I did a challenge similar to this a while back, but instead of not trying to do regular jumps, I tried to use the least amount of buttons. It was pretty fun, but spinning was definitely helpful
In New Super Mario Bros U you only get the Penguin suit in World 9. Also, these are secret exits, they are phisically connected, warps use a floot, cannon or similar

Couldn't you use a Penguin Suit to get through the water levels without “jumping”? Pretty sure you can simply use the joystick to move around underwater when you have one…
I know How you could beat the water sections. If you got a penguin suit then you could swim like princess peachete’s swimming ability, from the deluxe version on the switch
You don't say "left dash handed" so don't say "one dash one." It's just one one, I promise. Been that way for decades, zoomers aren't gonna change that by being confused.
It would be more interesting in Super Mario 3D Land or 3D World since you need to get collectables and some of those collectables would be harder or impossible to get since the normal way of getting them is with a powerup
Here is why if you press a in the water levels it doesn’t count as a jump it does not register it as a jump register is it as a breast stroke you’ll see super Mario 64
When I fought Mega Bowser as Nabbit in both games, I couldn't figure out how to boost with the Clown Car. If I remember correctly, ZL/ZR only spin-jumped me out of it and shaking the controller didn't do anything. So it took me a while to defeat him, but I still barely did it.
It was easy to do? Yes it was. Like most of the "challenges" you do. Why not try something harder, like a passive run of a Mario game, only killing bosses.

His spin jump is OP in Mario Sunshine and awful in NSMBU unless you have the acorn. Then its OP. Also my Joy cons started drifting on W7 Castle :(

You can actually swim with baby yoshi without using the jump button you can use the joystick
