What would be the best new feature? Huge thank you to Smashy for allowing me to use footage from his Super Smashy Maker game as well as the creators of the maker games and tools that I used in this video! More information is in the description.
Don’t think they would add wonder style or odyssey, probably very hard to implement. Perhaps galaxy and maker can have different curves to build things that resembles a planet.
The Ability to traverse the Foreground Terrain,Middleground Terrain and Background Terrain and use Launch Stars,Warp Boxes,Warp Doors or Pipes to get to either the Foreground,Middleground and Background.
Oil Lakes and Puddles which makes the Player slip and slide around after they get out of the Lake and Liquid Nitrogen/Chilly Water which temporarily freezes anything if they Go In.
In my opinion, I think they should add a feature where you can watch and see how the dev of the level beat it. This will show you if the dev used a dev exit or if you are stuck on a level you can see what to do on it.
Replays of the world record time would be cool too, to see how you could potentially beat the time or what route the record holder took if the level has multiple paths
I love all these ideas and I want to add one more: collaborative level creation. Collab levels are pretty popular in MM2, but it's always just one person building it while other people tell the creator their ideas. It'd be cool to be able to work on a level with another person or even multiple people if they're invited by their player ID.
We need more superworld options, bigger worlds, more levels, secret exits en levels, star coins and more! I hope they add Mario maker 3 soon. Also larger levels
I like the idea of combining level themes… Combine a forest with a castle, you get an overgrown castle. You combine a beach level with a ghost house, you could get just a generic house level! That would be cool, a default house!-
An additional thought, instead of having a maximum number of bosses per area, why not have a minimum distance between bosses? Maybe make it span the width of a screen?
Nintendo need to make "Mario Maker Cloud". All Mario Maker 1 and 2 and eventual Mario Maker sequels can be uploaded onto it. I wouldn't be too surprised if they just scrap SMM3 altogether and make Mario Maker Cloud the ultimate game for the next gen. Or perhaps even a Mario Maker system. I'd buy it.
good point. if wonder don't make it but SMB2 does then galaxy would replace it, but to he honest, i'm not expecting wonder to be in SMM3 because it would be WAY harder to code the something like SMB2@@QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4
Mario Wonder theme is cool, and enemies turned into bosses is also a cool addition too, but my most wanted features are the secret exit flag poles, vertical level option in the main area and custom scroll in the sub area, and super worlds to have at least 10 levels per world and 2 worlds to be uploaded at a time and a bonus world (World 9).😊😊
I guess I do, indeed, arrow. I also want the mountain, beach, and volcano theme the most, but the other themes are cool, too. I also want the ice flower and penguin suit, mostly the penguin suit.😂🤩
You just literally created the perfect game. But I can't get over how in Mario Maker 2 we are missing the Ice Flower. I wanted to include it in my course 2-3, because it was a snowy mountain theme, but I was forced to use the super acorn, which makes miniscule sense
Thank you for actually suggesting features instead of just items and styles! I wish that clear conditions would become "alternate win or loss modes" and "bonus conditions" alternate win modes would work like: when you collect X coins trigger win the level, alternate loss modes would be like: if you touch the ground after leaving the ground it's game over bonus conditions would include all of these, but they would give the player a bonus of the purple coins if they fulfill the condition. I think some things should still have restrictions, like pipes should only be able to move between areas and doors should only be able to move within the area, but I think that warp blocks in 3D world style should be changed to go between areas. I think these things make a level readable to a player that likely will only play your level once. Secret exits should be pointed out, either in a number of flags (or axes, or power star, in the various styles) and then a level with multiple exits should encourage the player to replay the level after it's been completed, even in endless mode. Bonus purple coins or a secret exit stat could be used for incentive
For some reason in SMM2, autoscroll features in horizontal levels but not in vertical levels. That obviously needs changing. Yoshi and vines do not feature in 3D World either. I would love the theme of the original Mario Brothers where you leave the screen and reappear on the other side. This should also be used for horizontal levels; so if you fall or fly through the bottom of the screen, you reappear at the top. I don't want character skins in SMM3! SMM2 already opened Pandora's Box with Link's abilities. They now need to introduce Samus who can shoot, roll into a ball and scatter bombs. And DK who can roll into enemies and blast through barrels, etc. The SMW theme is missing keyholes. These could be useful for warping in Super Worlds. And why not add the keyholes to other series too? This will make levels more interesting with more replay value trying to find alternative routes. The P-Balloon....no...the ORIGINAL P-BALLOON! You now have the option to use the P-Balloon so that it's on a timer and Mario deflates. Perhaps he could be purple-ish when big and gradually changes back to his regular colour whilst deflating so that you know how much time is left. There's loads of enemies and items missing from SMW like the Charging Chuck, the wall ramp (as mentioned), the flying hammer brother, the Fuzzy and giant pipes you burst out of. That's to name a few.
