For those wanting to make the most of notes calculations, I have figured out a few things that don't seem to be mentioned anywhere else. 1. Variables that use other variables don't refresh by default for example: test3 = test1 + test2 However you can add = at the end to force recalculation if test1 or test2 change test3 = test1 + test2 = (result) 2. Displaying a variable created from other variables doesn't refresh when the value changes for example the following will only be calculated the first time, not when test3 changes; test3 = (result) There are a few ways to force an update, you can do 0 + test3 = (result) this forces recalculation as it thinks it needs to recalculate the 0+ part or a nicer way would be: -- test3 = (result) this is just making a double negative resulting in the original value, but recalculates on test3 change 3. The apple website shows examples of converting to other currencies by doing: test3 to gbp = (result) test3 to eur = (result) but you can also convert to other types by using characters such as: d: days h: hours c: celsius for example: test3 d = (result) test3 h = (result) there are more so have a play around to find them 4. You can use mathematical functions for example: test3 = round (test1) + floor (test2) = (result) 5. You can make your notes much more tidy by using subheadings create a heading or subheading (I call mine calculations) Then format the line to Monostyled put all of your calculations and variables in there close the heading and use the calculated variables outside that hidden section This will give you a nice tidy note where you can list your results Just remember to use the tips 1 and 2 to ensure things are all updated correctly when changing a value 6. Variables don't support special characters so use camelCase to give them good names 7. An example if a working updating bills list: The following example should also have everything update when changing a value. Changing salary for example should update all values down to the totals using the tricks above ** INCOME ** Salary = £3000 ** OUTGOINGS ** CarFinance = £300 Mortgage = £800 Food = £200 ** CALCULATIONS ** (we can collapse this subheading to hide the calculations) Expenses = CarFinance + Mortgage + Food = (result) Disposable = Salary - Expenses = (result) OugoingPercentage = round(Expenses/(salary/100)) = (result) ** TOTALS ** Expenses = (result) Disposable = (result) OugoingPercentage = (result)% 8. That's it, would be nice if Apple could - release better documentation on the features and how they work - fix the bug of child variables not being updated without the = or -- tricks - integrate lists or tables to be arrays of variables so instead of: a=1 b=2 c=3 total = a + b + c .etc we could do: exampleValues = 1, 2, 3 total = sum(exampleValues ) or even: exampleValues : a = 1 b = 2 c = 4 total = sum(exampleValues ) this would enable things to be much neater and make the features here feel less half-baked
this is exceptional work you did, can you share this with the Apple chat group folks? I wouldnt want it to just get buried in a youtube comment section. Would be good for Apple to action these in future updates.

I'm curious as to why you think this. To me it's just redundant. Why not just create a calendar reminder? That's all I've ever done. So the use case for me I just can't see.
@@aj-1700 that reminder integration with the calendar was on iOS 17.6. I used it a few days ago to set up reminders every day and every 2 days so it's not new. It's really a good features though not gonna lie.
I seriously don’t understand Apple, they getting backward. Sending a file from iPad, some apps don’t appear in options, you sometimes have to click open file in…. Confusing, no translate button in some apps, Apple sucks now but I love their hardware it lasts
Good thing they have an option to exclude them too. Some of us have daily reminders for things like taking pills which make everything else unreadable.
As someone who has moved from Android to IOS recently, I am amused at the excitement towards the ‘latest’ IOS features that the Android has always had like since ever.
It’s not really such a big deal. Most people won’t even care. But one main difference over the androids and googles is security and privacy. So essentially it has a few more features the other phones have but with a better peace of mind.
@@eskieman3948 Moving can be because work force you onto IOS. That happened to me, I went with Apple for a few years after personally but got fed up with the constant password requests. This was my first time watching one of your videos and I'm blown away! Apple needs to hire you to create iOS feature summaries! I've been an iPhone user since the launch of the first one and with each new iOS release I've always pieced together how to use the best new features from a variety of sources - a true pain. Your video not only discusses the new features but shows how each works succinctly. Fantastic work! 😀👍
Great video but if we are getting so hyped up over new features on a phone, we're probably spending too much time on it and not living enough without it.
Love the customization, but they missed a HUGE opportunity to get rid of the stupid “home bar”, or at least get rid of the ugly opaque rectangle around it
Yeah ever since the iPhone X I’ve wanted this option! Once anybody’s used their iPhone for more than 2 minutes they don’t need to see that bar anymore.
Thanks for the video. Bless Apple's heart... Trying to add in customization features. Lol😅 Each year I watch videos like this to see if there is enough reason to go back to iPhone and each year I stay with Samsung which has far more customizable features which Android has sometimes had for years. I will check again next year.
Between telling Apple users 4gb was more than enough ram for years now all the sudden it's not enough. They have been behind the times for years. I use both so I can speak with experience. Sure my iphone is more polished and smooth on apps. But they are years behind . Rcs has been out for 4 years. And iphone refused to adopt it. Now they are forced to and have to catch up with the times.
@@mikecarr1484 No, encryption is not a part of the RCS standard. It’s something Google added on top of RCS. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Communication_Services#Encryption_support

