    That was not just a technically impressive joke, it was brilliant. Putting the game aside (which looks fun), this whole video is impressive. The green screen, the test pilot section, the made up tinder match screen. Wow. It’s one thing to make a joke, but the ease and clean-looking nature of them are really impressive. You’ve really outdone yourself, Quinns. One of your best.

    The translation of the name would actually be “six takes” and not “take six”. It is no referring to taking six cards, it is referring to the circumstance of six cards in a row that results in taking the whole row.

    To answer your question about the army and face paint: yes. It takes forever to get the stuff off and then the sink must be spotless or else.

      I interpreted it as that one counts the face of the card as 1 horn, and the small horns are added, not to replace.

    One trick that Quinns didn't bring up- sometimes, it's worth deliberately playing a low card and taking a stack, because it could force another player to take a different, bigger stack. It's good fun when it happens :')

    I couldn't disagree more about high player counts. I've played a 10p game before and it's brilliant. Just in a different way. See, you're all still looking at the same rows and have the same thought of "Oh, that row that starts with 32 is perfect!" Only now, you're looking at your hand and you have a 38 and a 42, which means there's prooooobably too many people going for it already. So do you play the 38? No! You play the 42. Because you're hoping that whole row busts, another row starts, and you sneak in safely on that row.
    Or, there's the case where there's 3 rows with 5 cards and a row with nothing but the 10. And you confidently play the 23. Because you know that row is going to bust, then bust AGAIN, and then you slide in on the 3rd row of that round!
    And of course, that's all before people start picking on on that strat and the meta becomes either playing super close to the number or actually purposely getting further and further away to be one of the people who slide in safely.
    tl;dr: 10's still a great player count, you just have to ride the wave of randomness and try to control surf your way to victory.

    This game led to my favorite pun moment of my entire life. Another player, in frustration, said, "Gah! I need to place something between 35 and 36!"
    And I responded, "That would be 35 and a calf."
    Top 3 moments of my life: graduating college, seeing my brother get married, and that pun.

    You don't need to create vast, heavy, visualizing games to grab attention if you want to make a name for yourself in the board gaming world. All you need is a deck numbered 1-100 and get creative.

    Fun fact in regards to pronunciation, the "Nimmt" part was right, six in German is written as Sechs and pronounced like sex. Sex is also pronounced as sex in English, which obviously leads to a lot of bad jokes.

    Minor German lesson from a German idiot: "6 nimmt" does not mean "take 6" but rather "(number) six takes (everything)" which basically refers to the fact that you take the entire row when laying down the sixth card. Love you guys :)

      Looks like 7 to me too. Divisible by 5 adds 2 horns (total of 3), divisible by 11 adds 4 (total of 5), so both adds 6 for a total of 7.

      StagNation no, according to my set of rules only the small cow heads on top counts. The 55 card is worth 7 points.

      The 55 is most definitely only worth seven horns. Cards divisible by 5 have 3 horns. Cards divisible by 11 have 4 horns. 55, being divisible by both 5 (3 horns) and 11 (4 horns) therefore gets both = 7 horns.

      10 cards with 3 cattle heads - multiples of ten: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100
      9 cards with 2 cattle heads - multiples of five that are not multiples of ten (except 55): 5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 65, 75, 85, 95
      76 cards with 1 cattle head - the rest of the cards from 1 through 104

    Played this with my family so many times. I also highly recommended this game!
    Though keep in mind that when you play this game with (for example) kids: they might not find this game enjoyable due to those minus-points/points of shame. As they interpreted it as negative feedback, in my experience.

    Great vid on a classic game - we invariably love this, and it's a truly brutal but painfully joyful game. "Silliness" is certainly a word I'd associate with 6 Nimmt! but not in a bad way - we really like it, and it's excellent at higher player counts...

    Great video (as normal) Quinns and it is a great game. We played it as a quick filler game for 15 minutes recently and ended up playing nothing else for the evening and just stayed with this.