6:58 Again. Here's my Idea. We have 8 (Or 9 for one Special) Theme: Grasslands, Desert, Water, Ice, Forest, Mountain, Sky and Lava (And one Special for each Game type) and 5 (or 6 for one special) course elements: Overworld, Underworld, Vehicle, Ghost House, Tower, Catle (And one special for Each Theme) + Four/Five Weather conditions: Summer, Autumn, Monsoon,Winters and Spring. Yeah! It sounds Ambitious but hey, like Otto Von Bismarck said "If you aim for stars, only then will you reach the moon"
What I like about a lot of these ideas is they don’t care about “what would a bad maker use this for?” Because if you always think like that, you’ll never add fun features.
Imagine all the gamestyles being compatible with each other (The cat suit, smb2 mushroom, ice flower tanooki suit dash blocks etc all available in every gamestyle and not to mention night themes in 3D world)That alone would make MM3 such a good game. Great video btw such good ideas for a mm3 would love to see it become reality!
In overworld only: Keep 1up progression in world maps. You may choose to make people start a map over if they run out of 1ups. Blocks that uses your 1ups or gold coins whenever you jump under them and destroy them, you can do it when you're small mario too. That's how you can create shops in game.

One thing missing from SMM2 that nobody ever talks about is the fact that you cannot select a color palette for your level. Each theme only lets you use the default colors that come with it. Imagine the possibilities if you could make your level any color you want. You could make a cave level with brown walls instead of the default blue. You could even make it purple if you want. You could change the color of a ground theme level into a fall color palette. Or you could make it some strange color like blue, to give the appearance of being on an alien planet. You could make a castle with gold walls. Or maybe give Wendy O. Koopa a pink castle. I'd love to see what people would do if you gave them the freedom to choose their level's color scheme. I bet a lot of people would make some very weirdly colored levels. There will be some ugly color schemes for sure. But it would be nice to give Makers this new way to Express themselves.
3:54 I like the fact you used SM4J to do the decorations Another thing: We should be able to place hitboxes to the objects, this would work by not making the objects have hitboxes and adding hitboxes tool like Super Mario 4 Jugadores/Players Another thing: Nintendo should delete levels that have a bunch of boos and a few likes
Alright for serious, this will be the last comment I will make , I assure you I am not a troll XD. You are just so wholesome Man! I already talked about Themes + course Elements but you were probably wonderful what was "Vehicle" course element? It was Vehicles and it would be: Tanks in Grasslands Train in Desert Navy in Water Ice Truck in Ice River Navy in Jungle Mine Cart/Train in Mountain Airship/Airforce in Sky and Lava Navy in Lava 😊
All of this is a really good idea for a Super Mario Maker 3. And I like the part where you can customize generic mario enemies into a boss with how many hits it will take to defeat them.