No, No, No, our devices should not have the operation and functions changed without our clear knowledge and understanding. Essential security changes should not introduce unessential software changes. We should decide if we like the new software, in fact we should be able to choose every change in operation. Maybe changes are just adding complexity to create the impression of improvement, when we really cannot do anything we couldn't do before, and often cannot do as much. That forces us to hire apps to do what we used to do for free. With Apple's huge profits, we are neglected in the work we can now do without hiring apps.
@@massiveconstantine6924 Go into your photos, scroll right down to the bottom where it says customise and tap that. Then untick everything you don’t want showing as extra folders etc.
Fact check regarding RCS: you said "while still enjoying end-to-end encryption". Apple's implementation follows the RCS spec which does NOT include Google's proprietary encryption. RCS is NOT encrypted on iPhone.
Thank you for this, because some of the screenshots of it show a setup message that says end-to-end encryption *_IS_* supported with RCS, but the official Apple support page on RCS says that it *_IS NOT_* end-to-end encrypted, so whatever that screenshot is from, it isn’t from this current production implementation of Apple’s RCS support. It’s good you’re pointing this out so fewer people will have that confusion or misconception until it does support E2EE at some point in the future.
It’s important to note that while texting between iOS and android does not support end-to-end encryption, It does implement encryption in transit so it does not operate completely without encryption.
That's really interesting. I had an apple up until last year, and then switched over to Android again, but I go back and forth. RCS has been problematic because I'm constantly talking to people who have both. So I was excited about RCS coming to Apple, but that's a buzz kill to hear. I thought that Google invented RCS, and Apple was implementing it after a lot of negotiation, but it sounds like they neutered it and basically it's just going to be good for things like seeing when someone is typing, tapbacks, that kind of thing?
@@BlueRidgeCritter Apple didn't neuter anything. They implemented the public RCS specification standard. "Google added end-to-end encryption (not part of the RCS specifications) to their Messages client using the Signal Protocol starting in 2021." See RCS on wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Communication_Services
One feature that would be amazing would be some sort of audio router. Let us play music through our speaker, and let all other sounds (such as TH-cam, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.) be played out of your phone so you don't disrupt the music playing. This would be great if you're playing the music at a party, because currently if you're on music duty you can't do anything else that involves noise, otherwise it plays out of the speaker.

Also the graphics are great. I'm definitely going to watch more of your content especially the new Photos summary ... I'm already getting frustrated at the new layout!
Yes but every iOS 18 phone will show an empty hidden folder, so there’s no way to know if a specific phone has any hidden apps or not, and at the same time, it’s an obvious place to look for them if you forget how.
It was on purpose to discriminate Android users and pressure them to switch to iOS. Just like what he said when he was asked a question "Buy your mom an iphone."

If Face ID fails it’ll fall back to passcode. But if you don’t want your kids in your phone period, in your case you should just set up a passcode, and don’t use Face ID at all.

