These guys do Vivaldi with style. This is my favorite performance of Concerto for 4, so powerful and full of life. Antonio Vivaldi would be smiling at this performance of one of his masterpiece works. One of, listen to me. All of his works are divine masterpieces. This is the way to be remembered, centuries after your passing, and your name is still spoken and revered for such genius work and the gifts you gave to humanity. I only wish the last part of his life hadn’t been so difficult with him dying in poverty in Vienna a year after Charles VI died. So unfortunate, but the lives of the world’s great geniuses were often difficult and tragic.

Wow. I dug out my score for this one. We all know creative ornament was not suggested but required-but how many ancient music “Academy”performances have we sat through with just a trill or two thrown in here or there? I don’t think I’ve ever heard a group playing this “go for it” the way these guys did-there are besides the obvious, many transpositions and cleaver syncopations posed and answered by all four just superbly! These guys actually worked together for some time (and practiced!) what is usually presented as a “throw away” standard baroque concerto “recitation” giving a true and most memorable actual Performance. Simply a delight! Thank you so much for the video!

1:50-2:03 is such a beautiful moment when A=415. The melancholy and the lower harmonics creates this absolutely gorgeous moment.