I really think Nintendo needs to add more basic stuff in the editor that are in the mainline series games. after that we could start hoping for more add-ons that make the game more interesting and interactive
I've thought this for over a year, but we need a Game Style Maker mixing elements from Mario Paint, Wario Ware DIY, and maybe even Game Builder Garage. That might actually be a good video idea.
There are two main features I thought about a bit ago that I think would really improve a future MM: 1) Enable you to START a level with a particular power-up. It's a simple change but with worlds, it can add CONTINUITY. Make the clear condition of one level to beat it with a power-up, then make the next level start with that power-up. A simple change that should be good for storytelling. 2) This is a big ask, but I think they should allow you to enable/disable individual movement abilities per level, both removing base ones and potentially adding ones from other modes. I'm genuinely sick of 90% of skill-based levels being in Mario World style. Allow us to wall-jump in Mario 3, ground pound in Mario 1, throw shells up in NSMB, whatever you want. Disable jumping, or any other mechanic too. They can show you what's enabled/disabled on the intro screen like clear conditions. They already add entire suites of abilities with new power-ups like the Master Sword, so it's really not much of a stretch to make them per-level. Imagine the challenges or puzzles you can make with any mode having any base mechanic.
These are cool additions, but keep in mind that too many additions to the editor will be confusing, probably would have bugs, and could hurt the playing experience for playing courses as… especially for the # of hits for a boss would be hard to predict for experienced players.
8:34 this feature wouldn’t work. Keep in mind this game is played by people all over the world. I get Japanese levels all the time where I can’t even read the title. If there was message blocks with important information to beat the level, I’d be screwed. Maybe they could have “message blocks” similar to the comments that are in MM2 where it is a picture, that way they work in any language. They would just need a lot more options
If nintendo sees this comment, you should know what we want. You announced a trailer to make mario levels ! We wish we could make our very own mario game with bosses, levelss, secrets, cutscenes and a custom soundtrack We want you to give us unlimited possibilities and better super worlds, to create the mario game of our dreams. Please Nintendo, make our dreams.
Ah yes, some entities and themes (including Wonder of course), and some really nice features to solve issues, inconveniences and monotony in the game, such as those boss features, and the powerup problem. I also would have probably thought of most of these, these are great. The multi-player and checkpoint features are good too, and clever use of the wonder flower in Mario Maker being the night mode themes; could also be other stuff though such as pipes going crazy. Just one thing I would also add is to be small versions of powerups. By that, I mean that you could be Small Fire Mario, Small SMB2 Mario and even Kitten Mario to name just a few. Small Fire Mario could be able to shoot fire but not break bricks, and then I guess would power down to normal when hit; getting the fire flower as Small Mario would turn you into Small Fire Mario.
I feel like the purple coins would definitely get abused if you make them give actual permanent rewards. They would either need to work like star coins where they can only unlock stuff in super worlds, or there would need to be some coin verification system, like in some other community supported games like geometry dash. The difference is just that verifying levels is a lot easier in a less popular game than in a massive one like Mario maker. Nintendo would need a huge dedicated team to verify purple coins in lots of levels if they want it to be at least somewhat likely to get them verified. If Nintendo doesn’t do this, it’ll just result in thousands of free purple coin levels
When you said you wanted to turn into a Goomba you were in the original game style and 2 I already said Mario odyssey does not have baby Yoshi’s and there’s a star coin counter instead of a moon
I think I'd like a revamped underwater night theme, instead of surrounding you pure darkness, I'd have the underwater night theme be another hybrid land & water level. Mario would run and jump as long as he's on land (so would enemies and items too) but if he dives underwater then he would have to swim whilst being surrounded by darkness.
