    I have self converted this van. This van is my pride and joy, I have spent countless hours working on it, fixing and preparing every little detail for future travels!
    I plan on taking this van to Alaska as well as the rest of the west coast, Including down into Mexico on some surf safari's.

    Well thought out build, I like the fact you can use the counter for many different applications such as food preparation, cook top, table or added sleeping area. Nice work!

    I think yours is the first of the hundreds of van tour videos that I've seen a fire extinguisher... that's smart. Also, great design.

    • @canadiancarrier225
      @canadiancarrier225  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes! I have it for safety but also I put so much money and effort into the van that anything that can be quick insurance in the event of an incident is welcomed!

      KateInRealLife you might be missing something I've seen many so no way hundreds of videos. I watched some TH-camr yesterday who put his bathroom in the back of the van and it was pretty smart and right there next to the toilet was a fire extinguisher. There are too many people following the nomad travel rules on poo for them to forget extinguisher. We're dealing with how to heat and cool and control moisture along with cook and control fire and smoke so that's completely untrue. Too many families who care about their kids in skoolies aren't forgetting the mandatory extinguisher. There's no way a surfing millennial out thought a conscious Gen Xer or Boomer. Proud of him for way more than an extinguisher, he's a rock star for waking up early in life, proud of you too...👏👏👏

    I have an F350 (1998) with less than 78,000 miles on it. I camp with it sometimes, and use it as my "base camp" when I hunt. I REALLY NEED to improve on it as you have.....it gets COLD without insulated walls and ceiling, for sure!! GOOD job on your conversion work. Should totally do something with that bare cabinet side in the back, maybe throw a cutting board there with a drop down table like you said with the door. Just a friendly tip, unless your're planning on running a microwave or TV or something heavy amp drawing, don't upgrade your inverter. It will just draw more power, I've found anything more than 500w is pointless

      @@canadiancarrier225 Thanks! It's actually nice out today, so I'm working on framing and insulating the floor with Pink Panther 1.5" R-7.8. Shouldn't be too bad. Walls were already spray foamed, which is fun to work with. My quad will just barely fit at 48" wide with about 53/54" wheel wells, so cabinets and the bed will be tricky to build. I'll try to edit and upload some videos in the coming weeks.

    The key to doing truck bed liner on bumpers is to sand it with 400 grit paper, shoot it with some acid etch primer in rattle can, then bumper liner over that. 8 years and no flaking. I just shoot it once a year to keep it looking fresh and new.

    Great job. Make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector, not sure if you mentioned it in the video. If your batteries are AGM your OK with your current ventilation solution, but the vent should be below the batteries. The gases that may be produced will sink towards the bottom. Good luck on your travels.

    I love this conversion! I always appreciate a nice, simple, not so costly conversion. I do appreciate the more expensive brand new van conversions. But for me personally this simple DIY, very functional, neat, organized Van is more my taste. This probably cost what? $15-20K? Including the van. Only thing is I have to have some type of toilet and able to stand. Otherwise absolutely love it!

    Cool build. For your work station, you may want to look into a wireless keyboard and a portable laptop stand (like the roost: therooststand.com ) to sit on the countertop so you don't have to hunch over your computer. Could help save your posture in the future.

      Its nice most the time but trying to live in a super small space makes it really difficult!

      I read every reply to this video because something told me he was tall like me. I've not bought a van yet and height was something I was afraid would be a deal breaker. Now I see it can be done. THANKS!
