I think the hate mostly stems from having inferior quality all around. Without geely proton would probably bankrupt. Not to mention there's the debt too.

I've traveled through country back roads with the X70 on a weekend and experienced the emergency braking. I was driving up a hill then at the top there's an immediate stop in traffic. The emergency braking is too damn good, to be honest. I stopped at least like two to three feet away from the car in front. My brother said that the Chinese would often copy other products, but the best thing is that they'd often improve on it rather than just copying. Not saying Geely did the same, but Proton should learn from it. After all, they are re-badging the original SUV.
I hope you see my comment here proton. I want to say that if you widen the persona 2016 for the next preve, it gonna look really good. 2016 persona already look good except for bad proportion in few area

This is a testimony if local car manufacturers can build sharp looking car, people will buy it. Prototype semua lawa tapi the end product buruk benar. It takes a chinese company to transform proton while it takes a whole nation to build one

This car jerks around from mostly from gear one to gear 4 and it does the same randomly when it's down shifting. Features are nice but the gear box is not reliable so far.

Nik Mohd Rizwan Wan Ibrahim it's not a matter of market maturity, but more of how the tax/duty system is structured here. Every spec/variant's price has to be approved, so imagine doing that for say, 500 different spec combinations.

Nik Mohd Rizwan Wan Ibrahim no, for those brands each car is a custom order, so each one will go through the necessary price approvals. Even then, that's only like 1 or 2 cars per month. There are other ways to skirt this issue too, but only for low volume models.
nice autonomous braking, but the fact is that...the rear car won't have this...so, you will need to get your rear fixed. Obviously, you did not crash to the front or airbagged yourself, but won't know if the rear car would crashed into you and still cause you to crash to the front.