At first I thought this might just be a big list of 75 things from past mario games, but I should have known better that you put more effort into your presentation. I also am glad I watched this because I'm planning a video about a similar, yet different, MM3 vid idea and want to make sure I don't use any of your ideas(it's not a wishlist vid, but rather a bit different)
Oh wow, usually people have the same ideas for MM3. There's a lot of great ideas in this video! An idea I had that i feel could make Mario Maker a more popular game is to have a "Mario Player" version of the game that can be brought on the eshop for for like half price and it only play levels instead of letting you make levels. If you buy Mario player and then decide you want to make levels, then you can buy the maker part. I imagine this will greatly boost the community as it allows people who were only interested in playing the levels and not making them or people who have trouble buying full priced games to get the game.
I can't believe you didn't mentioned more than 2 sub worlds? Anyway: I just want one minor thing. I want a different Luigi Sprite for 8 bit style. It feels so bad to him being just a reskin of Mario. Another minor thing is that when Mario devours a Frog Suit (Or Master Sword if it ever returns), I would love have him as just red and no other color.
Although, SMM2 lacks many game changer features, those where enough to take extra effort of adding key aspects for fine gameplay. Also, a button for "Restart from Checkpoint" is actually posible on multiplayer online, but i whish it was present on Single player gamewhise too...🙏🙏
Have some more coloured Yoshis: Purple Yoshi: Has a ground-pound ability in the other styles where ground-pounding isn't possible. Magenta Yoshi: Enemies can be held and spit out. When spit out, they behave like they were thrown by SMB2 Mario. Cyan Yoshi: When enemies are licked, they are frozen and can be spit out as sliding ice blocks. Black Yoshi: Has all the abilities of a red, yellow and blue Yoshi. (fire breath, stomping and flying) If you're wondering where I got these from, I got 'em from a Mario fangame called Super Mario Bros. X2. Go play it, and thank me later.
It would be cool if we had a Mario Land 2 and Mario bros 2 style, they would be extra game styles, and reset the level when changing to them, in smb2, goombas get replaced with shy guys, bullet bill canons are replaced the fire Canons and so many other things like koopa shells once hitting a wall disappear (like in the original) and certain enemis can't be picked up but you can still ride on them and the bosses get replaced too. but if they keep an smb2 mushroom, they should make it so that plants that are mostly decorations become pick upable!
I feel like they would keep the mushroom instead of adding the whole style (even though that would be awesome). Definitely agree about picking up decorations
@@Arrowstotle and it would also make sense, and i don't see them not implementing it, given that they made cloud blocks pick upable, and no aksed for it it's still welcome
Costume Mario is back and no longer exclusive to the SMB1 style. Instead the costumes will be exclusive to the style they appear. The general rule will be SMB1 - Arcade and Early NES, Gameboy SMB3 - Middle and Late NES, GBC SMW - SNES and N64, GBA NSMBU - Gamecube and DS, Wii SM3DW - Wii U SMBW - Switch With the exception of SMB1, all costumes will be redrawn or remodeled to fit within their theme's respective artstylea
There should be a Troll tag that allows for more things than would usually be possible, like triggering P-Switch or Switches when you move to a specific position or in a specific area, allowing for lightspeed launchers, teleporting, allowing to disable Restart from Checkpoint in lieu of Restart Level to enforce antisoftlocks, even making it easier to upload the level with intended deaths as part of level progression. Also allowing for sprites and objects to move that normally don't, like having a pipe crush you suddenly or a 1-way gate slowly come out of the wall or ceiling after walking down a long corridor to get a 50-Coin The Troll tag also ensures that, barring very specific circumstances like one-screen mini trolls that get approved by moderators, troll levels won't show up in Endless, and you can search for them in the course viewer. There should also be a Hot Garbo tag that you can search for but, once again, it won't appear in Endless unless a moderator approves it. It's for very very bad troll levels with pick-a-pipe and kaizo spam etc, and/or just general hot garbage, such as one of Larl's horrendously evil jank antisoftlocks. Little Timmy levels would also be given this tag.
I think you should be able to view a Video of the world record on a level similar to how you can View Ghost time trial times in Mario kart this would make trying to beat world records on levels a lot easier! 😁
1:35 theres a work around for coop levels! a german creator "DerBescheidwisser" is a master on that mechanic how to clear a coop level as one player. There's a hidden mechanic with mushroom and flower which can trigger a hidden path if you are alone.
