chinese translation usually use the words' actual meaning, e.g. starbucks - xingbakeu, the xing sound basically means star. it can be confusing for chinese people to remember or understand the brand with only syllables so with meaning it would be better. but yes it sounds weird to other non-chinese speaking people

Subway in Chinese "賽百味" It translated by the sound, and also has another meaning. It means "Better than hundreds of tastes" if you translate literally which actually means "better than any other foods".
Actually, Subway is translated perfectly in Chinese. It is 赛sai百bai味wei. Which means 'Competing with a hundreds of tastes.'赛(to compete or to challenge or to race)百(a hundred)味(taste). And the pronunciations are saibaiwei or psy-by-way. So this translation is really successful that it translated both pronounciation and the meaning.
Yes Coca-Cola in Chinese is "Kekou-Kele" Kekou means delicous, and Kele means Cola but literally "enjoyable" So it is Delicious Enjoyable literally but pronounces Kekou-Kele

Actually the Chinese version included transliteration and translation so it sound weird to foreigners. Sometimes we use words that have similar pronunciation but have special meaning in Chinese as the Chinese version( e.g.Subway in Chinese is 賽百味Saibaiwei which means the food is delicious and able to compete with hundreds of tastes. Pizza Hut in Chinese 必勝客bishenke which means certainly win.) I think Chinese version is the best as it does not only have a similar pronunciation but a meaning in our own language. we use 肯德基 in Hong Kong. i think it's because KFC opened chain store in Hong Kong first. btw, we normally call it KFC even though in advertisement
