based on the owner manual that comes with the truck. You should run a fuel additive on every fill up unless you can find a gas station that offers “top tier fuel”. Which is very limited locations. I know, nobody reads the owner manual. I’m a dork.

    I noticed the Klick wrench doesn't sit all the way down on the fuel filter lug like the cheap socket did. Did you run into any slipping when using the Klick wrench? Thanks for the info. Love the channel!

      correct, it's important to make sure your ratchet is straight and it should have no issues of slipping off.

    In my opinion, Be careful if your truck is still under warranty. If there is a fuel system issue and they see an aftermarket fuel filter, are you sure they will honor the warranty? I was going to look into the FSS filter system and the dealer told me if I did that change, the warranty may not be honored. So I’m gonna wait until the I’m out of warranty.

      They have to honor warranty it’s the law !

      @@donmckenzie5027 well not if it’s a non original part. And even if it was, try arguing with them as your vehicle is in their garage on a rack for weeks as you try to argue with the corporation. Myself, I’ll play it safe until it’s all my responsibility.

    • @donmckenzie5027
      @donmckenzie5027 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I see what you’re saying but to not have a warranty covered the dealer would have to prove it was the non oem part that failed. I only use high end non oem parts on my 2023 1500 Denali diesel so I don’t worry about it. Included in the protections for reasonable use in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is the right for consumers to have the vehicle serviced at a business of their choice and the option to use aftermarket parts, meaning potentially money-saving alternatives to those that came on the car, while retaining the original warranty. The automaker is not allowed to void a warranty just because a nonfactory part is used.

      @hammer-r 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@donmckenzie5027 I understand what you’re saying and by the letter of the law it might be right. But I’ve had instances in the past with clear warranty work with no non oem parts and had to argue for a week and a half to get them to honor their warranty. So for me it’s not worth the possible fight. But everyone has the right to do what they want. I just voiced my opinion based on past experience. After the warranty, I’ll do what I feel is best but until then, it’s oem and done at the dealer. So there is no finger pointing if something should happen. Let’s hope these diesels run forever with no issues. That’s what I’m betting on. 😂😁😁.love the truck.

      I wasn't aware of this filter but that upper and lower portion looks identical to the K&N filter. Makes me think the K&N is a rebranded baldwin with different color orings. I searched the baldwin site and there is no info on that filter. Would love to cut open another but before I do, I would need to gather more data and look more into how I can test these filters better.

      weird, the pictures look like the K&N and not the acdelco. Is that the case in the one you saw? I don't mind ordering one but if it looks like the K&N, I likely will not keep it, that's a filter much more expensive than the acdelco that's tried and true to be a good one.@@bradensahlfeld687

    Looks like the OEM filter is wider, longer, and thicker. I changed mine on my LZ0 at 9,000 miles just to see what it looked like. It had a slightly darker tint than a new one but otherwise looked in great shape. Too bad K&N doesn’t give micron, flow, and water separation ratings. I’ll stick with OEM.

    Never been impressed with any KN filter. Air, fuel, oil etc. All way over priced. I bought out a whole bunch of filters from a place going out of business and a whole lot of them were in white plain boxes and I was informed they were the cheap filters they sold that the dealer had bought in bulk from china. ALL of these filters were reboxed KN filters. Every one.
