Big flathead ? Yes that was the first thought when I saw the lake emptying and big predators congregating. Awesome spot. You are a great educator via example and tuition Rodger. Tight lines.
Really enjoyed this Roger, it looks like the east coast beach fishing is getting better and better every year. We really are very lucky to have such quality fighting and eating fish. Hope to bump into you one day and share a few of my tips.
has been a regular method on east coast for over fifty years to my knowledge. i have eaten plenty fresh over that period, they dont keep well frozen at all. tailor
Great video Roger. I have been having withdrawals for a week!! Many years ago we caught some tailor at Broken Head, went back to the caravan and cooked the fillets on the BBQ. Delicious. That lake entrance looked a top spot.
Hi Rog. Try putting two split shots 6inch above the hook. This will let the bait bounce and roll beautifully like a dead fish from one side of channel to the other in the current. Cheers mate.😊
Another great video. This spot reminds me of one of my go to spots. Love a lake mouth. Got a few nice tailor myself the other night at Ulladulla. R on e height of tide they were on the chew. Lost a few hooks, but landed a few really solid fish. And a couple of trevally. The ray I did not land. It was a bit big for the 3 kilo.
Hey Rodger, was wondering if you would ever do a trip up to Coffs Harbour nsw. Because I have tried beach fishing in sandy beach but with not much luck. Have never been able to get worms. So it’s a big ask but hopefully it could happen in the future. My dad and I try pilchards and prawns in good gutters but only ever small bream or shovel nose shark.
Hi Austin, thanks for your comment. I love Coffs Harbour, when I was i kid we used to holiday at Urunga on the Bellinger River. I have thought of potentially doing some fishing boot camps around the coast, Coffs is a good area.
@@RogerOsborneFishing just a thought as you are the best beach fisherman. All your ways have taught me. All the rigs have too. Hopefully you have a trip
Have you studied the beach? It's good if you don't live too far away to just go down their and survey the waves, looking for holes etc...without your fishing gear because you'll be too anxious to get your line in the water. Also, hop onto Google Earth. It can also help to identify the beach structure. If you're willing to spend the $$, I know beach fishermen that have purchased a drone to survey the beach. That's the best method I've ever seen
@@PoetofHateSpeech yes I have studied. I have found all the gutters and drop-offs. Also the wave structures. I know the right tides and swell to go but I think it’s the bait that’s affects it. I need to start catching worms
I love your videos. I get vicarious excitement of fishing watching your videos as I don’t get to go fishing very often. Would you mind sharing the name of this location?
Great video roger👍. Just got my first big beach mulloway very excited 😁. Recently been trying luderick fishing with a stick float, wondering if you ever target them? Got one but they are very fussy biters. Have you got any tips?
Hi Roger, do you ever do freshwater fishing? I only got into it about 4 years ago... and now sitting here spooling 4 new baitcasters, 1 being a Shimano scorpion from Japan...just don't tell anyone how much they cost 😑
If the moon phase is right (moon phase is the week leading into the full moon especially on the post midnight outgoing tide at an opened lakes entrance) ie two weeks ago. The Mulloway will come in at night in 1M water lakes entrances especially on moon lit nights where they hug the sea bed, entrance bed sand and look up to the moon light and ambush from below. We used to watch this up at Nelson's Bay at the Tanilba Bay Marina waterways a lot. 2M deep outgoing tide, moonlit night, falling barometric pressure and every 20 minutes the water surface was broken by a Mulloway gorging on baitfish schools in the shallows. One of those beautiful natural moments like watching a trout rise at Eucumbene Cobrabald Bay
Sorry Roger one last comment. I just broke my old but wonderful massive D.A.M quick reel and need a replacement. I want something to target jewfish, sharks and kingies. What size reel do you suggest? In particular suggestions that won't cost me a fortune since I just spent almost all this years fishing budget on new baitcasters
Hi Roger, Just sent you a link to a video where some guys are extracting a 4 meter beach worm. They claim that some worms reach 6 meters!! What do you think about that??
Love your videos, everybody else just make videos that are only suited for showing off with their friends.
Or sneakily advertising a piece of equipment
@@PoetofHateSpeech 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@pgsibilo I meant to say he wasn't sneakily advertising products lol

Any fish can be smoked. Why would tailor be any different?
Woohoo Rogers back

Thanks for the info Alistair, how awesome
14.10 Where Rogers hooks get a little fouled up, look at the fish jumping out of the water.
Hello Mr Osborne, for the color I’m hesitating between pink and blue?
For a jig metal lure.
Do you have a preference?
Thanks
How do you cook your tailor
Pan fried or smoked
Are you allowed to jag for mullet
Not in nsw Ur not
Where about do you fish, and in which country?
Hey Roger, what size rod do you use for the beach?
I have several rods that range from 8ft to 12ft depending on the application
On the lure have you tried swaping out the tail treble with a 3/0 suicide hook?
Sorry Roger one last comment.
I just broke my old but wonderful massive D.A.M quick reel and need a replacement.

I prefer lures to bait but really I find you have to just do one if you intend to bait fish then leave the lures at home and vice versa.
Depends what sort of fishing but I agree
That was fun and no Salmon! What’s going on?😂
Ha ha yes Sue
Look out, no salmon caught today. That would be a first for quite a while. 😂
What lure is that?

W vid
That's a repeat!
What do you mean?
Single hooks on lures are more fish friendly
How did you know it’s a male fish ? ;)
