Isn't "It's okay not to be okay" more like 안 괜찮아도 괜찮아??? Like this line actually appears quite a few times as part of the hospital director's line because it's his hospital's motto for the patients to understand that even if they're not okay, it's okay... and the title for daejanggeum in chinese if he were to explain it as "golden" it should be 金 and not 今 because 今 is today and not golden
Yess I caught that too because in one of mamamoo's songs they have a line that says 'it's okay to not be okay' and it was similar to that: 괜찮지 안하도 괜찮아. what he actually said was "it's not okay but it's okay".
Both 안 and -지 않다 are used to negate sentences. 안 괜찮아도 괜찮아 = Not being okay is also okay and 괜찮지 않아도 괜찮아 = To not be okay is also okay. -지 안하다 is similar to -지않다. To my understanding -지않다 is used more in more formal situations though
I agree, the way Dave said it, "괜찮지만, 안 괜찮아" is more like "I'm okay, but I'm not okay" where as "안 괜찮아도 괜찮아" has more of a connotation that implies "you're allowed to be not okay / being not okay is okay / even if it's not okay, it's okay"........ LOL regardless, i honestly never saw a problem with the psycho title in English so thats what i've been referring it to as anyway.

As I know, when movies or dramas (or books etc you got the point :D ) translated into another language, if the name doesn't make sense, they make up another name from the content. For example, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is so long and kind of weird in turkish when you translate it, so they made it "Sil Baştan" which literally means "Erase from the Beginning" or "Erase it from the Beginning". (Still, there are so many weird translations as well :p )
I CAME FOR DAE JANG GEUM. That series was super popular in Taiwan, too. My aunt used to play the OST in the car while my family and her family (She and my mom are sisters) were on a long trip together. The whole series is great. I really like the English title for 사이코지만 괜찮아. The term "Psycho" has such a stigma and I feel like there is so much more to the characters than just saying that. The English title kind of emphasizes their struggles and healing more? If that makes sense 😭
@@redracing95 True, but not too much if they've even said it in the drama. It's a quote hanging in the director's office. Like I'm pretty sure that's his motto for the hospital. That phrase still has meaning to the story.

I think there's kinda 2 categories of k-drama, the 'normal' ones (like the ones they mentioned in this video), and the soap opera/over the top ones both are highly enjoyable for different reasons
Love this series! A quick note for the Chinese subtitle of It's Okay To Be Psycho 虽然是精神病但没关系 - should be 神经病 instead of 精神病. These two words often get confused even by the native Chinese speakers, but they indicate very different things. Whereas 神经病 often refers psycho with negative attitude, 精神病 (which is the word used in this video) is a more clinical description for mental disorder.
This comment is to reduce the misunderstanding of foreigners regarding the explanation of Mr.Sunshine. Currently, the pronunciation of Mr.Sunshine is expressed as 미스터선샤인.However, it was not long after English was introduced to Joseon, and the foreign language notation was very different in 1900 in Joseon, which was a situation in the drama. Mr.Sunshine's writer borrowed the foreign language notation of the period to highlight the historical background of the drama. SO THE DRAMA NAME BECAME 미스터션샤인. In conclusion, it is wrong that in this video, a Korean woman said Korean shortened "미스터션샤인" and made it easier to pronounce.

Dae Jang Geum is my favorite historical drama, here in Peru the name was "Una joya en el palacio" which is the translation from English! I remember watching it with my mom in the afternoons after school.
Jewel in the place was popular here in India as well. It aired on national channel here in 2004. It was my first kdrama along with emperor of the sea at that time I wasn't aware that I was watching kdrama but my whole family used to watch it at 8 pm every night
The sound you gave for goblin at 7:20 had me CRACKING up. I was the same though, I didn't watch goblin for ages because I was put off by the name lmao, I was like goblin...no thanks 😂😂🤣. I never knew that it wasn't a direct translation though! Interesting!
halfway through the video and i thought, 'wait why am i watching this i speak all 4 of these languages-' but these name comparisons are always so fun to watch!!!
My favourite change in title translations is for 왕이 된 남자, because the original (lit. Man who became a king) sounds so flat and uninspired. But "Crowned clown" is more interesting and can refer to both main characters: a fool who became a king and a king who became foolish
We had Jangeum's not drama but cartoon in my country! Almost everybody from the era it released knows it! They translated as "Jangeum's Dream"(Jangeum'un Rüyası). It was amazing lol

@@TheWorldofDave Np bro. Thx for response.
데이브님의 영상중에서 가장 재미있게 보는것이 각국의 언어비교영상인데, 오늘도 특이하면서도 정말로 재미있게 잘봤습니다.....^^
Dae Jang Geum is my favorite historical drama, here in Peru the name was "Una joya en el palacio" which is the translation from English! I remember watching it with my mom in the afternoons after school.

А где можно найти видео с Ким Софией???
Наверное он мантирует
브아이님에겐 아쉬운 일이지만 찐밍님이 한자설명을 잘해주셔서 이해하기가 편합니다
이런 컨텐츠를 내심 찾고 있었는데 ㅎㅎ
이 컨셉, 굿 !
Till today never thought dave was this old but when he said he was in 9th grade the year i was born i felt it uncle dave😂😂😂
헉 ! 전부 제가 좋아하는 것들 ! 2000년대꺼 빼구 .. ㅎㅎ 응답하라 1988도 궁금해요 ㅠㅠ !!
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ잘만들었다니까ㅋㅋㅋ데이브 왜 본인이 만든게 아니라면서 뭔가 뿌듯해보이는 표정이지ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Omg Jewel in the Palace was what my grandma used to watch back in Egypt!! This brought soooo many memories!!
Jewel in the place was popular here in India as well. It aired on national channel here in 2004. It was my first kdrama along with emperor of the sea at that time I wasn't aware that I was watching kdrama but my whole family used to watch it at 8 pm every night
jaein looks so cute and excited talking about all the dramas. ya love to see it
데이브님 발음차이할때가 진짜 재밌어요!!
"it's okay to not be okay"는 "괜찮지만, 안 괜찮아" 보다 "안 관찮아도, 괜찮아" 가 더 정확하지 않나요...?
네 맞아요! 데이브님 좀 실수했어요 ㅋㅋ
맞아요

The sound you gave for goblin at 7:20 had me CRACKING up. I was the same though, I didn't watch goblin for ages because I was put off by the name lmao, I was like goblin...no thanks 😂😂🤣. I never knew that it wasn't a direct translation though! Interesting!
halfway through the video and i thought, 'wait why am i watching this i speak all 4 of these languages-' but these name comparisons are always so fun to watch!!!
한국 드라마가 대단하긴 대단하구만
6만만더 화이팅! 200만 가즈아ㅏㅏ!!
this guy’s Chinese accent is so proper.
데이브횽 조아~~
My favourite change in title translations is for 왕이 된 남자, because the original (lit. Man who became a king) sounds so flat and uninspired. But "Crowned clown" is more interesting and can refer to both main characters: a fool who became a king and a king who became foolish
제인님 예쁘네요 💗💗💗💗
I wanted to be a member of this cool team .. gives so much information ❤️
Love you guys 🥰
We had Jangeum's not drama but cartoon in my country! Almost everybody from the era it released knows it! They translated as "Jangeum's Dream"(Jangeum'un Rüyası). It was amazing lol
