Great video as ever Roger, many thanks indeed! Whenever we land sharks on the beach we try to flip them belly up straight away: they appear to go on that state of tonic immobility that stops them from trashing around and makes the process of unhooking/releasing them easier.
I tried your deadliest rig last month and my man, I am still using it until now. Been hitting bigger ones lately and I personally unlocked "fear of flying rods" everytime I use that rig. 10 hits 10 landed ❤
Another great vid roger i love watching your channel. I dont get out fishing much these days so watching your videos is like me being out along the water fishing . And i forget about the world watching you fish
Hi Roger. Great catch. It's school holidays and I have been fishing in Anglesea. As usual for Victoria, a strong southerly, large waves and stacks of seaweed. However I have consistently caught fish thanks to all that I have learnt from you and Starlo. Thanks for sharing your fishing wisdom. Kind regards MP
That is a cracking gummy. They are many Victorian fishos very envious of you right now! Great eating too if you prep them right. But at that size, she is a big breeding female so glad you let it go. Btw, props to your camera person. They do a terrific job.
Hi Rog, a couple of things.Iv'e been an qngler for 50 odd years and Iv'e learnt a few things as Iv'e gone allong. I fish the Wairapa coast in NZ these days, previously fished the Bristol channel in the UK with its 12 metre plus tidal extremes. Firstly, if you fished wired grip leads you could keep your rods 2 meters apart(using braid ) 45 left straight ahead 45 right. No more charging about like a lunatic! Braid + intelligent drag setting= distance+ sensitviity Works with our mad surf condirions, should make your life much easier.Ps recurve hooks = 100% higher hook up rate! Rwgqrda
Rodger Sharp hooks are very important I'm not a fan of chemical sharpened hooks. I like the old mustad 4190s. No 4 for whiting and bream and a no 5/0 for snapper off the rocks. And no 5/0 for Jew off the beach.
Tops Roger❤❤❤I was so caught up in video I was starring at the rod behind you its tip with the worm on..and I actually shouted at my fone pointing to my screen fish on 😮😂😂😂😂then realised wat a doofus I'm 😮😢😅😂😂
i have caught bull shark they good eating about 1 meter to 1.5 meters , bleed them good a bit of ammonia smell but clean really good get rid of the dark red meat taste great
G'day Roger. Another great video champ. What area do you live with so many beaches? We don't get many Australian salmon in qld so we'd be happy to go for a drive at one of those beaches. Keep up the great work.
Another great video. Your beach videos and beaches look amazing. We were going to Wooyung beach but 40 knot winds and 4.9m waves put paid to that. I don't think your rough water video tips would have helped!!!!
Hi Roger another epic vid well done in landing that monster , is that what we call rig in NZ / smooth hound in the uk or is it a school shark with teeth
Shark type. Couldn't see any spots on it in video. Looked it up. I didn't know.. 2 types of gummy shark. Standard gummy or white-spotted gummy. (Grows to 1570mm) And Grey gummy or Australian Grey Smooth-Hound. (Grows to 680mm) Great video.
Do you get puffer fish where you fish im in wa and the puffers take all bait and plastics makes it impossible to use anything but metal or hard plastic lures.......any tips?
Roger I've found a problem with the running sinker and hooking up to rays and skates, do you think using a Paternosta rig is a better idea for places like down here in South Australia where eagle rays especially can be a problem and would the hook up rate be worse off on mulloway, salmon etc using the Paternosta rig over a running rig?
Keep wondering what is this mythical mulloway you been talking about only to realise its what we call cob a very common in south africa fish we catch them mostly at night when they come in close to shore to hunt
@@geoffbarnes9175 cob have several sub spieces we also catch one we call a beardman wich has a tussel like groth under its lower lip the standard cob by us is also called a blackfin cob its like by us we call it a dorado but some call it dolphin and elf we call shade and what we call snoek is total dif fish that other people call snoek
Nice catch definitely would have eaten it. One of the biggest mistakes people make when they get a large fish on is to walk along the beach following the fish. If you stand in the one place they usually do that then swim out and back out in front of you then up the beach the opposite direction. People don’t let the rod and reel do the work and don’t realise they can stand in the one place. The fish is not going to beach itself 😊
At least you returned it to its habitat. Unless I am mistaken, that was a female and most likely was full of pups this time of the year. What is the point of bringing it to within an inch of its life just for your video gratification. Would you do that to a female dog heavy with pups?
Roger I like your information as presented in many videos, but HERE we have negativity. I don't do "negative" titles (and I really don't get why the internet thinks teaching wrongs helps us do right). I choose to fill my mind with the right things TO DO, never what "NOT/NEVER" to do. Staying on the positive side of things works WAY better for my brains. I don't need it clogged up with "not to do's". I'll skip this one for that reason, and also because I've been fishing for 50 years.
Roger your biggest mistake is the amount of rods you use. You lose a lot fish the way you fish. I subscribed earlier on but rarely watch any more. But good luck
fraid leader, poor knots and rigs, not clearing scales from covering point of hooks after pinning bait, and wrong sized sinker and hook for bait chosen in the conditions.
Great video as ever Roger, many thanks indeed! Whenever we land sharks on the beach we try to flip them belly up straight away: they appear to go on that state of tonic immobility that stops them from trashing around and makes the process of unhooking/releasing them easier.
There goes Roger, living his best Life ever, lucky old salt.
Hi. Fabulous Gummy, we love them in SA. This is why we use mono for beach fishing, I use 18 kg Nacrita on my 50 Sloshes.🤗 Cheers
Sounds great!

