Result = fat storing mode turned on.

💨Starch is a more complex carbohydrate made up of various glucose molecules and takes more time to break down, resulting in a relatively better insulin response. However, it does eventually break down into lots of glucose so intake of high starch foods has to be in moderation. For example, a palm sized serving per meal would be sufficient.

🥕Starchy carbohydrate foods include vegetables higher in starch such as carrots and potatoes, whole grains like quinoa, rice and wheat, and legumes such as beans and lentils.

Fiber is the most complex carbohydrate and is composed of non-glucose molecules like cellulose and pectin. Therefore eating fiber does not produce glucose, thus not promoting insulin secretion. Result = fat burning mode.

Using this knowledge, a healthy hormone breakfast, lunch and dinner looks like:
✔️Half a plate of vegetables (ideally at least 80% cooked for easier digestion),
    ✔️A source of protein, and
✔️A healthy source of starchy carbohydrates like a small amount of oats, potatoes, carrots, rice, quinoa, beans, or a slice of sourdough bread.

🤭Sounds weird to eat vegetables for breakfast? Many cultures traditionally ate vegetables at breakfast, and we have lost this wisdom. It’s time to bring it back!

❓️Are you eating veggies at breakfast? Thinking of giving it a go?