    I've never invested more than a few thoughts into 6nimmt. I've come not for the review, but for the presentation and got more than I could ever hope for!!! XD
    The game's neat for a few rounds at the lake or biergarten. Strategy is simple (take a few cards or gamble on your knowledge of the other players preferances) and the game can be played by pretty much everyone with everyone.
    I've played it with physicists and and children at the same time - all having fun, nobody had to pull punches or was at an ad-/disadvantage because of mathmetical eduction (like many small statistical cardgames do).
    A perfect filler or activity an famaly gatherings.

That's one of best parts of your videos that i find other reviewers shy away from. i'd never heard of up and down the river, and didn't see the correlation between for sale and this one till you made that connection for me.     nice. Being able to see what other people played as you decide which row to take is a great aspect as well. you can steal the safe row of someone else and watch them take 6 cards in another row since their card now has to play there.
    Because it is a deck of numbered cards you can use ti to play "The Mind" as well if you had wanted to give it a try or wanted to mix up the game night a bit more.

      Doubt you should count the one in the middle too, as the white ones should only count as one horn. The white cards have one horn at the top, bottom and the middle.

    I was initially put off by the uninspired art on the cards and the ugly bull head. After seeing it played live I was amazed how complex the game is for its easiness to explain. Good.

    I was thoroughly entertained by the video but I absolutely loathe 6 Nimmt or any of its ilk. Maybe I just don't gel well with the "cut and thrust" and "watching players squirm" kind of games. Anyway, I definitely disagree with this recommendation. Unsubscribed :)

      As long as everyone remembers the amount each card is worth in bulls as mentioned in the video (divisible by 5 = 3 bulls, divisible by 11 = 5 bulls, and divisible by 5 and 11 = 7 bulls, all others are 1 bull), you can play it. You could also make a player aid too that lists all the non-1 bull cards. I think it'd be easier to buy 6 Nimmt! and use that to play The Mind, though, since all you need for that is a few tokens to keep track of shurikens and lives and look up the level cards to see what bonuses you get for each level.

    You can literally (and rather easily) win this game by playing cards randomly. Silly, but not silly fun. I love plenty of fillers that have tons of randomness (For Sale, No Thanks...etc.) but this one is devoid of interesting decisions or control.

    I was on short visit in Germany recently. Wanted to buy some souvenir for kids. I have noticed that game on a shelf and reminded this review and have brought it. That was the best possible purchase. Game is just great. The only minus is that there was this silly Poker Locker Mocker or something that you have recommended on store shelf and I have decided to buy just 6 nimmt. Great review and highly recommended game for family.

    Interesting to see this here, and to see it didn't get translated. The "horns" are "Hornochsen", which is a old-fashioned German synonym for idiots. Bull-heads, maybe? (as in bull-headed)

    This is a game where doesn't matter what You are doing. You can win or be as succesful by playing Your cards randomly. Why this aspect wasn't covered by this review?

    Confusing, the Dutch 999 Games version of this game is called "Take 5!" not "6 nimmt". But on BGG "Take 5" is also a reimplementation 6 nimmt. Lol.

    i first heard about this game in the anime After School Dice Club and it’s made me want it so bad, and this review only made me want it more.
    Also I couldn’t help but see Tichu!! that’s gotta be my favorite “classic” card game. Absolutely love it. I hope to hear your thoughts about Tichu someday!

    Edit: Pretty spot on actually! (Except for "Six" which is Sechs in german) - Buuuut "6 nimmt!" doesn't translate to "Take six" but rather to "Six takes!"

    This game looks awesome!! By the way, there is a Xia: Legends of a Drift System expansion. Please review, I love Xia but don't know if I should buy the expansion. Help me Quinn's alter egos, your my only hope.

      You should. Embers really smoothes the bumps from the base game. And get Missions & Powers as well, the new missions encourage player interaction in a great way and the new ship powers enable awesome (and sometimes hilarious) combos.

    2 player with 1 to 24 cards is interesting in a warped sense. I tried on a whim and like it enough to play it again. That card is not the Droid you are looking for.

    Thank you much. 2 years ago, I played this at a party, had a blast with it, and then completely forgot the name. Since then, every couple of months or so, I'd have the errant thought, "What was the name of that number cow game?" and go on a mad Googling spree to find it, with no luck. Thank you so much, that was going to drive me crazy.