What would be the best new feature?

As well having mixing themes too. Which would make enviorment BG more variated.

Also you give the same vibe as A person called "Drew Binsky"
I've thought this for over a year, but we need a Game Style Maker mixing elements from Mario Paint, Wario Ware DIY, and maybe even Game Builder Garage. That might actually be a good video idea.
Nintendo, hire this man.
Water bubbles used to be my worst nightmare in SMB Wii. when I was younger. But now I’m hyped.
I agree with everything. I’d like to add teleporting walls in vertical levels, where if you walk too far on one side you come out of the other
So many cool ideas and honestly at least half arent anything too crazy really hope a maker 3 gets made
I tried to mix it up with some easy/realistic and some bigger ideas. Fingers crossed that Mario Maker 3 is in the works!
@Arrowstotle oh for sure I don't think I could've even come up with 75 things so kudos to being able to think of that many
There are two main features I thought about a bit ago that I think would really improve a future MM:
1) Enable you to START a level with a particular power-up.
Now you made me want Mario Maker 3 more than never :c
You are allowed to save the courses. Yes saving the courses in the halls!
These are cool additions, but keep in mind that too many additions to the editor will be confusing, probably would have bugs, and could hurt the playing experience for playing courses as… especially for the # of hits for a boss would be hard to predict for experienced players.
10:17 of the Bobomb really makes me laugh
8:34 this feature wouldn’t work. Keep in mind this game is played by people all over the world. I get Japanese levels all the time where I can’t even read the title. If there was message blocks with important information to beat the level, I’d be screwed. Maybe they could have “message blocks” similar to the comments that are in MM2 where it is a picture, that way they work in any language. They would just need a lot more options
We need the boss customization, I want King Goomba
Another cool style is the Ninja Dojo and Carnival style from 3D World.
If nintendo sees this comment, you should know what we want.
You announced a trailer to make mario levels !
We wish we could make our very own mario game with bosses, levelss, secrets, cutscenes and a custom soundtrack
We want you to give us unlimited possibilities and better super worlds, to create the mario game of our dreams.
Please Nintendo, make our dreams.
Wow there are so many simple yet brilliant Ideas here, this guy should work for Nintendo, I really hope Nintendo sees this video.
WE NEED THEM ALL
How cool would these features would be! Nice concept art too :)
Note to all, certain scenes are from Super Smashy Maker, by Smashy.
I also think a darkness effect should be, and light blocks that are adjustable! It’d be great for haunted mansions and perhaps horror!
Looking forward to your video!
It's been a while since we last seen you good to see you
Oh wow, usually people have the same ideas for MM3.
Toads a playable character
I think for music you should just be able to make it like how you do in animal crossing
i hope they take adventage that is 3 to do a Mario maker 3D
I so want all of these so bad
I remember a lot of this from the mario maker fangame super smashy maker (dont let the name mislead you)
0:53 Just a heads up the Thing hes using is Super Mario Construct
This is pure genius! Mario Maker 3 is my most anticipated game and really hope Nintendo doesn’t drop the flag
Also Arrow how's your little one?
Two little ones now! They are great
I really want a paper Mario the origami king theme in Mario maker
I can't believe you didn't mentioned more than 2 sub worlds?
Anyway: I just want one minor thing. I want a different Luigi Sprite for 8 bit style. It feels so bad to him being just a reskin of Mario. Another minor thing is that when Mario devours a Frog Suit (Or Master Sword if it ever returns), I would love have him as just red and no other color.
I mentioned more subworlds in number 27 but didn't say how many.
Good ideas for minor cosmetic changes!