Hi mate, it was a pleasure to meet you the other day. As always thanks for another informative vid. There is always something more I can learn.

Phenomenal catch Roger,Well played and beast of a gummy. They're good eating arent they?

I agree, the camera person is a keeper.
Thanks 👍
Glad to see more live bait videos targeting these bigger fish 👏
More to come!
What a catch!
Thanks, Roger! Awesome as always!
I couldn’t help but laugh when it looked like you were giving the shark a hug at the end 😂 great catch!
Thanks mate
Love ur work!! 👏

Hi Roger loved the tango with gummy near the end . Classic ! 😂

Nice bit of work Roger - big gummy
Thanks, very big 😊
Yes, Roger. It's painful losing fish just because we're too lazy to check the line or the knot.
Legend! 🥳🙏🏽👑

It's called a Gummy in Oz. Very good eating.
what leader did you use when catching the shark
Hey Roger what beach do u fish at the most
The ultimate in fish and chips greek style they would be fantastic battered. Hake , flake, no bones the best.
Shark type.
Couldn't see any spots on it in video.

Filleting a shark would be a good video.
okay, why not 😊
Illegal in nsw isn't it?
Gummy is Flake in Victoria… Delicious!
What a monster - we get a lot of gummies just offshore on those beaches, but never that big!
Yes Simon, it was solid.
monster gummy, nice one Roger
It was a beast!
Can I ask what your preference for rods and reels are please Roger? Brands, weight rating, reel brand and size would be awesome.
Do you get puffer fish where you fish im in wa and the puffers take all bait and plastics makes it impossible to use anything but metal or hard plastic lures.......any tips?
Mate if you are looking for an incredible bull bar for your new UTE please let me know.
Victorians would be crying you released that gummy. great video Roger
Yes, Gummy's are very popular down there.
@@RogerOsborneFishingit’s the flake in our fish n chip shops
Can I book a session with u pls n were is this place pls
Hi Roger I’m looking for a 1000 size reel that is good for flicking soft plastics and that is cheep, do you have any recommendations?
Shimano FX 100 FC

I think that a Paternoster rig is a good idea to get your bait off the bottom and perhaps minimize Rays etc
Gummy shark, yummy!
Hi mate, what size sinker are you using ?
Size 3 star sinker

Pretty sure they are the same fish….Argyrosomus japonicus.
@@brianandrea3249 could be its like beach worms we call them wonderwoms or blood worms
That would have been a cracking feed and filled the freezer for quite some time 🤤
On the one hand, I was very pleased you let the shark go (anyting that large deserves to live) but if it's 'good eating' why?
Already had plenty of fish in the fridge.
If it’s small it deserve to live? I never understood that comment

You got to kiss it mate before putting it back! 🤣
Ha ha yes 😂
mark one up for sharks
Dunno about gummy , maybe a school shark - no dots on the side .
the teeth are flat though, gotta be gummy
the dots can vanish when they get really big