That’ll never happen. Blue message bubbles is a selling point, some people like the clout of having others know they have an iPhone. And on the flip side the green bubbles make those same people want to buy an iPhone.
One of my email accounts was involved in a data breach. I get an average of 40 to 50 spam emails every day on that address that they don’t catch, and it will probably get worse. So yeah, 205 could easily be just one day when that happens.
In the UK, we call the one that you put batteries in and point at dark areas a ‘torch’. We call the one that you set on fire a ‘torch’. While the might sound confusing, most of us have little need for the ‘set on fire’ variety, which goes a long way to alleviating that confusion.
That’s too easy. It’ll be an “amazing” change sometime in the future. First they are going to move the send button back over to the right, where it was for 12 years. Amazing!

test3 = (result)
There are a few ways to force an update, you can do
0 + test3 = (result)
this forces recalculation as it thinks it needs to recalculate the 0+ part
or a nicer way would be:
-- test3 = (result)
this is just making a double negative resulting in the original value, but recalculates on test3 change
3. The apple website shows examples of converting to other currencies by doing:
test3 to gbp = (result)
test3 to eur = (result)
but you can also convert to other types by using characters such as:
d: days
h: hours
c: celsius
for example:
test3 d = (result)
test3 h = (result)
there are more so have a play around to find them
4. You can use mathematical functions
for example:
test3 = round (test1) + floor (test2) = (result)
5. You can make your notes much more tidy by using subheadings
create a heading or subheading (I call mine calculations)
Then format the line to Monostyled
put all of your calculations and variables in there
close the heading and use the calculated variables outside that hidden section
This will give you a nice tidy note where you can list your results
Just remember to use the tips 1 and 2 to ensure things are all updated correctly when changing a value
6. Variables don't support special characters so use camelCase to give them good names
7. An example if a working updating bills list:
The following example should also have everything update when changing a value.
Changing salary for example should update all values down to the totals using the tricks above
** INCOME **
Salary = £3000
** OUTGOINGS **
CarFinance = £300
Mortgage = £800
Food = £200
** CALCULATIONS ** (we can collapse this subheading to hide the calculations)
Expenses = CarFinance + Mortgage + Food = (result)
Disposable = Salary - Expenses = (result)
OugoingPercentage = round(Expenses/(salary/100)) = (result)
** TOTALS **
Expenses = (result)
Disposable = (result)
OugoingPercentage = (result)%
8. That's it, would be nice if Apple could
- release better documentation on the features and how they work
- fix the bug of child variables not being updated without the = or -- tricks
- integrate lists or tables to be arrays of variables so instead of:
a=1
b=2
c=3
total = a + b + c .etc
we could do:
exampleValues = 1, 2, 3
total = sum(exampleValues )
or even:
exampleValues :
a = 1
b = 2
c = 4
total = sum(exampleValues )
this would enable things to be much neater and make the features here feel less half-baked
this is exceptional work you did, can you share this with the Apple chat group folks? I wouldnt want it to just get buried in a youtube comment section. Would be good for Apple to action these in future updates.
You have to be fucking joking, right??

reminders app integration with calendar is the best of ios 18
They could have done that years ago, but we’re being played like a banjo. 🤣

8:02 apple is not supporting end to end encryption yet for RCS messaging as they are only implementing the minimum requirements for the standard.
I don’t believe encryption is even part of the RCS standard. It’s an extension that Google added.
Noi encryption is standard . The fact iphone dragged it's feet so long they have catchup to play now to get years of innovation stuffed into one year.

Just to note, rcs on iOS does not support end to end encryption.
Of course not. There's no encryption standard for RCS. Google's encryption is a proprietary solution.
@@Invid72 hasn’t it always been that way though ?
@@jhartt5 Yes, that's why Google developed their solution. No idea why they didn't try to get it incorporated into the RCS standard though. Apple said they would implement the RCS standard so encryption will have to wait until an encryption standard is agreed upon.

Now I have the photo grid, then underneath just the menus that were there before, although the menus are slightly different the photos app isn’t ruined for me anymore.
how did u do that
No, No, No, our devices should not have the operation and functions changed without our clear knowledge and understanding.

"Google added end-to-end encryption (not part of the RCS specifications) to their Messages client using the Signal Protocol starting in 2021." Let us play music through our speaker, and let all other sounds (such as TH-cam, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.) be played out of your phone so you don't disrupt the music playing. This would be great if you're playing the music at a party, because currently if you're on music duty you can't do anything else that involves noise, otherwise it plays out of the speaker.