The endless possibilities of wonder styled levels in super mario maker 3 just have huge amounts of potential writing all over them 😀
It's beatiful that a human remember the gloombas
Nintendo! Hire this Man! 😃
DO ITTTTTT
Although, SMM2 lacks many game changer features, those where enough to take extra effort of adding key aspects for fine gameplay.
Also, a button for "Restart from Checkpoint" is actually posible on multiplayer online, but i whish it was present on Single player gamewhise too...🙏🙏
Have some more coloured Yoshis:
Purple Yoshi: Has a ground-pound ability in the other styles where ground-pounding isn't possible.
(fire breath, stomping and flying)
If you're wondering where I got these from, I got 'em from a Mario fangame called Super Mario Bros. X2. Go play it, and thank me later.
I wouldn't be suprised if mario wonder is being made just for a new game style in mario maker 3.
It would be cool if we had a Mario Land 2 and Mario bros 2 style, they would be extra game styles, and reset the level when changing to them, in smb2, goombas get replaced with shy guys, bullet bill canons are replaced the fire Canons and so many other things like koopa shells once hitting a wall disappear (like in the original)
and certain enemis can't be picked up but you can still ride on them and the bosses get replaced too.
but if they keep an smb2 mushroom, they should make it so that plants that are mostly decorations become pick upable!
So if i understood: mario maker will get an editor like geometry dash, and Geometry Dash will get features like mario maker
5:11 What about Theme + Course like Water + Overworld and Lava + Ghost House etc?
Yes, combine any of them! Plus with subworlds then you can have even more variety in levels
My exact thoughts, but way more variated... Possibly, inspired.
@@IvanFranco120 Hey! Do you work for Mafia because Ivano Franco is an OC I made and he is a Capo in New York Mafia?
You used Super Mario Maker 3 on Scratch for showing the decorations! 😃😃😃
get this man a job at nintendo
Boss editor is a great idea, but I’d increase the limit to 3. Boss rush levels are cool.
This was amazing, I really hope these ideas make it into smm3!
Costume Mario is back and no longer exclusive to the SMB1 style.
Instead the costumes will be exclusive to the style they appear.
The general rule will be
SMB1 - Arcade and Early NES, Gameboy
SMB3 - Middle and Late NES, GBC
SMW - SNES and N64, GBA
NSMBU - Gamecube and DS, Wii
SM3DW - Wii U
SMBW - Switch
With the exception of SMB1, all costumes will be redrawn or remodeled to fit within their theme's respective artstylea
I like the hats
Okay… Now I want SMM3
There should be a Troll tag that allows for more things than would usually be possible, like triggering P-Switch or Switches when you move to a specific position or in a specific area, allowing for lightspeed launchers, teleporting, allowing to disable Restart from Checkpoint in lieu of Restart Level to enforce antisoftlocks, even making it easier to upload the level with intended deaths as part of level progression. Also allowing for sprites and objects to move that normally don't, like having a pipe crush you suddenly or a 1-way gate slowly come out of the wall or ceiling after walking down a long corridor to get a 50-Coin
The Troll tag also ensures that, barring very specific circumstances like one-screen mini trolls that get approved by moderators, troll levels won't show up in Endless, and you can search for them in the course viewer.
This feels like a real Nintendo trailer and i love it
I don’t need it.
I definitely don’t need it…
I NEED IT!!!
Saveing courses is not disabled
I think you should be able to view a Video of the world record on a level similar to how you can View Ghost time trial times in Mario kart this would make trying to beat world records on levels a lot easier! 😁
3:54 is this super mario 4 jugadores? Man, i love this game, i used to play this before i had a nintendo switch and mario maker 2
1:35 theres a work around for coop levels! a german creator "DerBescheidwisser" is a master on that mechanic how to clear a coop level as one player. There's a hidden mechanic with mushroom and flower which can trigger a hidden path if you are alone.
2:27 you thought no one would notice that this was from super smash maker, but here I am!
I cant wait for dashie
0:44
i can see this concept working in a SMG or SMO-like style
